Yes—One UI settings can change how your Galaxy Z Fold sounds, but they do not turn its built-in speakers into more powerful hardware. Dolby Atmos, equalizer presets and a few dialogue or loudness controls alter processing, tonal balance or spatial presentation. The result may sound clearer or more pleasing for a particular clip, yet Samsung’s documentation does not promise a measurable increase in speaker output or maximum loudness.
Start with the free, built-in controls. If you need sound that fills a larger room, route an app to a separate Bluetooth speaker instead; that changes the output device rather than improving the Fold’s internal speakers.

What One UI can—and cannot—change
The Galaxy Z Fold’s speakers have fixed physical limits: their drivers, enclosure and amplifier determine how much acoustic output the phone can produce. One UI audio processing works within those limits. It can reshape frequencies, emphasize dialogue, apply a surround-style presentation or normalize differences between clips. Those changes can make playback seem clearer, fuller or easier to follow at the same volume.

Set a repeatable baseline before you compare settings
Quick listening tests are easily affected by different clips, volume levels and hand placement. Use a simple baseline so you can tell whether a change actually helps.
- Choose one familiar speech clip and one music clip stored locally or available in the same app.
- Set the Fold to a comfortable fixed volume. Do not raise the volume for one setting and lower it for another.
- Place the phone on the same surface and hold it the same way each time. Avoid covering either speaker opening.
- Listen first with the current settings unchanged. Note whether the problem is quiet output, muffled voices, harsh treble, weak music balance or an overly narrow presentation.
- Change one control at a time, replay the same section and return to the baseline before testing the next option.
This process will not produce a laboratory measurement, but it prevents a louder setting from being mistaken for a better one.
Open One UI’s sound controls
On the documented Galaxy Z Fold6 path, open Settings → Sounds and vibration → Sound quality and effects. Samsung notes that screens and options can differ by model, carrier, region and software version. A Fold running a different One UI release may use slightly different labels or omit a feature.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf you cannot see an option, use the Settings search field for terms such as “Dolby Atmos,” “equalizer,” “Adapt sound,” “Boost dialogue,” “Loudness normalisation” or “Separate app sound.” The absence of a search result usually means that the feature is not exposed on that model or software build, rather than that a hidden toggle will unlock more speaker power.
Compare Dolby Atmos without assuming it is always better
Dolby Atmos is a selectable processing mode for different types of audio. Samsung presents it as a way to choose an audio presentation suited to the content, not as a specification that increases the Fold’s physical speaker capacity.
How to test it
- In Sound quality and effects, turn Dolby Atmos on.
- Play the same speech and music clips used for your baseline.
- Cycle through the modes shown on your Fold. The available choices can vary by model and software version.
- Keep the mode that makes your main content easiest to follow without introducing echo, excessive brightness or distracting processing.
- Turn Dolby Atmos off once and replay the clip. This confirms whether the change is useful to you rather than merely different.
For dialogue-heavy video, judge consonants and whether voices remain distinct over background sound. For music, listen for vocals, cymbals and low notes staying balanced. A wider or more dramatic presentation can be enjoyable, but it may also make a recording less faithful. There is no universal “best” mode.
Use the equalizer to change tonal balance
The equalizer changes the balance of frequencies sent through the phone’s audio processing. One UI may show the presets Normal, Pop, Classic, Jazz and Rock, plus Custom on some devices. Samsung’s documentation does not assign a guaranteed quality ranking to these choices, so compare them with the content you actually hear.

|---|---|---|
| Normal | Use as the neutral reference when comparing other presets. | Baseline for speech and music |
| Pop | Replay a familiar song and check whether vocals and instruments remain clear rather than crowded. | Music comparison |
| Classic | Use an orchestral or acoustic recording and listen for a natural balance across sections. | Instrumental comparison |
| Jazz | Try a track with drums, horns or vocals and check for clarity at your normal volume. | Ensemble comparison |
| Rock | Use a dense, loud track and check whether guitars and vocals stay separated. | High-energy music comparison |
| Custom | Adjust only when a preset does not address your specific complaint, then replay the same clip after each change. | Personal preference |
Do not push every slider to its maximum. Large boosts can make a small speaker sound harsher or less controlled even when the overall level appears higher. If your main complaint is that speech is hard to understand, test the dialogue-specific option described below before using an extreme equalizer curve.
What Adapt sound is for
Adapt sound is a hearing-personalization feature. Samsung describes age-group or personalized hearing profiles, and parts of the preview and profile setup require headphones on supported devices. It should not be presented as a proven way to make the Fold’s built-in speakers louder.
Use Adapt sound when your goal is to tailor playback to your hearing profile and the feature is available on your model. For a speaker-quality complaint, test Dolby Atmos and the equalizer separately first. If the result changes only when headphones are connected, that is expected behavior for a headphone-oriented personalization control.

Boost dialogue
The Fold6 manual lists Boost dialogue under sound quality and effects. It raises voices in content, which can help when speech is being masked by music or effects. Samsung also states that it is not available for multichannel audio. If a compatible video does not expose the control or produces no change, the content format may be the reason.

Loudness normalisation reduces volume differences between pieces of content. It is useful when one video is much louder than the next, but it is not a maximum-volume booster. Because it changes relative levels between sources, compare several clips before deciding whether it improves your everyday listening.
Rank #2
- The Galaxy Z Fold 6 unfolds to a large 7.6″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner screen (1–120 Hz) that gives you a truly immersive tablet-like workspace for multitasking, split-screen apps, and high‑resolution media playback.
- On the outside, there’s a 6.3″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover display also capable of 120 Hz, making the folded phone highly functional for calls, messages, and quick tasks without needing to open it.
- Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 “for Galaxy” chipset and backed by 12 GB of RAM, the Fold 6 handles intensive 5G use, advanced multitasking, and AI-enhanced workflows with efficiency and responsiveness.
- The camera system packs a punch with a 50 MP main lens (with OIS), 12 MP ultra-wide lens, and 10 MP 3× telephoto lens, allowing users to shoot stable, high-quality photos whether zooming in or capturing wide scenes.
- Built tough for everyday use, it features a reinforced Armor Aluminum frame, IP48 water and dust resistance, S Pen Fold Edition support, and advanced Galaxy AI features like Note Assist, real-time transcription, and live translation.
The Fold6 manual cautions that some sound features require headphones depending on the model. It also states: “Some features may not be available depending on the model.” That qualification matters when you compare a Fold6 menu with another generation of Galaxy Z Fold.

If your goal is genuinely louder, room-filling playback, One UI’s processing controls may not be sufficient. Samsung documents Separate app sound, which sends selected app audio to a separate Bluetooth speaker. This is an external playback route: the Bluetooth device produces the sound, while the Fold’s built-in speakers are not made louder or more powerful.
Choose the right route
| Your goal | Use first | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Make voices easier to follow | Boost dialogue where available, then compare Dolby Atmos and equalizer settings. | Processing and tonal presentation from the Fold |
| Change the character of music | Equalizer presets or Custom, tested with the same tracks. | Frequency balance from the Fold |
| Reduce jumps between clips | Loudness normalisation where available. | Relative volume between content |
| Fill a larger room | Separate app sound with a Bluetooth speaker. | Playback moves to the external speaker |
| Personalize for hearing | Adapt sound, following any headphone requirement. | Hearing-oriented processing, not a speaker-power increase |
To use Separate app sound, search for that feature in Settings, select the app whose media you want routed and choose the paired Bluetooth speaker when the option is offered. The exact screen can vary by One UI version and device. If the external speaker is not listed, pair it in Bluetooth settings first and verify that it is powered on and within range.
Troubleshoot a setting that appears ineffective
The menu or toggle is missing
Check the Fold model, One UI version, carrier software and region. Samsung documents that available screens and settings can vary across those factors. Install the latest official software offered for your device, then search Settings again. Do not assume that a feature shown in a Fold6 manual must exist on every Fold generation.
The sound changed but became worse
Return to Normal equalizer and disable Dolby Atmos, then enable one feature at a time. Use the same clip and volume for each comparison. A processing mode can sound impressive on one recording and unnatural on another, so keep the option that serves your most common content rather than the most dramatic demo.
Voices are still buried
Try Boost dialogue if your model exposes it and the content is compatible. Remember that Samsung says it is unavailable for multichannel audio. If the issue affects every app, check whether a case, hand position or debris is obstructing a speaker opening before judging the software settings.
The phone is not loud enough for a room
Dolby Atmos, equalizer presets and loudness normalisation do not establish a higher physical output limit. Use Separate app sound with a Bluetooth speaker when you need a different playback device, and confirm that the app’s audio is actually routed there.

A practical setup for common listening
Speech and video
Start with the Normal equalizer. Compare Dolby Atmos modes using a dialogue-heavy clip, then test Boost dialogue if it is available and the content is not multichannel. Keep Loudness normalisation only if changing videos regularly causes distracting jumps in level.
Music
Use Normal as the reference, compare the listed presets with several familiar tracks and consider Custom only after you identify a consistent tonal problem. Disable any mode that adds an echo or makes vocals harder to place, even if it initially sounds more dramatic.
Room listening
Use One UI controls for personal preference, but choose a Bluetooth speaker through Separate app sound when the requirement is greater coverage or volume. That is a change of output device, not a repair or enhancement of the Fold’s internal speakers.
What the available evidence can support
Samsung’s support documentation and the 2024 EU English Galaxy Z Fold6 manual establish that these controls and routing options exist on supported configurations. They do not provide an independent acoustic comparison across Galaxy Z Fold models, a before-and-after decibel measurement or a guaranteed percentage improvement. Your best result therefore comes from controlled listening with your own model, software version and everyday content.
