A VPS can run an encoder that sends a cartoon feed to YouTube, including continuously. Whether it stays live depends on the server’s ability to encode the chosen format and sustain its outbound connection—not on YouTube certifying a particular VPS. Before you configure one, check channel eligibility, set the audience correctly, and make sure you have the rights to broadcast every cartoon.
What a VPS does in a YouTube livestream
A VPS is a remotely hosted computer. You run streaming software on it, configure that software to send video to YouTube, and keep the process running on the server. YouTube supports encoder-based streams, including software encoders; using a VPS is a hosting choice for that encoder, not a separate YouTube streaming method. YouTube does not certify a particular VPS provider, operating system, encoder, or server size. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance explains the platform workflow.
A server that can start the encoder is not necessarily one that can sustain it. Capacity depends on the stream’s resolution and bitrate, the VPS’s sustained encoding performance, outbound bandwidth, and connection reliability. YouTube does not publish a universal CPU or RAM specification for a cartoon livestream.
Check eligibility, audience settings, and rights first
Confirm the channel can livestream
YouTube says livestreaming requires a verified channel with no livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its getting-started guidance says creators must be at least 16. Check the channel’s current live-stream access before spending time configuring the VPS. YouTube’s livestreaming eligibility guidance has the platform requirements.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set the audience accurately
If the cartoon stream is directed to children, use YouTube’s correct Made for Kids audience designation. Made for Kids streams lose or restrict features, including live chat and personalized ads; comments, notifications, and other features are also affected. Do not build the stream’s plan around interactions or features that will not be available. See YouTube’s guidance on content made for kids and its livestreaming guidance.
Clear the right to rebroadcast every cartoon
Technical ability to send a video does not grant permission to broadcast it. Confirm that you have the necessary rights for every cartoon and any included music, clips, or other material. YouTube lists copyright strikes and matches to another copyrighted live broadcast among possible reasons for livestream restrictions. No particular cartoon or license is established as cleared here. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams before going live.

Plan capacity and stream settings
Choose the resolution and bitrate you intend to send, then make sure the VPS can encode that workload continuously and has enough dependable outbound bandwidth. YouTube recommends 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above the total stream bitrate. For example, if the total stream bitrate is 5 Mbps, the connection should have at least 6 Mbps available for the stream under that recommendation. This is bandwidth headroom, not a guarantee that the VPS can encode the video or that its connection will never fail. YouTube warns, “A disruption on your connectivity could mean a broken stream.” YouTube’s streaming tips cover connection and stream health.
There is no evidence-based universal VPS size to prescribe for every cartoon feed. Compare options using the intended resolution and bitrate, sustained encoding capability for that workload, outbound bandwidth and reliability, monitoring and recovery effort, and the provider’s current terms. YouTube’s guidance gives streaming recommendations but does not benchmark VPS vendors or establish a standard CPU/RAM configuration.

Set up and test the VPS workflow
- Verify access and permissions. Confirm livestream eligibility for the channel, choose the correct audience designation, and establish broadcast rights for all content in the feed.
- Choose the stream format. Decide the target resolution and bitrate, then check that the VPS can sustain the encoding workload and has outbound bandwidth with YouTube’s recommended headroom.
- Create the YouTube stream and configure an encoder. Follow YouTube’s encoder-based setup flow and enter the stream credentials in the software running on the VPS. Keep stream credentials private; anyone with access may be able to broadcast to the channel.
- Start with a test and preview. Set up the encoder in advance and inspect the Live Control Room preview before relying on the feed. Check that the picture and sound are present and that the stream health indicators do not show a problem. YouTube’s Live Streaming API getting-started documentation describes the platform’s live workflow; the encoder setup guidance covers preparing a stream.
- Monitor operation and recovery. Watch stream health rather than assuming that a running VPS process means viewers are receiving a healthy stream. If you configure a backup encoder, test failover in advance. YouTube recommends checking stream health and testing configured failover. Streaming tips provide further guidance.
Common problems and what to check
- The channel cannot start a live stream: Check verification, current live-stream access, and whether a restriction applies, including a restriction within the previous 90 days.
- The stream stalls or drops: Check the VPS’s outbound connection and available bandwidth against the total configured bitrate, including the 20% headroom recommendation. A network disruption can break the stream.
- The VPS struggles to encode: Reassess whether its sustained capacity is adequate for the selected resolution and bitrate. YouTube does not provide a universal server-size guarantee; test the actual workload before depending on it.
- The preview or stream health shows trouble: Inspect the encoder configuration and connection, use the Live Control Room preview, and monitor stream health. If you have a backup encoder, verify failover rather than assuming it will work.
- Features such as live chat are unavailable: Check the audience designation and the Made for Kids restrictions. Plan for the features YouTube makes available to that stream.
- The stream is restricted or interrupted over content: Review rights for every element in the feed and YouTube’s copyright rules; having a file or being able to transmit it does not establish rebroadcast permission.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a YouTube stream of uploaded videos without keeping a VPS encoder configured and monitored, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. The steps are: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; StreamNeo loops the upload from the cloud. It supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a live camera feed. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
