Distill.io can check a website on a schedule. Open a monitor’s Options page or use its schedule control in the Watchlist, then choose a fixed interval, randomized interval, or—where available—Live or Cron Tab scheduling. The shortest interval depends on how the monitor runs and your plan; Distill’s official guides give conflicting minimums for cloud checks, so confirm the choices shown in your account.
Set or change a Distill check schedule
- Open the monitor’s Options page, or click the schedule control for that monitor in the Watchlist.
- Choose a scheduling mode: Interval for regular checks, Random for checks at varying times within a minimum and maximum, Live for continuous monitoring on local monitors, or Cron Tab for recurring calendar-based times, days, weeks, or months.
- Set the interval or recurrence values offered for that mode. The available choices can depend on execution mode, device, and plan.
- If it is a local monitor, optionally limit checks to selected days and time slots. For example, Distill documents restricting checks to weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For a local time window, the monitor follows its configured schedule only while the selected days and hours permit checks. See Distill’s schedule guide for the documented modes and controls.

Choose where the monitor runs
| Execution mode | Where checks run | Must your device stay on? | When it fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Local | Your browser or desktop app | Yes. The browser or device must be running for checks to happen. | When you need a shorter interval or the page requires your local environment. |
| Cloud | Distill’s servers | No. Checks can run while your computer is off. | When you want the service to check independently of your device. |
Distill says monitors added through its web app default to cloud monitoring. Its overview describes the check process as opening a page on a schedule, reading its content, comparing it with a prior result, and notifying you when content changes. See Local Monitor vs. Cloud Monitor and What is Distill?.
Which schedule mode should you use?
Interval: predictable checks
Choose an interval when you want checks to recur regularly. This is the clearest choice for tracking routine changes when a fixed cadence matters.

Random: vary the check timing
Choose Random to have checks occur at randomized times between a minimum and maximum you set. This suits cases where checks should stay within a range but not happen at an exact, repeated cadence.
Live: continuous local monitoring
Distill’s schedule guide describes Live as continuous monitoring for local monitors, and recommends it for pages whose content updates automatically through JavaScript. It is not listed there as a cloud schedule mode.

Cron Tab: calendar-based recurrence
Cron Tab lets you schedule recurring checks at particular times, days, weeks, or months. Distill’s schedule guide identifies it as an Enterprise-plan feature.
How often can Distill check a page?
There is no single cloud minimum supported consistently across Distill’s official pages. The platform and local-versus-cloud guides state a 2-minute web-app/Flexi cloud minimum and a 5-second browser add-on or local minimum. A separate official enterprise-local-monitoring page gives the cloud minimum as 1 minute, while also describing local checks as low as 5 seconds. Distill’s features page broadly advertises custom tracking frequency from 5 seconds to 30 days, but that range should not be treated as available for every plan or monitor.

These are Distill product claims on official pages accessed October 3, 2026; the pages do not state publication dates. Because the published cloud minimums conflict, use the interval selector in your account as the practical authority for your plan and monitor. The interval I want is not available
Interval choices vary by plan and execution mode, and the official documentation does not establish one universal cloud minimum. Check whether the monitor is local or cloud, confirm your plan’s available options, and select a cadence displayed in the monitor’s schedule control.

Local checks stop when I close my computer
Local checks depend on the browser or desktop device running. Keep it available for the scheduled checks, or use cloud execution if the monitor and your plan offer it.
Live or Cron Tab is missing
Live is documented for local monitors only. Cron Tab is documented as Enterprise-only. If the mode is not shown, check the monitor’s execution mode and your plan.
The page changes without a notification
Distill’s documented process compares page content between checks, so a change is not detected until a check runs. Confirm the monitor is enabled, its schedule is active, and—if local—that the browser or device is running during the scheduled period.
Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is to get a screenshot rather than monitor a page for changes over time, ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot or PDF with one GET request. It removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; and its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
