Possibly—but only if the licenses for the specific tracks permit a YouTube livestream and its archived replay in the territories where you broadcast. “Royalty-free” does not automatically mean free to rebroadcast, run continuously, monetize, or keep as a replay. YouTube may also interrupt a licensed stream if Content ID matches the music and the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel.
What “royalty-free” does—and does not—tell you
“Royalty-free” is not a universal permission or a guarantee that no royalties are due for every use. It is a label that can describe a particular license arrangement. The license for each track determines what you may do with it. Putting tracks in a playlist does not expand those rights.

YouTube’s livestream terms require you to have all necessary rights for the live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers—including public-performance licenses—and other royalty participants. The terms address archived content as well as the live broadcast. YouTube Terms of Service.

Check the license before putting a track on air
Read the terms that apply to the particular tracks and your account or subscription. If the license is unclear, ask the provider or rights holder for written confirmation rather than relying on a catalog description.

- Replay and archiving: May you leave the livestream recording available after it ends? Permission for the initial broadcast does not necessarily settle permission for the archived replay.
- Territories: Which countries or regions are covered? YouTube’s terms refer to rights throughout the world, so check whether your license covers the places where the stream may be viewed.
- Monetization: If you run ads, accept other revenue, or otherwise monetize the channel, confirm that the license allows it.
- Attribution and other conditions: Check whether credits, notices, limits on repeat use, or other requirements apply to each track.
- Content ID: Ask whether the rights owner can add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for the licensed tracks.
Make sure the relevant music rights are covered
A track can involve separate rights in its sound recording and in the underlying musical composition. YouTube identifies recording owners such as labels, as well as publishers and performing-rights organizations or collecting societies, among the parties whose music rights may matter. A license covering only one part may not clear the full use. Check who grants the license and what rights it actually includes. YouTube Help: Copyright on YouTube.
Why YouTube can interrupt a licensed livestream
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may lead to a warning, a placeholder image, an interruption, or termination. Having a license does not by itself prevent an automated match or ensure the channel will be recognized as authorized.

YouTube’s guidance is direct: “If you’ve licensed third-party content to use in your stream, ask the owner of the content to add your channel to their allowlist through Content ID.” Make that request before broadcasting and confirm that the channel and the relevant tracks are covered. Could YouTube’s own music options work?
YouTube Audio Library
YouTube describes Audio Library music as copyright-safe and says tracks downloaded from the library will not be claimed by a rights holder through Content ID. Some tracks are under Creative Commons and require attribution, so follow the terms shown for the individual track. YouTube’s assurance concerns its own library; it says it is not responsible for issues involving royalty-free music from outside libraries. YouTube Help: Use music and sound effects from the Audio Library.
Creator Music
Do not assume a Creator Music license clears a live radio stream. YouTube says Creator Music does not currently support licensing for live content, and its usage details limit licensed music to long-form videos, excluding livestreams and Shorts. The help page describes availability for U.S. YouTube Partner Program creators. Check the current terms and Studio availability for your account and region, since platform features can change. A practical pre-stream checklist
- Identify the exact tracks and the license terms that apply to each one.
- Verify that the license covers YouTube livestreaming, your intended territories, any monetization, and keeping an archived replay.
- Confirm that the grant covers both the recording and composition rights needed for your use.
- Check attribution and other license conditions, and prepare any required credits.
- Contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting for your channel before going live.
- Keep copies of the licenses, track details, and written permissions where you can retrieve them if a claim or interruption occurs.
If you need a continuous stream, separate rights clearance from stream uptime
A cleared playlist answers whether you may use the music; it does not guarantee that YouTube will avoid a Content ID interruption. For the operational side, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded-video YouTube stream running from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and it does not grant music rights: you still need licenses that cover your stream and replay.

When the answer is still uncertain
If a playlist page merely says “royalty-free,” but does not clearly grant YouTube livestream, replay, territory, and monetization rights, the permission needed for your station is not established. Ask the provider or rights holder to clarify the specific use; YouTube says it cannot give legal guidance. The applicable answer depends on the actual license and rights involved.
