Yes. Gyre can stream a playlist of prerecorded videos to YouTube as a live broadcast, but that does not mean every mix of file formats and settings will work unchanged. Gyre’s setup process checks video parameters and asks you to optimize files that do not meet its requirements. The current cited guidance does not provide an exhaustive list of accepted source-file formats.
How Gyre handles a playlist
Gyre is a cloud service that sends prerecorded video to YouTube as a live stream. You upload the source files to Gyre storage, arrange them into a playlist, and use Gyre to run the broadcast; a dedicated streaming PC or camera does not need to stay on for that cloud stream. YouTube Help lists Gyre as a verified encoder option.

Gyre’s help says that even videos previously uploaded to your YouTube channel must be uploaded to Gyre storage to create a stream. Linking an existing YouTube playlist is not described as a substitute for uploading its source files. When the playlist reaches its final file, Gyre says it starts again from the beginning.
Do you need to convert every video first?
Not necessarily. Gyre’s current setup guide includes a file report that checks parameters such as resolution, frame rate and audio settings. If a file does not meet the applicable requirements, Gyre says it must be optimized before it can join the stream. Use that report as the practical compatibility check rather than assuming that mixed-format files are all accepted as-is.

The available Gyre documentation does not establish a complete, current list of accepted source-file containers and codecs. In particular, YouTube’s HLS ingest requirements describe how a live feed is delivered to YouTube; they do not specify which uploaded source-file extensions Gyre accepts. Those are different stages of the workflow.
Prepare files for a more consistent stream
For its HD and full-HD guidance, a Gyre help article lists 1280×720 or 1920×1080 resolution, H.264 video, 3072–6144 kbps video bitrate, 128 kbps audio and 30 fps. Treat these as vendor guidance, not a definitive current compatibility matrix for every account or file. The same article contains an ambiguously labelled “Frame rates 44.1 kHz” line; it should not be treated as a frame-rate requirement.

Gyre warns that mixing resolutions or bitrates can increase playback problems in a continuous broadcast. This is the vendor’s guidance, not an independent performance test. If files in your playlist differ substantially, check each file in Gyre’s report and optimize those it flags. Where practical, keeping stream-relevant properties consistent can reduce avoidable transitions between unlike files.
Practical setup checklist
- Gather the source files. Keep the original video files available to upload. Previously published YouTube videos and YouTube playlist links do not replace the upload step described in Gyre’s help.
- Upload the videos to Gyre storage. Include every video you want in the broadcast.
- Review Gyre’s file report. Check the reported resolution, FPS and audio parameters for each video.
- Optimize any files Gyre flags. Do not assume that an unreported or unlisted extension is supported; the cited documentation does not give a complete acceptance list.
- Build the playlist and start the YouTube stream. Confirm the intended order, and account for the playlist restarting after its last file.
When a mixed-format playlist causes trouble
- A file will not join the stream: Check Gyre’s report and optimize the file if it does not meet the requirements shown there.
- Playback becomes unstable around a file change: Compare the files’ resolutions and bitrates. Gyre warns that mixing these can increase problems in continuous playback.
- You expected Gyre to use a YouTube upload directly: Upload the source video to Gyre storage; the help guidance does not describe pulling the file from a YouTube playlist link.
- You are unsure whether a particular extension or codec is accepted: The cited documentation does not establish an exhaustive current source-format matrix. Check the file in Gyre’s setup workflow rather than relying on YouTube’s separate live-ingest protocol requirements.
