How to encounter Bramblin during Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek
The event announcement gives three encounter routes. The dates and times below are local to the player’s location, not a single worldwide time zone.

If you are playing after October 19 at 8:00 p.m. local time, do not assume these routes remain active. The announcement specifies the event window, but it does not promise a permanent post-event spawn or research encounter.
Why the asterisk matters—and what it does not mean
The event listing provides a practical way to interpret its encounter tables. Species carrying the asterisk are the ones for which the announcement explicitly raises the possibility of a shiny encounter. In the first Incense period, the marked species are Galarian Ponyta, Hoppip, Electrike and Dwebble. In the second period, they are Hisuian Growlithe, Nincada, Electrike and Helioptile.

Do not infer shiny eligibility merely because a Pokémon is obtainable. Pokémon GO can distribute a species while withholding its shiny variant until a later announcement.
What are Bramblin’s shiny odds?

Because no rate is published, attempts to calculate a Bramblin probability from the number of spawns, Incense duration or personal catches would be speculation. The number of encounters you see is not a substitute for an official odds statement.
How to tell whether an encounter is shiny
When a Pokémon is shiny-eligible and a shiny encounter occurs, Pokémon GO displays a shiny icon above the Pokémon’s CP on the encounter screen. Niantic identifies that icon as the in-game way to tell that the Pokémon you encountered is shiny.
- Tap the Bramblin encounter from Incense, a GO Pass reward or Field Research.
- Look at the encounter screen before deciding whether to catch, run or use an item.
- Check the area above the CP value for the shiny icon described by the Help Center.
- If the icon is present, treat that encounter as shiny and catch it. If it is absent, the screen has not identified that encounter as shiny.
- After catching it, verify the Pokémon’s details page if you want a second confirmation of its status.
The icon is a confirmation of the individual encounter. It cannot turn an unannounced species into a shiny-eligible one, and the absence of the icon should not be interpreted as a published Bramblin odds figure.
Does the icon prove Bramblin is currently shiny-available?
For a species already announced as shiny-eligible, the icon is the practical visual check. Bramblin is different because the debut announcement does not establish shiny eligibility. If you encounter Bramblin during the event and never see the icon, that is consistent with the published event information, but it does not create a permanent rule for future events.
If a later official announcement makes shiny Bramblin available, the same encounter-screen icon should be the relevant in-game confirmation under Niantic’s general guidance. Check the in-game event panel for the active window before starting a session, especially on October 16 when the encounter rotation changes.

GO Pass tasks are another announced route to Bramblin. Read each task’s reward preview before claiming it so you know whether the encounter is the Bramblin reward you are pursuing. The announcement establishes the route, but it does not provide a universal task list or a separate shiny rate for GO Pass encounters.
Keep event Field Research tasks
Event Field Research can also produce Bramblin encounters. Spin eligible PokéStops, check the task description, and retain a task that lists Bramblin until you can complete it. Claim the reward while the event content is active unless the in-game task description states otherwise.
Check every encounter individually
Do not decide that all Bramblin encounters share the shiny status of another event species. Open each encounter and use the shiny icon check. The event’s marked species and bonuses apply to the species named in those sections, not automatically to every Pokémon appearing through the same route.

Likewise, an encounter route being listed for the event does not guarantee that it remains in the game indefinitely. If you want Bramblin from this debut, plan around the published end time and confirm the active route in the event interface before spending Incense or completing a task.
