Use the Fios TV Home app on a supported device
The Fios TV Home app is Verizon’s TV-connected streaming route for eligible Fios subscribers using their own compatible streaming device. Verizon requires an eligible Fios TV and Home Internet package, at least one installed Verizon Media Server, Fios TV+ or Fios TV One box, and a Fios router. Check the exact model and operating system
Verizon’s support list includes Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K running tvOS 16 or later, plus selected Fire TV devices running OS 7.0 or later. Listed Fire TV options include Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Fire TV Stick (3rd generation), Fire TV Stick Lite, Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV (3rd generation), Fire TV Cube, and selected Amazon Fire TV televisions from TCL, Toshiba, Insignia and Pioneer. Compatibility is model-specific, and Verizon may change its list; confirm your model and software version on the current Fios TV Home app device list before purchasing.
Connect through the Fios router
Verizon warns that a non-Verizon router may limit access to channels and prevent DVR recording management or streaming through the Fios TV Home app. Use the Fios router for this route if you want the features Verizon documents; do not assume that an otherwise working internet connection guarantees full app functionality. The set-top-box and router requirements also mean this app is not documented as a way to replace all Verizon TV equipment.

Know device authorization and DVR limits
If your package permits one or two personal streaming devices, each device must be authorized. Verizon says you can switch devices, but an individual device can be authorized only twice per calendar month. The unlimited-device package does not require individual authorization. Streaming devices support at most two simultaneous DVR streams.
Use Fios TV Mobile for phones, tablets and Chromecast
Fios TV Mobile is a companion app, not the same TV-connected app as Fios TV Home. Verizon lists support for iOS devices running iOS 12 or later, Android devices running Android 5.0 or later, Amazon Kindle and Fire devices running Android 5.0 or later, and Chromecast generations 1, 2, 3 and Ultra. Verizon lists Smart TVs, Fire TV, Android TV and Chromebooks as unsupported for Fios TV Mobile. Check Verizon’s device and app support information for current requirements.

Expect channel limits outside the home
Live-channel access depends on your Fios TV subscription and whether the mobile device is connected to your own Fios router. Verizon defines in-home viewing by connection to that router; connecting through another Fios household’s router counts as out-of-home. Verizon says select live TV is available within the United States and its territories, but channel selection and features vary by subscription and in-home or out-of-home status. Not every channel in the Fios lineup is available in the app.

Is a Smart TV supported?
It depends on what you mean by “Smart TV.” Verizon’s Fios TV Mobile support list excludes Smart TVs, but the Fios TV Home app supports selected Fire TV televisions from TCL, Toshiba, Insignia and Pioneer. That is not a blanket endorsement of Smart TVs generally: the television must be one of Verizon’s listed models and satisfy the stated operating-system requirement. A supported external Apple TV or Fire TV device connected to the television is another option, provided your account and equipment meet Fios TV Home requirements.

How to decide before you set up or buy
- Confirm account eligibility: Check My Verizon or ask Verizon whether your Fios TV and Home Internet package qualifies for Fios TV Home.
- Check installed equipment: Verify that you have a Verizon Media Server, Fios TV+ or Fios TV One box, and a Fios router.
- Match the device exactly: Confirm the streaming-device model and operating system against Verizon’s current supported-device list.
- Choose the app for the screen: Use Fios TV Home for eligible supported TV-connected devices; use Fios TV Mobile on a supported phone or tablet, or cast select content to a listed Chromecast.
- Check the features you rely on: Ask Verizon about channel availability, DVR functions, out-of-home access and device authorization for your plan and setup.
How Stream TV differs from Fios TV Home
Verizon Stream TV is a separate Wi-Fi streaming device that connects to a television or monitor through HDMI and, according to Verizon, works with almost any internet service. Verizon says a Verizon wireless or Fios Internet account is needed to purchase or rent VOD titles. Those general Stream TV details do not establish it as a substitute for the Fios TV Home app’s required subscription, Verizon set-top box and router. Treat the two as distinct products unless Verizon confirms that Stream TV supports the Fios TV features you need.
