You can use New Relic’s Kubernetes integration on a Raspberry Pi cluster when its Linux environment and the required container images support ARM64. That is architecture-level support, not certification of every Raspberry Pi model, OS image, Kubernetes distribution, or chart image. Check those pieces for your actual cluster before installing.
What New Relic can monitor in a Kubernetes cluster
The integration can collect telemetry about Kubernetes nodes and objects, including namespaces, deployments, replicasets, pods, and containers. Its components have different jobs: the Kubelet component runs as a DaemonSet, with an instance on each Linux node, while kube-state-metrics and control-plane components supply additional state and metrics according to configuration and access.

- Node and Kubelet data: The
nrk8s-kubeletcomponent gathers node-local Kubelet metrics. - Kubernetes object state:
nrk8s-ksmcollects state about Kubernetes objects. - Control-plane data:
nrk8s-controlplanegathers control-plane metrics where available.
The nri-bundle groups charts to simplify installation and upgrades. See New Relic’s Kubernetes integration components documentation for component details.
Check ARM64 and Kubernetes compatibility first
New Relic documents ARM64 support for its infrastructure agent on compatible Linux operating systems, and its containerized agent documentation lists ARM64 and AMD64 image support. Those statements do not establish that every Raspberry Pi OS version, Kubernetes distribution, or image used by every bundle subchart works together. Review the infrastructure agent requirements and containerized agent installation pages, then verify the images you plan to deploy.

New Relic’s Kubernetes compatibility page currently lists Kubernetes versions 1.32–1.36 as continuously tested and calls for Helm v3 for the chart installation path. This range is volatile; check the live compatibility and requirements page for the current range. The cited requirements are not a certification of a complete Raspberry Pi setup.
- Confirm that the host Linux userland is 64-bit ARM-compatible.
- Confirm the Kubernetes version and distribution against New Relic’s current requirements.
- For mixed ARM64 and AMD64 clusters, check the architecture of every enabled component image and how Kubernetes schedules it onto nodes.
Install through the nri-bundle Helm chart
The documented Helm route uses New Relic’s nri-bundle. You need a New Relic account and license key, a compatible cluster, and Helm v3. The Kubernetes installation guide walks through the supported setup and chart configuration.

- Review compatibility. Check your Kubernetes version, distribution, Helm version, host architecture, and the architecture of the images required by the chart.
- Prepare credentials. Have your New Relic license key ready. Keep it out of public repositories; use your existing secret-management approach.
- Choose a cluster name. Set
global.clusterto the name you want displayed for the cluster in New Relic. - Install the bundle. Follow New Relic’s current Helm instructions for
nri-bundle, supplying the license key and cluster name through the chart configuration. - Check the installed components. Confirm the Kubelet DaemonSet is running on the intended Linux nodes, and that the state and control-plane components you enabled can access their required data.
The bundle installs Kube State Metrics unless it is already present in the cluster; follow the installation guide’s current instructions for that case. For exact chart values and commands, use the live guide rather than relying on copied commands that may become stale.

Core Kubernetes telemetry
Start with the node and Kubernetes-object telemetry needed to understand cluster health. Optional events, Prometheus endpoints, logging, and application APM enrichment can broaden visibility, but also add resource use and data volume. Enable optional features only when they answer a specific monitoring need.

Helm bundle or custom manifests
Helm’s nri-bundle is the documented bundle installation and upgrade path. New Relic also describes a manifest workflow, but its custom-manifest guidance warns that manifest installation and upgrades are unsupported and prone to errors. Use that route only if you understand the maintenance trade-off; the guidance is available in the installation documentation.
Self-managed versus provider-managed control planes
A self-managed Raspberry Pi cluster may expose control-plane components differently from a hosted Kubernetes service. For several managed offerings, New Relic’s installation documentation describes worker-only monitoring because provider-managed masters are abstracted. Check which control-plane metrics your cluster actually exposes before expecting them in New Relic.

Budget resources without treating recommendations as Pi benchmarks
New Relic publishes component-level resource recommendations for typical cluster sizes, not Raspberry Pi measurements or guaranteed consumption. The figures below are starting requests and limits from its current compatibility page, not a performance test. Larger clusters or extra features may need more resources; observe actual use and adjust.
