Yes—but only if the soundbar is designed or safely adapted for the car’s power, audio connections, mounting location, and driving environment. A vehicle-rated 12-volt soundbar is the most direct permanent option. A household TV soundbar is not a plug-in car-audio upgrade: check its exact power and input requirements, and never connect it to vehicle wiring unless its manufacturer explicitly approves that voltage.
First, identify which kind of soundbar you have
“Soundbar” can mean several very different products. Their shared shape does not make their power, connections, or mounting interchangeable.

- Vehicle-rated soundbar: Built for vehicle power and mounting, though exact voltage range, wiring, inputs, and fit still depend on the model.
- Household TV soundbar: Usually intended for a home power source and home audio equipment. Do not assume it accepts vehicle DC or a car stereo’s signal.
- Portable Bluetooth speaker: Often suitable for temporary listening without permanent vehicle wiring. Secure it so it cannot shift around the cabin; the sources cited here do not establish any particular portable speaker as crash-safe.
- Vehicle-specific speaker assembly: Designed around a particular vehicle. Fit and integration are model-specific rather than universal.
Will it work with your car’s power?
Read the exact product label and manual for operating voltage, current or power needs, fuse and wiring requirements, and installation environment. Do not infer compatibility from another model’s specifications.

For example, PowerBass’s 2020 XL Soundbars manual lists an 8–18 V input range for the XL-1250, XL-850, and XL-650, and says the products are designed for 12-volt negative-ground electrical systems. Those are specifications for the listed PowerBass models, not a general soundbar standard. The same manual lists the XL-850 at 400 W RMS and 800 W peak; these are product ratings, not a guarantee of the soundbar’s real-world output in a particular vehicle. The Massive T8SB manual also describes a 12-volt vehicle soundbar, but its instructions and mounting hardware apply to that product. Check the T8SB owner manual rather than assuming another bar shares its setup.
How will you connect the audio?
Choose the signal path before installing. Playing music from a phone over the bar’s Bluetooth is different from routing the factory stereo through it. The bar must support the source connection you intend to use.

- Phone to bar: Bluetooth can bypass the car stereo. Confirm the soundbar supports Bluetooth and consider whether you will lose the factory system’s controls, calls, or other features.
- Factory stereo to bar: Check the head unit’s available outputs and the soundbar’s inputs. They must match, or a suitable interface must be specified for the equipment. An AUX input on a bar does not by itself establish compatibility with every factory radio.
The PowerBass manual describes Bluetooth and AUX/RCA signal options for its products; that does not prove compatibility with every car stereo. The Massive T8SB manual describes Bluetooth and AUX as well, but its own manual governs its connections.

Vehicle audio can be model-specific. Bose says its factory automotive systems are custom-engineered for each vehicle model and directs owners to the automaker or dealer for parts. Plan a permanent installation safely
- Read the exact manual. Confirm operating voltage, power wiring and fuse requirements, audio inputs, mounting hardware, and installation environment.
- Check the signal and turn-on method. Make sure the intended phone or stereo connection is supported, and understand how the soundbar powers on and off.
- Follow the vehicle and product instructions before wiring. The PowerBass manual says to disconnect the negative battery lead before installation, while warning that some vehicles may require anti-theft codes or computer resets after reconnection. Follow the instructions for your vehicle and product.
- Map the route before drilling or cutting. The PowerBass manual warns installers to locate fuel, brake, oil, and electrical lines, and to use grommets where cables pass through sheet metal. The Massive T8SB manual likewise cautions against damaging fuel, brake, hydraulic, or electrical lines. If you are not comfortable identifying and avoiding these systems, use a qualified installer.
- Mount and route securely. Use hardware suitable for the product and location. Keep the bar clear of occupants and vehicle operation, and protect wiring from pulling, abrasion, and environmental exposure. A vehicle-use label or weather resistance does not prove crashworthiness in every mounting position.
- Keep volume compatible with traffic awareness. The PowerBass manual warns that loud outdoor music can permanently damage hearing and limit the ability to hear other traffic.
What to check before deciding
- Does the manual approve the product’s power source and installation environment?
- Can the intended source connect through a supported input?
- Is there a suitable, unobstructed mounting location with compatible dimensions and hardware?
- Can wiring be installed and protected without risking vehicle lines or systems?
- Would a portable speaker or vehicle-specific audio components better suit temporary use, factory integration, or the listening position you care about?
