No. YouTube says a person whose channel has been terminated may not use, possess, or create another YouTube channel—including an existing channel or someone else’s channel—to get around the termination. A separate YouTube rule also bars people whose accounts are restricted from livestreaming from going live on another channel while that restriction is active.
What YouTube’s termination rule means
YouTube Help’s “Channel or account terminations” page says: “If your YouTube channel is terminated, you are prohibited from using, possessing, or creating any other YouTube channels.” The restriction is not limited to making a new channel. It covers channels the person already had, later creates or acquires, and channels on which they are repeatedly or prominently featured.

YouTube also prohibits another channel owner from letting a terminated creator use their channel to bypass the termination. So livestreaming from a friend’s, collaborator’s, or family member’s channel is not a permitted workaround. Changing who starts the stream or how the channel is described does not create a stated exception.
How this differs from a livestreaming restriction
A channel termination and a restriction on livestreaming are different actions, but neither permits the affected person to switch channels to keep streaming:

The public policy explains the prohibition, but does not specify how YouTube will assess every individual situation. If you are unsure whether an action or appearance would count as using a channel or bypassing a restriction, do not assume that another channel makes it permissible.
What to do if you think the termination was a mistake
For a Community Guidelines termination, YouTube’s stated route is to review the reason and appeal through YouTube Studio—not to livestream from another account.

- Open the termination notice and note the stated reason. YouTube advises creators to review the reason in YouTube Studio.
- In YouTube Studio, follow the appeal flow shown for that termination and submit your explanation there.
- Follow the limits and deadline shown by YouTube. Its help page says creators have up to one year to appeal and may submit up to two appeals during that year, while also noting limits on appeals for an individual termination. The notice and current Studio flow govern your case.
These appeal instructions concern Community Guidelines terminations. The cited help page does not establish that the same appeal route applies to every possible account action.

Policy scope and uncertainty
This explanation reflects YouTube Help’s termination and livestreaming-restriction guidance checked on October 3, 2026. YouTube’s help pages establish the rules above but do not predict how it will evaluate every borderline case. For a specific account, rely on the termination notice, the current YouTube Studio flow, and the policies applicable to that account.
