Yes, the format is not expressly prohibited by the YouTube guidance covered here. But a still image and animated audio waves do not guarantee that a stream will be monetized or remain live. YouTube’s rules separately concern channel-wide monetization eligibility, rights to the audio and image, and enforcement during live broadcasts.
Does YouTube allow a still image with animated waves?
YouTube’s monetization policy does not single out a meditation livestream built from a still image and animated audio waves as prohibited. Nor does it say that adding a waveform makes a stream sufficiently original. So the careful answer is that the format appears usable under the general guidance, but YouTube has not guaranteed acceptance or monetization for this particular format, channel, image, or track.

YouTube says its monetization rules apply to live streams as well as other video. It reviews channels as a whole and may consider the channel’s theme, most-viewed and newest content, the share of watch time associated with particular content, metadata, and the About section. A single visual treatment is therefore not the whole eligibility question.

YouTube’s guidance focuses on whether content is original rather than mass-produced, generic, or repetitive. It says the substance of each video should be materially varied and deliver creative, educational, or other value. Among the examples it flags are image slideshows, templated storylines, and scrolling text with minimal or no narrative, commentary, or educational value.

A waveform is a visual effect, not proof that a meditation stream offers original value. If many streams use the same image, nearly identical audio, and a templated presentation, changing or animating the waveform alone should not be treated as a monetization workaround. Consider what is distinctive about the meditation itself and whether streams across the channel meaningfully differ. The exact audio-wave visualizer format is not specifically addressed in the policy, so this is an application of the general guidance, not a ruling on the format.
Clear the rights to the audio and image
YouTube’s livestream terms make the creator responsible for having the necessary rights to live content, including music rights. Use audio and imagery you created yourself, or material whose licence expressly covers the intended use. Keep the licence and permission records, including any relevant limits on livestreaming, territories, duration, monetization, and archiving.

- Analog mixing and equalization for pure sound
- Direct mixing of PC/gaming sounds into the streaming output
- Ultra-low noise analog mixer for streaming, podcasting and recording
- Stereo USB audio interface to connect your computer or mobile device
Permission and monetization eligibility are different questions: having permission to use third-party material does not by itself establish that a channel meets YouTube’s reused-content requirements.

If you licensed third-party audio
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If you have a licence, ask the rights owner to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist where applicable. YouTube warns that a licensed stream may still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted. An allowlist request does not replace the need to check that your licence actually covers the use.

- Equipped with a single mic input (XLR or ¼"), two LINE inputs for guitar and keyboard, and USB-C input for connecting to a computer
What can happen while the stream is live?
If YouTube detects third-party content, it may replace the stream with a placeholder. If the material remains, the livestream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. A copyright or Community Guidelines strike can also terminate a live stream.
If you archive the broadcast, YouTube may make Content ID claims on the archived livestream after it ends. Live monitoring and later claims are separate points at which rights issues can arise; a stream that was not interrupted is not necessarily free of a later claim.

A practical pre-stream checklist
- Audio: Confirm that you own the recording or that your licence covers live use on YouTube and any planned archive.
- Image and animation: Use original or properly cleared visuals, including any background image, artwork, and waveform assets.
- Licensed material: Retain permission records and ask the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting for your channel.
- Channel: Assess whether the stream and the channel’s other uploads offer original, meaningfully varied value; do not rely on a visualizer as a substitute.
- Archive: Decide whether to keep the replay, knowing that an archived livestream can receive Content ID claims after it ends.

Policy date and limits
YouTube’s policy page says it updated its terminology on July 15, 2025, renaming “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and clarifying that the policy includes repetitive or mass-produced material. YouTube says this did not change its reused-content policy. These general rules do not decide the status of a particular creator’s stream, channel, image, audio track, or licence.
