No—not as a general rule. A consumer smart ring can help you follow wellness patterns, but it should not replace a medical device used to monitor or manage a health condition. Whether a particular ring can support a medical purpose depends on the exact product, feature and intended use; authorization for one use does not make it suitable for every metric or condition.
Why a health reading is not automatically a medical measurement
A ring may display numbers for sleep, pulse, oxygen saturation or temperature, but the presence of a metric in an app does not establish that it is accurate or authorized for diagnosis or treatment. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) distinguishes certain low-risk general-wellness functions from software intended for a medical purpose, such as diagnosing or treating disease. The intended purpose and the specific function matter—not simply the word “health” on the product or a chart in its app. FDA’s general-wellness policy explains this distinction.

That means there is no useful blanket answer based on the category “smart ring.” Check the exact model and feature against its stated intended use and, where relevant, the FDA’s list of authorized sensor-based digital health technologies and the product’s individual record. The list is periodically updated. An authorization applies to the specific system and stated use; it does not transfer to other rings or other measurements.
What rings can and cannot tell you about specific measurements
Blood glucose: do not use a ring to measure it
The FDA says: “The FDA has not authorized, cleared, or approved any smartwatch or smart ring that is intended to measure or estimate blood glucose values on its own.” The agency issued this warning on February 21, 2024, because inaccurate glucose data could contribute to dangerous treatment decisions. Do not buy or use a ring feature that claims to measure blood glucose. If your care depends on accurate glucose readings, ask a healthcare professional which FDA-authorized device is appropriate. FDA’s glucose safety communication has the full warning.

- [Get the right size first – Sizing kit recommended]:We recommend ordering our sizing kit first. Wear the tester ring for 24 hours to confirm which size feels most comfortable. Or measure the widest part of your finger with a soft string, then compare with our size chart. No half sizes – if you are between two numbers, choose the larger one (your finger may swell during the day, after exercise, or in warm weather). Once your smart ring arrives, download the free app to pair and start using it.
- [Accurate activity tracking – Multi-sport modes & GPS route]:This fitness tracker ring automatically tracks your steps, distance, and calories – no manual operation needed. To record outdoor routes, simply enter workout mode in the app, and the ring will use your phone’s GPS to map your trail. Whether you are on a morning run, cycling to work, hiking, or at the gym, this ring keeps up. A perfect activity tracker for women who love outdoor adventures, and a hassle‑free fitness ring for men.
- [24/7 health monitoring – Heart rate, SpO₂, sleep & stress]:Wear it all day and night. It continuously monitors your heart rate and SpO₂, breaks down your sleep into REM, deep, and light stages, and tracks your daily stress level. This sleep tracker ring and health ring show long‑term trends through the free app, so you can clearly see how your rest and recovery change over time. A true health ring for women and fitness tracker for men – no subscription fees, no hidden charges.
- [IP68 waterproof – Swim, shower & sweat without worry]:The wearable ring is rated IP68 waterproof. You can wear it while swimming, showering after the gym, washing your hands, or jogging in heavy rain – no need to take it off. Whether you are a smart ring for women who enjoys pool workouts or a smart ring for men who loves outdoor sports, this waterproof smart health ring is designed for real‑life scenarios.
- [Long battery + charging case + hassle‑free support]:Charge for about 1 hour – a full charge lasts 2‑3 days. The charging case holds enough power to recharge your ring 8 times – perfect for travel. The free app has no monthly subscription. Questions about sizing, pairing, or health data? Customer support is here to help. A reliable health tracker and activity tracker without subscription for men and women – ideal for everyday wellness.
Blood pressure: avoid unauthorized wearable features
The FDA warns against using unauthorized blood-pressure devices, including wearable software features on smartwatches and smart rings. If your care depends on accurate blood-pressure measurements, use an appropriate FDA-authorized device as advised by your healthcare professional. A ring’s displayed estimate is not a substitute simply because it appears in an app. See the agency’s blood-pressure safety communication.
Oxygen saturation: treat a reading as an estimate, not a diagnosis
Pulse oximeters estimate blood oxygen saturation and pulse rate. The FDA cautions that readings can be inaccurate and should be considered alongside symptoms and other information. A consumer reading does not let you diagnose hypoxia; only a healthcare provider can make that diagnosis. A small number of over-the-counter pulse oximeters intended for medical use have FDA clearance, so check the exact device and its intended use if you need oxygen measurement. FDA’s pulse-oximeter guidance explains the limits.

Pulse, sleep and temperature: check the ring’s specific use
Do not assume that a ring’s performance or authorization for one metric applies to another. For example, the FDA’s record for the Happy Ring Health Monitoring System lists movement, electrodermal activity, oxygen saturation, pulse rate and peripheral skin temperature, along with use limitations. It says the system is not intended to monitor oxygen saturation, pulse rate or respiration rate during motion or low perfusion. Those conditions matter when interpreting what the device is intended to do. The FDA decision summary for the Happy Ring system describes its stated uses and limitations.
When a ring is part of a medical workflow
Some ring systems have FDA authorization for defined purposes. For example, the FDA record for Happy Health Home Sleep Test describes software that uses ring data to aid evaluation of sleep-related breathing disorders in adults suspected of sleep apnea. It is for people aged 22 or older, in clinical or home settings under the direction of a trained healthcare provider, and its outputs are intended for clinician review. That is a clinician-directed workflow—not evidence that the ring alone is a universal sleep-apnea diagnostic device. The FDA 510(k) document sets out the system’s intended use.

The FDA’s list also includes named ring systems such as the Happy Ring Health Monitoring System (K240236) and Evie Med Ring (K241090). These examples show why authorization must be checked at the product-and-use level. They do not establish that a generic consumer ring can replace a medical device, or that any listed system is authorized for every feature a manufacturer may offer.
How to decide what to rely on
- Identify the measurement and decision. Ask what you need to know—such as glucose, blood pressure or oxygen—and whether the result will guide medication, treatment or another health decision.
- Check the exact feature’s intended use. Look at the product labeling and the FDA record for the specific ring system, not just the brand or marketing description. Confirm that the stated use covers the measurement and purpose you have in mind.
- Use a suitable medical device when accuracy matters for care. For glucose and blood pressure, follow the FDA’s warnings about unauthorized ring features. For oxygen measurement, check that the particular pulse oximeter is authorized for medical use and understand that readings have limits.
- Discuss concerning readings and symptoms with a healthcare professional. Do not treat a ring’s number as a diagnosis or use it alone to make a treatment decision. For oxygen readings in particular, consider symptoms and other information rather than relying on the number in isolation.
What accuracy comparisons can—and cannot—tell you
There is no broadly applicable, directly comparable accuracy figure establishing how smart rings perform against medical devices across brands and metrics. Accuracy cannot be inferred from one measurement, model or use case and applied to another. The FDA’s stated limitations for a particular ring or its authorization record are more useful than an unsupported percentage or a blanket claim that rings are accurate enough for diagnosis.
