Yes, potentially. YouTube does not automatically disqualify a live stream because it repeats, but a looping nature stream can be denied monetization if the channel appears repetitive or mass-produced, lacks original and authentic material, or offers too little creative, educational, or other value. YouTube reviews the channel as a whole, so no format or permission guarantees approval.
How YouTube evaluates repeating nature streams
YouTube’s channel monetization policies cover live streams. Its policy calls repetitive or mass-produced material “inauthentic content,” and says similar formats may still be monetized when each video’s substance is materially varied and delivers creative, educational, or other value. The clarification was published on July 15, 2025; see YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

The key distinction is not simply whether a stream loops. It is whether the channel gives viewers original, authentic material with meaningful value, or instead presents substantially interchangeable content with little variation.

A creator’s own live camera showing a landscape as weather, light, or wildlife changes may be easier to distinguish from a templated loop. That is a practical application of YouTube’s general originality and variation criteria—not a special exception for nature footage or a promise of monetization.
#1 Best Overall
- Two 25 minute films: Tropical Rain and Rains of the North.
- Choice of 6 audio tracks of rain and music.
- A 20 minute film of longer, slowly changing Soothing Scenes.
- Three Natural Decoration tracks: After the Rain, Monsoon and Raindrops on Lake.
- The DVD has a continuous play functions, ideal for waiting rooms.
A prerecorded clip on repeat
A prerecorded scene replayed continuously may raise a stronger concern if the stream and other channel uploads offer little variation or added value. Reusing the same footage across many streams with only superficial changes can also make a channel look interchangeable or mass-produced. YouTube does not publish a categorical rule that every repeated nature clip is ineligible; the channel’s actual material and overall presentation matter.
What reviewers may consider across the channel
Monetization review is channel-wide, not a decision based only on one relaxing stream. YouTube says reviewers may examine the channel’s main theme, newest and most-viewed videos, content responsible for the largest share of watch time, titles, thumbnails, descriptions, and About section.
Rank #2
- Passion flowers, romantic roses, tropical blooms and much more.
- Five relaxing tracks showing tropical and temperate butterflies and flowers.
- Three relaxing films set to calming and inspiring music.
- Two further films have longer, slowly-changing shots and natural sounds.
- Filmed using high definition cameras for amazing details.
In practice, a channel dominated by nearly identical loops may present a different case from one that uses ambience footage as part of varied, original programming. Consider whether viewers can tell what is distinctive about each stream and whether the channel offers substance beyond a repeated background image. These are useful checks against the published criteria, not a formula that guarantees acceptance.
Originality, reused content, and copyright are separate issues
YouTube’s reused-content review asks whether you meaningfully created or transformed material and whether viewers can tell. That review is separate from copyright enforcement and does not turn on whether you have permission or believe your use is fair. Permission to use a clip, therefore, does not by itself establish that a channel meets monetization requirements. Likewise, passing reused-content review does not excuse copyright infringement or other policy violations.

- FEATURE: DVD Video, All Regions, Widescreen, Dolby Digital Sound, Approximate Duration - 84 minutes
- SOUND: All tracks use the natural sounds of the sea, ocean, beach and waves.
- KEY FEATURES: All tracks repeat automatically for continuous relaxation. The main 24 minutes film have beautifully blended ocean scenes.
- SOOTHING SCENES: A further soothing scenes track has longer, slowly changing shots.
- NATURAL DECORATION: Three more tracks show 3 peaceful seascapes.
Keep records that support your claims about footage you filmed or licensed, but treat those records as evidence of rights—not as a monetization guarantee. For reused footage, ask whether your contribution is meaningful and evident to viewers, rather than assuming that adding a title, ambience label, or repeated broadcast makes the material original.
YPP eligibility is a separate hurdle
For full ad-revenue eligibility, YouTube’s guidance lists 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours from long-form videos in the previous 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the previous 90 days. Geographic availability, program conditions, and policy compliance also apply. Reaching the numbers does not guarantee acceptance; YouTube reviews the channel against its policies. Check the current YouTube Partner Program overview and eligibility for current requirements.

YouTube also lists an earlier-access threshold for certain features: 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified long-form watch hours in the last 365 days or 3 million Shorts views in the last 90 days. This is not the full ad-revenue threshold. Feature availability and requirements can vary; see How to earn money on YouTube.

When livestream hours count
Livestream watch hours can contribute to the public-watch-hours route when the stream is public and converted to a video on demand. YouTube excludes livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD from those qualified watch hours. Plan whether to retain the replay before relying on a long broadcast to build eligibility.

- Establish what is yours: Be able to explain whether the footage is your own live camera feed, your own recorded material, or licensed/reused content.
- Look for meaningful variation: Compare streams and replays. If their substance is effectively identical, consider making programming more distinct rather than relying on cosmetic changes.
- Make the channel’s value clear: Ensure titles, descriptions, and the About section accurately explain the content and its purpose; metadata does not substitute for original substance.
- Keep rights records: Retain relevant evidence of authorship or permission, while remembering that copyright permission alone does not satisfy reused-content review.
- Check the VOD and privacy settings: If you need livestream hours for YPP, ensure qualifying streams remain public and are converted to VOD.
- Assess the whole channel: Review the content viewers watch most, recent and popular uploads, and whether repeated streams dominate the channel.
Or let it run in the cloud
