Samsung does publish guidance for connecting Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) glucose meters to Samsung Health, but in that setup the separate meter measures glucose; the watch is not the measuring instrument. Seeing readings from a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) on a Galaxy Watch is a separate compatibility question, and the official documents reviewed do not confirm a universal Galaxy Watch pairing.
Can a Samsung Galaxy Watch measure blood sugar?
Samsung’s reviewed support and feature pages do not list built-in blood-glucose measurement as a Galaxy Watch capability. Samsung’s June 2026 Vitals announcement describes five overnight signals—heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature and blood oxygen—but not glucose. Those health sensors should not be treated as a way to infer or diagnose blood-sugar levels.

Measurement by a separate glucose meter
Samsung Developer lists compatibility guidance for BLE glucose meters connecting with Samsung Health. This is a connection path for an external device: the meter takes the measurement, and supported software can make its data available in the health app. The guidance does not establish that every meter works with every phone or watch, or that the Galaxy Watch itself measures glucose. Samsung Developer’s BLE glucose meter guidance is the place to check connection details and supported configurations.

Readings from a continuous glucose monitor
A CGM uses its own sensor and system to provide glucose readings. Whether those readings can also be shown on a watch depends on the CGM maker’s app and support for the precise phone, watch, software and country. A smartwatch display is not the same thing as the watch measuring glucose.
Dexcom’s direct-to-watch instructions reviewed here describe Apple Watch and do not confirm Galaxy Watch support. Abbott’s reviewed FreeStyle LibreLink compatibility document covers phone and operating-system combinations, not a current Galaxy Watch display setup. Neither establishes a universal Samsung-watch configuration.

How to check whether your setup is supported
- Identify the exact devices. Note your Galaxy Watch generation and software version, Samsung phone model and Android version, and the exact glucose meter or CGM model and app.
- Check the glucose-device maker’s current compatibility information. Look for your precise phone, operating system, watch model and country—not merely a statement that the app works on a phone or supports a smartwatch generally.
- Check Samsung’s local requirements for the Samsung Health feature you plan to use. Samsung Health Monitor is a separate app with its own compatible-device and regional conditions; its requirements do not establish glucose-monitoring support.
- Confirm the intended data path. Determine whether the meter or CGM sends readings to a phone app, Samsung Health, or a watch display, and which component actually measures glucose. If the manufacturer’s instructions do not explicitly include your configuration, do not assume it is supported.
Why country and device requirements matter
Samsung’s US support page says Samsung Health Monitor works only with compatible Samsung phones and watches, is unavailable on other Android models and iOS, and requires a country where the relevant app feature has launched. Its general pairing requirements include a qualifying Galaxy Watch and a Samsung Galaxy phone running Android 12 or later; individual features can have additional requirements. These are Samsung Health Monitor conditions, not evidence that it measures glucose. Check Samsung’s US Samsung Health Monitor requirements for the local, current details.
Samsung’s UK Galaxy Store listing notes that some features are subject to medical-device approval and regional restrictions. It also says availability may be restricted after travel, a factory reset or reinstall in a country where the service is unavailable. Those are UK listing details and should not be generalized to every market. See the UK Galaxy Store listing.

Compatibility for CGM display can change independently of Samsung Health Monitor availability. Check the current manufacturer pages for the exact CGM, app, phone, watch software and country. The documents reviewed here do not provide a complete current Samsung Galaxy Watch compatibility matrix for Dexcom or FreeStyle Libre.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not use a watch display as a substitute for glucose monitoring
A Galaxy Watch health-sensor reading is not a glucose result. Do not use it to replace a glucose meter, CGM, prescribed monitoring plan or medical advice. Follow the instructions for your glucose device and ask your clinician how to use readings when making diabetes-care decisions. If a watch display is available in a particular supported setup, verify what the manufacturer says it is intended to do and whether it is suitable for your care.
