Possibly—but “old gaming PC” alone cannot answer it. The PC must decode the playlist and encode a 3840×2160, 60 fps stream in real time, while its internet connection sustains the chosen upload bitrate with headroom. Test the exact computer, software, playlist and connection you plan to use; if 4K60 is unstable, try 1440p60 or 1080p60.
What determines whether the PC can handle 4K60?
There are two separate workloads: playing the source video and encoding the outgoing live stream. A computer might play a 4K file smoothly yet struggle to encode its frames at 60 fps. If the encoder cannot keep up, you may see dropped frames or encoder overload.

The answer depends on the exact CPU and GPU, the encoder and codec exposed by your streaming software, the source file, and other work happening on the PC. OBS explains that a hardware encoder shifts encoding work from the CPU to a specialized GPU component, but the available encoder and capabilities depend on the hardware in that particular system. - Open the application’s encoder settings and note which hardware encoders and codecs are actually available.
- Confirm the selected encoder can handle the intended resolution and frame rate in real time; do not infer this from the PC’s age or its ability to play 4K video.
What bitrate and settings does YouTube specify for 4K60?
YouTube’s encoder guidance, accessed in 2026, lists 10–40 Mbps for AV1 or H.265 at 2160p/60 fps and recommends 35 Mbps for H.264 at that mode. Choose only a codec that both YouTube’s ingest workflow and the PC’s available encoder support. YouTube accepting AV1 or H.265 does not mean an older GPU can encode either one in hardware.
- Set output resolution to 3840×2160 and frame rate to 60 fps if the PC passes the test.
- Use constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, as YouTube recommends.
- For 4K60, use normal latency rather than YouTube’s low-latency option.
What upload speed do you need in India?
Use the selected stream bitrate as a starting point, then leave capacity beyond it. YouTube advises allowing 20% room and describes total stream load as the primary stream plus any backup stream plus headroom. A connection that barely reaches the selected bitrate in a speed test may not remain stable throughout a broadcast. YouTube streaming tips

In India, the relevant figure is the sustained upload available to this PC at its location and at the hours you intend to stream—not a nationwide average or the advertised download speed on an ISP plan. Upload capacity, routing, Wi-Fi quality, household use and time-of-day congestion can all matter. YouTube notes that outbound bandwidth can differ from inbound bandwidth. Test from the broadcast PC on the actual connection, preferably at likely streaming times; a wired connection can help if Wi-Fi is unreliable, but cannot increase the upload capacity supplied by the ISP.

- Check the hardware encoder. In your streaming software, inspect the encoder and codec choices on this PC. Confirm that the selected option supports the target mode rather than assuming a codec is available because YouTube accepts it.
- Measure the real upload connection. Test from the PC and network you will use, including at likely broadcast times. Allow margin above the stream bitrate and account for any backup stream or other upload activity.
- Set the encoder. Configure 3840×2160, 60 fps, a supported codec, CBR and a two-second keyframe interval. For 4K60, select normal latency.
- Check playlist behavior in the application. Confirm it advances or loops the files as intended. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance does not establish how every third-party app handles playlists.
- Run a representative private or unlisted test. Use the same playlist, movement, audio and expected duration as the intended broadcast. Preview and monitor for dropped frames, encoder overload, network instability and interruptions between playlist items. YouTube advises previewing and monitoring an encoder stream. - Lower the output mode if the test is unstable. Try 1440p60 or 1080p60 and test again. YouTube publishes lower-mode bitrate guidance too; choose the highest setting that stays stable in an end-to-end test, not simply the highest setting the platform accepts.
Can you loop a playlist on YouTube Live?
Encoder-based streams can carry content from streaming software, but playlist looping and transitions depend on the software and its configuration. Confirm that the specific application can repeat or advance your chosen files, then test a full cycle privately or as an unlisted stream. Do not assume that YouTube’s general encoder setup instructions guarantee playlist behavior in every app.

For content you have a right to broadcast, also check that the files and any music or other included material are cleared for your use. A stable stream setup does not itself establish that a playlist complies with YouTube’s rules.
