Yes. A YouTube gaming rerun can include videos that play at different resolutions. YouTube says it transcodes live streams into multiple output formats, while the quality available for each video depends on that video and the viewer’s device and network. There is no documented special “mixed resolution rerun” mode.
What “gaming rerun” can mean
The phrase may refer to a completed livestream replay, rewinding a stream that is still live, or playing several gaming videos in sequence. These are different situations: a sequence contains separate videos with their own playback options, while DVR controls rewinding a live broadcast.

Why different resolutions can appear
YouTube’s encoder guidance says it automatically transcodes a live stream into multiple output formats so viewers across devices and networks can watch. As a result, the playback quality can differ between videos in a rerun or playlist. The exact quality choices are not guaranteed to be identical for every video; check the quality menu on each one. A difference in playback quality alone does not prove that the creator uploaded source files at different resolutions. YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance
Check playback quality video by video
- Open the first gaming video and select the settings gear in the player.
- Open Quality and note the options available for that video.
- Repeat for the next video. Its options may differ, and playback can also respond to the viewer’s device and network conditions.
Do not assume a particular resolution will be available just because it appears on another video. YouTube’s guidance describes multiple output formats but does not promise the same choices for every replay.

If you mean rewinding a live gaming stream
When DVR is enabled, viewers can pause, rewind, and continue during the live stream. This is not the same as choosing the playback quality for a completed replay or a sequence of separate videos. See YouTube’s live stream settings guidance.
If you are configuring a creator’s stream
Creator-side stream resolution and viewer-side playback quality are separate. YouTube’s encoder guidance allows creators to choose a manual stream resolution in the stream key settings; that setting configures the incoming broadcast and does not force every viewer to watch at that resolution. If a broadcast uses primary and backup inputs, Google’s Live Streaming API guidance says they should use the same resolution. This input requirement does not conflict with YouTube transcoding the stream into multiple formats for viewers. Google’s LiveStream configuration guidance

Common confusion
- One video has a different quality menu from another: check each video individually; their available playback choices need not match.
- A live viewer wants to rewind: DVR is the relevant live-stream feature, when enabled; it is distinct from a completed replay.
- Primary and backup inputs do not match: align their resolutions according to Google’s LiveStreaming API configuration guidance.
- A creator changed the manual stream resolution but viewers see other options: manual resolution concerns the incoming stream; YouTube may transcode it into multiple viewer output formats.
