A carrier’s advertised download speed or a “5G” label cannot establish that. Check YouTube eligibility, measure sustained upload at the exact installation spot, test the real streaming setup, and plan for interruptions and replay capture before relying on mobile broadband for a 24/7 broadcast.
What has to be true for a 24/7 stream to work?
The decisive factor is a stable upload connection where the phone, hotspot, or encoder will operate. YouTube says the stream’s total bitrate cannot exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends 20% headroom. Connection disruptions can break a broadcast, so a single speed test or advertised peak speed is not proof that an always-on stream will hold.

No general guarantee can be made for Indian mobile broadband: coverage, congestion, sustained upload, outages, plan limits, and carrier conditions vary by location and plan. Check the carrier’s terms for the connection you intend to use, then test at the church rather than assuming a mobile network will behave consistently. YouTube’s streaming tips explain its connectivity guidance.
Check that the church’s channel can go live
YouTube’s current mobile guidance requires a channel with at least 50 subscribers, no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, channel verification, and live streaming enabled. The first activation may take up to 24 hours. For direct mobile streaming, YouTube lists Android 8.0+ or iOS 8+ as the device requirement. Check the channel’s eligibility and enable streaming well before a service or planned launch. See YouTube’s mobile live-streaming guidance and getting started with live streaming.

A phone app is not the same thing as a dependable unattended 24/7 system. For continuous operation, assess a fixed encoder-based setup that can be previewed, monitored, and restarted when needed. YouTube supports encoder software and hardware workflows; neither removes the need for a reliable connection or a plan for power and cellular interruptions. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes that workflow.
Measure the connection and test the actual setup
- Choose the installation point. Test where the phone, hotspot, or encoder will actually sit, not beside a window or outside unless that is the intended permanent location.
- Check sustained upload at different times. Include busy periods. A speed test is only a snapshot; note fluctuations and outages as well as the best result.
- Select the stream bitrate, then check headroom. YouTube recommends upload capacity 20% above the total stream bitrate. The stream’s bitrate must remain below the available upload bandwidth.
- Run an unlisted test using the real device and workflow. Preview the feed and monitor a sustained session. Confirm that audio and video remain usable and observe what happens if the cellular connection drops.
- Make an interruption plan. Decide who will notice a failure and how the encoder or connection will be restored. A mobile signal fluctuation or power interruption can stop a stream even when the initial test looks good.
YouTube’s streaming tips recommend reliable connectivity, adequate bandwidth, and testing and monitoring. A dedicated 5G hotspot router is an optional equipment category to consider only if local coverage, sustained upload, and plan terms check out; buying a device cannot fix inadequate carrier service.
Estimate the mobile data burden
YouTube gives a rule of thumb of about 10 MB per minute for a mobile live stream. At that rate, arithmetic gives about 600 MB per hour and about 14.4 GB per 24 hours. The daily figure is an extrapolation from YouTube’s estimate, not a separate YouTube statistic or a billing guarantee; actual use varies with stream settings and content. See YouTube’s mobile filming tips.
Before committing to continuous streaming, compare the estimated usage with the plan’s allowance and conditions, including any limits that may apply after a threshold. The sources here do not establish the availability, price, or terms of any particular Indian carrier plan. Ask the carrier about the intended location and ongoing use rather than treating the estimate as a promise of what a plan will permit.
Plan for recordings and YouTube’s 12-hour archive limitation
A 24-hour live broadcast may not produce a replay. YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all; streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived. If preserving the sermon matters, keep a local recording and consider ending and restarting before the 12-hour mark rather than relying on one uninterrupted stream. Read YouTube’s archive guidance.

Check rights for sermons, hymns, and other material
The church is responsible for having the necessary rights to content it streams, including applicable music licensing rights, and for complying with applicable laws and rules. That can include hymns, backing tracks, and other material in the broadcast. The requirements for a particular Indian church depend on its content and circumstances; YouTube’s terms do not determine which permissions apply in each case. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and confirm the relevant rights before broadcasting.
DIY mobile-broadband setup versus a cloud loop
Run the stream from the church
For a do-it-yourself setup, use a phone for a direct mobile broadcast or an encoder-based workflow for a fixed production. Confirm channel eligibility, measure the connection, set a bitrate that fits sustained upload with YouTube’s recommended headroom, preview and monitor the stream, and arrange local recording and recovery. The church’s equipment, power, and internet connection must remain available for the stream to continue.

Or let it run in the cloud
If the church’s goal is to loop uploaded sermon videos rather than broadcast a live camera feed, StreamNeo is a YouTube cloud service: upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud continues the loop without a computer or home connection staying on. It supports uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only and does not broadcast from a camera.
- The first day is free with no card, one free day per account.
- Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot (pooled across active slots), 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops, and StreamNeo team support. The product is the same on each plan; only the billing period changes.
- Billing options are a day, a week, a month, 6 months, or a year; cancel any time. UPI and cards are available in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. For 5 or more slots, contact support.
Monthly pricing: $9.99 per month. Uploading prerecorded videos is a different workflow from sending a live camera feed; choose it only if looping uploaded material fits the church’s purpose. Start StreamNeo’s free first day.
