Yes—but only if you explicitly get valid authentication state to the screenshot browser, or the service can sign in through a supported method. A remote screenshot service cannot automatically read cookies stored in your everyday browser. Whether the page opens also depends on how the site authenticates you and what the provider supports.
How cookie reuse works
A screenshot service typically opens the page in its own browser context. That context starts without the cookies in your local browser unless you provide them through a documented mechanism, connect a local browser, or use a supported sign-in flow. Playwright, for example, documents saving authentication state and loading it into a new browser context; Cloudflare Browser Run documents authentication options for its screenshot endpoint.

These are explicit ways to supply authentication—not automatic access to your separate browser session. A service that accepts cookies still cannot guarantee that those cookies alone will reproduce your signed-in session.
Why valid cookies may not be enough
Websites can keep authentication state in more than cookies. Playwright documents cookies, local storage, IndexedDB and passkeys as possible parts of authentication state. Session storage may require additional save-and-load handling. If a site needs state or a login step the screenshot workflow does not provide, the service may show a login page even when you can view the page in your own browser.

Authentication state can also expire, and a site may impose requirements beyond the mechanism a provider supports. Treat a login-page screenshot as a diagnostic clue, not proof on its own that the screenshot service is broken.
Ways to capture a page you can already access
Take the screenshot locally
For a one-off capture, use the browser in which you are already signed in. This avoids sending session cookies to another provider. Playwright can also capture a page in a browser context initialized with saved authentication state; its documentation describes saving state and using it in a new context. Keep the state file out of version control.

Use a remote service with explicit authentication support
Before sending state, check the provider’s current documentation for the method it supports—such as cookies, HTTP authentication, login steps, or another state-transfer option—and whether that method fits the target site. Cloudflare Browser Run documents authentication options, including a cookies parameter for Quick Actions endpoints such as screenshots. Another screenshot API documents a cookies parameter that sets name/value pairs on the target host before page load. Neither example establishes universal support or guarantees a particular site will accept the supplied state.

Protect your account before sharing session state
Session cookies and saved browser state are credentials. Playwright warns that a browser state file may contain sensitive cookies and headers that could be used to impersonate you or your test account. Apply the same care you would to a password or token.
- Review the provider’s current security and privacy documents before submitting cookies or other account state. Documentation that describes an authentication feature does not, by itself, establish storage, retention, employee access, encryption, deletion or breach-response practices.
- Use a limited-purpose account when possible and provide only the state needed for the capture.
- Do not commit saved authentication-state files to version control or share them in logs, support tickets or public links.
- If session state is exposed, revoke or rotate it where the site allows. These are prudent handling steps; they are not claims that every screenshot provider offers those controls.
How to diagnose a login-page screenshot
- The service opened a login page: confirm that authentication state was actually supplied and that the provider supports its format. A fresh remote browser does not inherit your local cookies by default.
- The cookies were supplied but access still fails: the state may have expired, or the site may rely on local storage, IndexedDB, session storage, a passkey or a sign-in step that the workflow did not reproduce.
- The provider documents cookies, but this site still rejects them: check the target host and cookie requirements against the provider’s instructions, then verify whether the site has additional authentication requirements.
- You cannot establish how submitted state is handled: do not send a live session to that provider until its current privacy and security practices are clear. Use a local capture if that meets your need.

- Authentication methods: Does it support the exact state or sign-in method the website needs?
- Browser context: Does it use a separate remote context, or capture through a connected local browser?
- Credential handling: What do its current documents say about storage, access, retention and deletion?
- Site-specific requirements: Does the target require state beyond cookies, or an authentication flow the service does not support?
The documented examples establish that some tools offer explicit authentication mechanisms. They do not establish that any service can import ordinary browser cookies automatically, nor do they provide a comparative security assessment.

If I can open the page in my browser, will an API be able to screenshot it?
Not automatically. The API needs a supported way to receive the authentication state or sign in independently.

Does a cookies parameter prove my members-only page will work?
No. It shows that a provider accepts cookie input, not that the site’s authentication depends only on those cookies or will accept them.
