Can a Cloud Service Loop Videos on an Unlisted YouTube Livestream?

Yes. A cloud service can send prerecorded video to YouTube as a continuous livestream, and you can set that livestream’s visibility to unlisted. The service acts as a remote encoder; YouTube is not simply replaying an uploaded video as a live broadcast. Anyone with the unlisted watch-page link may be able to view it, so share that link carefully.

How an unlisted cloud livestream works

YouTube accepts livestreams from an encoder and lets creators choose public, private, or unlisted visibility. A cloud looping service takes the video or playlist you select and sends it to YouTube as a live stream. Instead of running an encoder such as OBS on your own computer, the hosted service performs that job remotely. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance describes the platform workflow; Looping Stream describes its own hosted media-selection and continuous-broadcast workflow.

Unlisted is a YouTube visibility setting, not a guarantee of secrecy: people who have the direct watch-page URL may be able to watch. YouTube notes that unlisted content can become public through sharing its direct URL. Do not distribute the link as though it were password-protected.

Set up the stream

  1. Enable live streaming on the channel. If this is the first time, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
  2. Create or schedule the livestream in YouTube Studio. Set its visibility to Unlisted. Review the title and other stream details before starting.
  3. Copy the ingest details into the cloud service. YouTube provides a server URL and stream key for the encoder connection. Treat the key like a password: only enter it into a provider you have chosen to trust, and follow that provider’s current directions for storing, rotating, or revoking it. The cited provider information does not establish how it secures stream keys.
  4. Choose the media and playback order. Select a video or playlist and configure repeat and ordering options supported by the service. Looping Stream says its workflow supports a single file or multiple videos in order and a YouTube RTMP destination; that is the provider’s description of its own service, not an independent test.
  5. Start or schedule the cloud broadcast, then verify it in YouTube Studio. Check the preview and stream health, and confirm that the watch page is actually unlisted before sharing its URL. YouTube’s encoder instructions cover previewing and launching a stream.
  6. Decide whether you need a replay archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited guidance does not promise a complete archive for a continuous broadcast that exceeds that duration.

Check encoder compatibility

A cloud service still has to send a compatible encoded feed to YouTube. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension of RTMP, for live ingest. Its current encoder settings guidance covers supported video and audio formats, including H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video and AAC or MP3 audio, and specifies constant-bitrate encoding. The exact settings depend on resolution and frame rate; check YouTube’s current tables and the provider’s supported output settings rather than assuming one generic bitrate or configuration will fit every stream.

YouTube’s verified encoder directory lists Gyre as a cloud option for continuous prerecorded-video streaming and reproduces the vendor’s descriptions of Full HD and 4K capabilities. Those directory descriptions are not a guarantee of performance. The directory also lists AWS Elemental MediaLive as an encoder, but that listing by itself does not establish a turnkey playlist-looping workflow.
