Yes, potentially—but a ₹500 VPS listing is not proof that it can keep a YouTube stream healthy around the clock. The practical limits are usually the server’s outbound data allowance and sustained network quality. A 24/7 stream at 2.5 Mbps uses about 0.81 decimal TB in 30 days; at 6 Mbps, about 1.94 TB, before overhead and retransmissions. You also need a YouTube-eligible channel, content rights, and a plan for failures and replays.

What a VPS can—and cannot—guarantee

A VPS can run an encoder process that sends an already recorded video or playlist to YouTube. You connect it using the server URL and stream key shown in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. That establishes the streaming workflow; it does not certify a particular VPS for continuous use or guarantee uninterrupted service.

Whether a low-cost server is suitable depends on what the process does. Relaying a compatible, already encoded file without re-encoding is a different CPU workload from converting its codec or resolution in real time. The YouTube encoder guidance does not specify VPS CPU or RAM requirements for either workload. Test the exact software, files, settings, route and intended bitrate before relying on the server.

How much monthly data will a 24/7 stream use?

For a constant-rate stream over 30 days, estimate decimal data with this calculation:

bitrate (megabits/second) × 2,592,000 seconds ÷ 8 = approximate bytes transferred

Stream bitrate Approximate transfer in 30 days What to keep in mind
2.5 Mbps 0.81 decimal TB Arithmetic estimate before protocol overhead, retransmissions, reconnects or other traffic.
6 Mbps 1.94 decimal TB Arithmetic estimate before protocol overhead, retransmissions, reconnects or other traffic.

YouTube’s Streaming tips guidance says the total streaming bitrate must not exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% headroom. A provider’s advertised port speed is an interface figure, not proof of sustained throughput or a healthy route to YouTube’s ingestion servers. Verify how the provider counts outbound transfer, and leave margin below any cap.

These are provider-published listings, not independent performance tests. Confirm current price, tax, traffic accounting and terms at checkout; neither listing proves the plan can deliver the advertised network figures continuously to YouTube.

Provider listing Advertised price Published specifications Transfer comparison
Purvaco VPS Entry ₹500/month plus 18% GST 1 vCPU, 2 GB ECC RAM, 25 GB NVMe storage, 2 TB bandwidth, 1 Gbps port, one IPv4 address At 2.5 Mbps, the estimated 0.81 TB is below the listed allowance. At 6 Mbps, the estimated 1.94 TB is close to the 2 TB cap.
VyomCloud listing ₹560/month 2 vCPU cores, 2 GB RAM, 40 GB storage, 1 TB traffic, 100 Mbps bandwidth figure At 2.5 Mbps, the estimated 0.81 TB is below the listed allowance. At 6 Mbps, the estimated 1.94 TB exceeds it.

The transfer estimates are constant-bitrate calculations for a 30-day month, not measurements of either VPS. Before buying, check whether the allowance applies to outbound traffic, how overages are charged, and whether fair-use or sustained-use restrictions apply. Also check the renewal price, billing period, suspension policy, support and provider’s uptime terms. Storage matters if you plan to keep the video files on the VPS; a remote source changes the network and reliability assumptions.

A practical VPS workflow for prerecorded video

  1. Confirm YouTube eligibility. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction during the preceding 90 days. Review the current Live Control Room setup and make sure the channel can start a stream before configuring a server.
  2. Choose a relay or transcode workflow. For a relay, use a compatible, already encoded source and avoid unnecessary conversion. If you need real-time codec or resolution conversion, do not assume a low-cost CPU can handle it; test the actual workload first.
  3. Check source and transfer requirements. Decide whether files will be stored on the VPS or read from another source. Estimate monthly egress from the intended bitrate using the calculation above, then leave room for overhead and reconnects. Check the provider’s traffic rules rather than relying on the port-speed number alone.
  4. Connect to YouTube using its current encoder workflow. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or select the stream and use the server URL and stream key presented there in the encoder. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or include it in a public log. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe how to connect an encoder, but do not validate your VPS capacity.
  5. Run a representative test before going continuous. Preview the stream and check audio and video quality. Monitor CPU, memory, outbound traffic, reconnects and stream health at the intended bitrate. Test what happens when the process or network connection drops, and confirm how it recovers before depending on it.
  6. Plan for operational failure. A single VPS can be a single point of failure. Check provider restart behavior and support arrangements, and decide how you will detect an unhealthy stream and restore playback. YouTube recommends setting up ahead of time, previewing, monitoring quality and testing failover.

YouTube rules, monetization and music rights

Eligibility and content policies

Livestreams remain subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. A channel that meets the live-streaming eligibility requirements still needs to comply with those rules throughout the broadcast.

Continuous playback is not a monetization shortcut

YouTube’s Partner Program policies apply to live streams. In its July 15, 2025 clarification, YouTube renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and reiterated that repetitive or mass-produced content can be ineligible under its expectation of original, authentic value. Reviewers may consider a channel’s overall theme, most-viewed and newest videos, watch-time share, metadata and About section. A continuous loop with little original value can therefore create monetization risk; presenting it live does not make it original.

Clear rights to all video and audio

YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the content provider to have the rights needed to use the live content on Google services worldwide, including relevant music rights from artists, labels, publishers and other rights participants. Clear the rights for the territories and uses involved before broadcasting prerecorded video or music.

Will YouTube save a 24-hour stream as a replay?

YouTube’s encoder setup guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. It does not say that a 24/7 broadcast will be saved as one complete replay, so do not rely on a single all-day stream being preserved intact. If replay availability matters, retain your source files independently or plan separate, shorter sessions, and verify YouTube’s current behavior before depending on an archive.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is to keep prerecorded videos live on YouTube without maintaining a VPS, StreamNeo is a cloud service for uploaded videos and playlists: upload your video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo keeps playback running from its cloud rather than relying on a computer or home connection staying on.

  • Nothing has to stay powered on at home.
  • Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot rather than quality tiers.
  • Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
  • The first day is free, with no card required; it is one free day per account.
  • Monthly billing is $9.99 per month.

Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery and support from the StreamNeo team. The same product is included on every plan; only the billing length changes. UPI and cards are available in India, while card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support. StreamNeo streams to YouTube and plays uploaded video; it is not a camera livestream service. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
