Yes. Galaxy Buds and their charging case can feel warm while charging, and Samsung says some warmth is normal. But if the case becomes unusually hot, charging repeatedly stops, or a temperature-related warning appears, disconnect it and let it cool before troubleshooting. A warm case alone does not prove a fault.
What can cause the case or earbuds to get hot?
Samsung’s support guidance points to conditions to check, but it cannot diagnose a specific pair of Buds remotely. Heat may be associated with the charging environment, moisture or dirt on the contacts, or a damaged or unsuitable charging accessory. Charging may also stop as a safety measure if the battery gets too hot. Samsung does not publish a universal temperature cutoff for Galaxy Buds charging cases.

- Heat around the case: Check whether it is in direct sunlight or a hot environment, or is still warm from charging.
- Moisture or debris: Wet or dirty charging contacts can interfere with charging; moisture during charging can damage the Buds.
- Cable or charger: A damaged cable or incompatible accessory may cause charging problems. These checks do not establish that a particular accessory caused an overheating event.
Which signs call for stopping the charge?
Stop charging if the case feels unusually hot, charging keeps interrupting, or a temperature-related error appears. Samsung UK identifies a rapidly flashing red case indicator as a temperature-abnormality charging error. Samsung’s U.S. battery guidance says a flashing red earbud indicator may mean charging is disabled because of an error or abnormal temperature. Indicator locations and meanings vary by model, so use the guidance for your specific Buds rather than treating either pattern as universal.

What to do if Galaxy Buds get unusually hot
- Disconnect power. Stop charging and unplug the case if it is unusually hot; let it cool before trying again.
- Move it to a cooler place. Keep the case out of direct sunlight and away from high-temperature environments while charging.
- Check the contacts. Look for moisture or dirt at the charging contacts and make sure they are dry before charging again.
- Inspect the charging setup. Do not use a damaged cable. Use a suitable, approved charger and compatible accessories; check your model’s instructions.
- Retry only after it has cooled. If the heat or charging interruption returns after these checks, stop using the charging setup and contact Samsung support or arrange service.
When should you contact Samsung?
Seek Samsung support or service if unusual heat or charging problems persist after the case has cooled and you have checked the environment, contacts, and charging equipment. Do not assume that a battery is defective—or that replacing a cable will fix the problem—without an inspection. Samsung’s instructions and indicator meanings can differ by model and region; consult the support page for your exact Buds.
