Yes—but only during an eligible YouTube Premiere, while its live chat is active and the creator has enabled Super Chat. India is on YouTube’s list of supported locations for eligible creators, but that does not make Super Chat available on every channel or video. A regular upload or a replay after an event ends is different: viewers cannot add a Super Chat to it later.
When Super Chat works on pre-recorded content
A YouTube Premiere lets viewers watch an uploaded video together at a scheduled time, on a Premiere watch page with live chat. YouTube says viewers can purchase Super Chats to highlight messages in that chat. Creators can enable Super Chat before or during the Premiere. YouTube’s Premiere customization guidance and Premiere overview describe the format and chat experience.
That makes a Premiere the relevant option when the video itself was recorded in advance but viewers should be able to send Super Chats during a shared, real-time viewing event. YouTube also identifies Super Chat and Super Stickers as a way to bring Supers to pre-recorded content through Premieres in its Premiere tips.
Premiere, live stream, upload, and replay: what is different?

YouTube distinguishes live streams from videos viewers watch afterward in its live-stream guidance. A replay may preserve or display event material, but it is not an active Premiere chat where viewers can purchase a new Super Chat.

Is Super Chat available in India?
Yes. YouTube lists India as a supported location for eligible creators. This refers to the creator’s eligibility and location; a viewer being in India does not by itself determine whether a particular channel or video offers Super Chat. The creator must meet YouTube’s fan-funding requirements, be in a supported location, and accept and follow the applicable terms and policies. Check YouTube’s current Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility, availability, and policies for the latest conditions.
How a viewer sends a Super Chat during a Premiere
- Open the Premiere while it is happening and confirm that its live chat is available.
- In the live chat, select the dollar sign, then choose Super Chat.
- Choose an amount and, if desired, enter a message.
- Select Buy and send and complete the purchase shown in YouTube.
The purchase is tied to that event’s chat. A Super Chat may be pinned according to its purchase value, but the creator can end the chat or stream before the pin timer runs out. Why is the Super Chat button missing?
First check whether the event is still live and chat is open. Then consider channel eligibility and the video’s settings. YouTube says Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable on:
- Age-restricted videos.
- Unlisted or private videos.
- Videos marked Made for Kids.
- YouTube Giving fundraiser videos.
- Videos where live chat or comments are turned off.
A creator may also not meet the fan-funding requirements, may not be in a supported location, or may not have enabled Super Chat. The availability list is not a guarantee that every creator or Premiere can use the feature.

What creators should check before scheduling a Premiere
- Confirm the channel meets YouTube’s fan-funding requirements and that the creator’s location is supported.
- Enable Super Chat for the Premiere before it starts or while it is running.
- Keep live chat available, and avoid settings or classifications that make Supers unavailable, including Made for Kids, age restriction, unlisted/private visibility, and a YouTube Giving fundraiser.
- Make clear to viewers that Super Chat is available during the Premiere event, not on a later ordinary upload or replay.
YouTube says creators receive the majority of Super Chat and Super Sticker revenue, but its cited buyer guidance does not specify a share; no percentage should be assumed. Purchases are event-specific and do not transfer to another video.
