An Indian creator can earn YouTube Premium revenue from a live stream if the channel is in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), has accepted the Watch Page Monetization Module, and a Premium subscriber watches the content. YouTube does not promise a special payout for 24/7 streams, or a particular amount based on runtime.
How YouTube Premium revenue works for a live stream
YouTube says creators can receive a share of a Premium subscriber’s subscription fee when that subscriber watches their content. For live-streaming videos viewed on the YouTube Watch Page—or embedded using the YouTube player—the creator must accept the Watch Page Monetization Module to earn ad and Premium revenue. See YouTube’s monetization overview and module instructions.
The practical answer is therefore conditional: being live continuously does not itself establish eligibility or guarantee income. A qualifying Premium view may generate revenue, but YouTube’s guidance does not specify a 24/7 rate, an individual payout formula, or a guaranteed rupee amount.
Eligibility: what an Indian channel needs
Join the YPP tier that includes ad and Premium revenue
YouTube’s listed standard threshold for ad and Premium revenue is 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours from long-form videos in the preceding 365 days or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the preceding 90 days. Other application requirements apply, including policy compliance and an AdSense for YouTube account. YouTube reviews channels before acceptance and may continue reviewing monetized channels. Check the current YPP overview and eligibility requirements when applying.
India is included in the expanded YPP country list. Its lower entry tier provides access to certain features, such as fan funding and Shopping, but that lower tier should not be confused with the separate threshold for ad and Premium revenue. Reaching 500 subscribers alone does not unlock Premium revenue. See YouTube’s expanded YPP overview.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Accept the Watch Page module
After meeting the relevant YPP requirements, accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. YouTube identifies this as necessary to earn ad and Premium revenue from eligible live-streaming videos viewed on the Watch Page or embedded in the YouTube player.
A Premium subscriber must watch
Premium revenue depends on Premium subscribers watching the content. A stream being online for many hours is not, by itself, evidence of Premium viewing or a basis for calculating a payout.

Do 24/7 livestream watch hours count toward monetization?
There are two different questions: whether a live view may produce revenue, and whether its watch time qualifies toward YPP entry. YouTube’s public-watch-hour eligibility rules exclude livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to video on demand (VOD). If you are relying on a stream’s watch time toward the threshold, keep the resulting archive public and available as a VOD. This eligibility accounting rule is not evidence that a live Premium view cannot earn revenue.

Archive length creates a specific risk for continuous broadcasts. YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all; streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived. Its archive guidance recommends keeping a local recording as a backup.

A cautious archive workflow
- End and restart the broadcast before it reaches 12 hours, rather than relying on one uninterrupted stream to produce an archive. This is a precaution based on YouTube’s archive guidance, not a guarantee that every stream will be captured.
- After each broadcast, check that an archive was created and that it is public and available as a VOD if you need its watch time to count toward YPP eligibility.
- Keep a local recording as a backup in case YouTube does not capture the stream.
Can a repetitive 24/7 stream put monetization at risk?
Yes, it can create review risk. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams and expect monetized channels to offer original, authentic content rather than mass-produced, generic, or repetitive material. A continuous loop or a channel built around repeated material may therefore be a concern, although YouTube’s cited guidance does not declare every 24/7 stream ineligible. The relevant distinction is whether the channel provides original, varied, viewer-valued content. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
On 15 July 2025, YouTube said it was clarifying that its existing “repetitious content” policy includes repetitive or mass-produced content and renaming it “inauthentic content.” YouTube described this as a clarification, not a policy change.

Premium revenue versus other live-stream income
Premium revenue is distinct from advertising and fan payments. YouTube lists live-stream ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible options for eligible creators. Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve; YouTube’s systems decide whether to fill them based on multiple factors. Details are in YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.
YouTube reported an average “over 20% uplift in instream ad revenue per hour” in a comparison of channels that enabled live automatic mid-roll ads with channels that did not. The comparison covered 207 countries in January 2024. That figure concerns in-stream ad revenue across groups; it is not a Premium payout figure or a forecast for an individual creator.
