Not as a confirmed, system-wide feature. Samsung documents app continuity between the cover and main displays, plus Flex Mode for partially folded use, but its official guidance does not describe a switch—including a Good Lock option—that makes every app visually track the hinge like an iPhone-style fold animation. An individual app can provide its own visual transitions, but that is different from an operating-system-wide effect.
What Samsung’s fold features actually do
App continuity keeps you in the same app
Samsung says users can “Continue using apps on the cover screen by folding the device.” That describes continuing to use an app when changing displays; it does not establish that the interface continuously morphs in sync with hinge movement. Samsung’s original Galaxy Fold description also explained moving an app between the cover and main displays when opening or closing the device. Flex Mode is for a partially folded device
Flex Mode supports using the phone in a partially folded posture, with app layouts or controls suited to that position. It is not evidence of a continuous transition between the cover and main displays. Samsung’s support page describes Flex Mode, and its developer guidance covers app behavior in that posture.

An app can be designed to adapt its layout to the cover and main screens and to show a visual transition when entering or leaving Flex Mode. Samsung’s developer guidance says, “Show a visual transition effect when changing into or out of Flex mode.” That refers to an app experience; it does not promise that the launcher or operating system will animate every app as the device opens. There is also a specific limit in the standard Android foldable API: Jetpack WindowManager’s FoldingFeature reports fold-related information but does not expose hinge angle. An app using that documented API cannot rely on it for the precise, continuously sampled angle needed to synchronize an animation with hinge motion. This does not rule out OEM-specific or privileged capabilities; it defines what the standard API cited here establishes. See Android’s fold-aware app guide.
Does Good Lock add the effect?
Samsung’s official documentation reviewed here describes app continuity, Flex Mode and related foldable guidance, but does not describe a Good Lock switch for an exact, system-wide, hinge-synchronized transition. That is not proof that no third-party or model-specific implementation exists; it means the official sources do not confirm one. Samsung’s support documentation discusses the documented fold features, while its Good Lock page does not establish this animation as a feature.

What to check on your Fold
- For continuing an app across displays: check Samsung’s support instructions for your exact Fold model and software version. Feature availability and settings can vary.
- For partially folded layouts: check whether Flex Mode is supported on your model and whether the app supports the relevant behavior. Samsung’s support page lists model-specific exceptions; for example, the page retrieved lists Z Fold8 among devices where Flex Mode is not supported.
- For an app-specific transition: look for support from that app’s developer. An app’s own effect will not establish that other apps—or the system interface—will behave the same way.
- For a Good Lock or third-party option: verify current compatibility with your model and One UI version, and distinguish an app-level effect from a system-wide animation. The official sources cited here do not verify an option that works across all apps.
Because Samsung’s model support and menu guidance can change, use the support page for your device and region rather than assuming a path shown for another Fold generation applies to yours.
