Yes. Family members can use selected PlayStation Plus benefits on the same console when the subscriber activates the correct sharing setting. On PS5, enable Console Sharing and Offline Play on the subscriber’s account. On PS4, activate that console as the subscriber’s primary PS4. Other users on the activated console can play downloaded Monthly Plus games, eligible PlayStation Plus catalog titles, and games the subscriber has purchased and downloaded. The games and membership still belong to the subscriber’s account, and the other accounts cannot redeem PS Plus games or use every subscription benefit.
What PS Plus sharing actually does
PlayStation Plus sharing is a console-level permission, not a transfer of a subscription to another account. The subscriber’s account remains the one that owns purchased games, redeems Monthly Plus games, receives discounts and holds the membership. Once the subscriber activates a supported console, other accounts using that same console can access certain downloaded games and benefits.

PlayStation describes the arrangement as sharing “certain PlayStation Plus benefits” on one PS5 with Console Sharing and Offline Play enabled and one PS4 activated as the subscriber’s primary console. That wording matters: activation opens selected benefits for other users, but it does not make every account a full PS Plus subscriber.

Which benefits family members can use
- Online multiplayer: Other users on the activated console can use online multiplayer benefits, subject to parental controls and the restrictions on the relevant child or family account.
- Downloaded Monthly Plus games: A game redeemed and downloaded by the subscriber can be played by other users on the activated console. The other account does not redeem the game itself.
- Eligible PlayStation Plus catalog games: Users can play catalog or classic titles downloaded through the subscriber’s plan when that membership tier includes the title.
- Games bought with a PS Plus discount: If the subscriber bought a game after receiving a membership discount and downloaded it to the console, other users can play that purchased game through console sharing.
- Purchased and downloaded games generally: With PS5 Console Sharing and Offline Play enabled, other users of that PS5 can play games and media the subscriber purchased and downloaded, including when the console is offline.
Access follows the subscriber’s entitlement. If a title is not included in the subscriber’s membership plan, is no longer available under that plan, or has not been downloaded by the subscriber, activation does not create a new entitlement for another account.
Benefits that do not transfer to another account
- Redeeming PS Plus games: A family member cannot claim a Monthly Plus game to their own account merely because it is available on the subscriber’s console. The subscriber must redeem it.
- Using the subscriber’s discount for a separate purchase: Another account cannot buy a product at the subscriber’s PS Plus discount. The discount belongs to the subscribing account.
- Online storage: Cloud or online storage provided to the subscriber is not shared with the other account through console activation.
- Automatic patch downloads: The shared arrangement does not grant another account the subscriber’s automatic patch-download benefit.
- Early access to time-limited trials: Early access offered to the subscriber for a time-limited trial is not passed to other accounts by sharing.
Those limits are why a family member may be able to launch a downloaded game but still cannot manage that game’s entitlement, redeem future titles, or use the subscriber’s cloud storage.
How to share PS Plus on one PS5
Use the subscriber’s account for the activation. The setting can be enabled on only one PS5 at a time.

- Sign in to the PlayStation Plus subscriber’s account on the PS5.
- Open Settings.
- Select Users and Accounts.
- Choose Other.
- Open Console Sharing and Offline Play.
- Select Enable.
After activation, sign in to the other family members’ accounts on that PS5. They can use the console’s downloaded games and the shareable portion of the subscriber’s Plus benefits. The subscriber should download or install the desired Monthly Plus, catalog or purchased games from the subscriber account first.

Because only one PS5 can have this setting enabled for the account at a time, enabling it on a second PS5 moves the sharing permission. The first PS5 will no longer be the subscriber’s enabled sharing console.
How to share PS Plus on one PS4
On PS4, the equivalent setting is the primary-console activation.
- Sign in to the subscriber’s account on the PS4.
- Open Settings.
- Select Account Management.
- Choose Activate as Your Primary PlayStation 4.
- Confirm the activation.
One PS4 can be associated as the subscriber’s primary PS4 for this purpose. Other users on that primary PS4 can use the supported downloaded games and selected Plus benefits, while the subscriber’s account remains the account that owns or redeems them.

Can two accounts play the same PS Plus game?
Yes, on the activated console, two accounts can use a game that the subscriber has downloaded and that the membership makes eligible. Each person should select their own account when using the console; the game remains tied to the subscriber’s entitlement.

Whether two people can play together is a separate question controlled by the game. A title may support local multiplayer, online multiplayer, or only single-player play. PS Plus sharing can provide the online multiplayer benefit on the activated console, but parental controls and age-rating restrictions can still prevent a child account from accessing a particular game or online feature.
Sharing also does not create a second copy that can be redeemed by the other account. If the family later uses a different console, that account will not automatically carry the Monthly Plus entitlement with it.
How different PS Plus game types behave
Monthly Plus games
The subscriber redeems the Monthly Plus game and downloads it. Other users of the activated PS5 or primary PS4 can play that downloaded title through the console-sharing arrangement. They cannot redeem the title themselves, so the entitlement remains on the subscriber’s account.

Catalog and classic games are shareable when the subscriber’s membership plan includes them and the title is downloaded to the activated console. Availability depends on the plan and the title’s inclusion in that catalog; activation does not upgrade another account to the subscriber’s membership tier.

Games purchased with a Plus discount
The subscriber must complete the purchase using the subscriber account. The other account cannot apply that discount to its own transaction, but it can play the purchased and downloaded game on the activated console.
Ordinary purchased games
PS5 Console Sharing and Offline Play allows other users of the PS5 to play games and media the subscriber purchased and downloaded, even when the console is offline. The purchase is still recorded on the subscriber’s account.

PlayStation’s supported arrangement is limited to accounts on one PS5 with Console Sharing and Offline Play enabled and the subscriber’s primary PS4. It is not supported as a way to share games with a friend who uses a separate, unrelated console.

Likewise, the primary-PS4 designation is a single-console association for this purpose. Treat the setting as a household-console arrangement rather than a way to distribute a membership across multiple homes.
PS Plus sharing is not Share Play

Use Console Sharing and Offline Play when family members use the same PS5. Use Share Play when another person is joining a host’s session remotely; Share Play does not turn the visitor’s account into a PS Plus owner and is not a replacement for console activation.
Parental controls and age ratings still apply
Sharing does not bypass account restrictions. A child or restricted family account may be unable to launch a game, use online multiplayer or access media when parental controls or age ratings block it. If one account can see a title but another cannot, check the affected account’s restrictions rather than assuming the sharing setting failed.
The same principle applies to online play: the console may share the relevant Plus multiplayer benefit, but the user’s account controls can still limit communication, multiplayer access or age-restricted content.
Troubleshooting checklist
- The other account cannot see the game: Confirm the subscriber downloaded the title on the same PS5 or primary PS4 and that the title is included in the subscriber’s current membership plan.
- PS5 sharing will not enable: Check whether Console Sharing and Offline Play is already enabled on another PS5. Only one PS5 can hold that status at a time.
- PS4 users cannot access the game: Verify that the subscriber’s account shows the console as the primary PS4 under Account Management.
- A child account is blocked: Review parental controls and the game’s age rating. Sharing does not override those settings.
- The family member expects to redeem the title: Redeem Monthly Plus games from the subscriber’s account. Sharing permits play on the activated console, not a separate entitlement.
- The user expects cloud storage or discounts: Those benefits remain account-specific and are not included in console sharing.
- A friend on another console cannot play: That arrangement is outside PlayStation’s supported sharing model, which covers the enabled PS5 and primary PS4 associated with the subscriber.
What happens if the subscription or activation changes?
Other users’ access depends on the subscriber’s entitlement and the console’s activation. If the subscriber no longer has the membership plan that includes a catalog title, or the console is no longer the enabled PS5 or primary PS4, the shared access described above may no longer be available. The other account does not retain ownership simply because it previously played the game.
For the cleanest household setup, keep the subscriber’s account as the account that redeems Monthly Plus games, claims catalog access and completes purchases, then let the other family members use their own accounts on the activated console.
Bottom line
Family members can share selected PS Plus games and benefits on one PlayStation. Enable Console Sharing and Offline Play on one PS5, or activate one PS4 as the subscriber’s primary PS4. Other users can play eligible downloaded games and use online multiplayer on that console, but they cannot redeem the subscriber’s games, use the subscriber’s discounts or online storage, or share the membership freely to another console. Share Play is a separate, one-hour session feature rather than permanent game sharing.
