Possibly—but a 24/7 YouTube stream is not a dependable shortcut to 1,000 subscribers. It can give people more chances to find and watch your channel, but YouTube publishes no figure showing that continuous streaming produces a particular subscriber gain. Discovery depends on factors such as format and promotion; viewers still need a reason to subscribe and return.
And 1,000 subscribers alone is not enough for the main YouTube Partner Program (YPP) eligibility threshold. You also need to meet one of YouTube’s watch-time or Shorts-view requirements, satisfy the program rules, and pass channel review.
What 1,000 subscribers does—and does not—qualify you for
YouTube’s current YPP overview lists two main eligibility routes:
- Long-form and live viewing: 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 12 months.
- Shorts: 1,000 subscribers plus 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days.
These thresholds make a 24/7 stream only one possible part of a broader eligibility effort. Watch time does not replace the subscriber requirement, and reaching the numbers does not guarantee acceptance: YouTube reviews the channel and requires compliance with its policies. Application readiness also involves requirements such as being in an eligible country or region, having no active Community Guidelines strikes, enabling two-step verification, having access to advanced features, and linking an AdSense for YouTube account. Check YouTube’s current eligibility page before applying, since requirements and feature availability can change.
Can a 24/7 stream bring in subscribers?
It may create more opportunities for viewers to encounter your channel, but streaming continuously does not itself establish a discovery advantage or convert viewers into subscribers. YouTube does not publish an attributable 24/7-stream subscriber-growth rate or conversion percentage. Treat any promise of a predictable subscriber count from simply staying live with skepticism.
Think of the stream as a way to make content available, not as a substitute for a clear channel proposition. A focused topic, a format that serves viewers, and reasons to return can help a first-time viewer decide whether to subscribe. That is practical audience-building advice, not a guaranteed result from YouTube.
How live format affects discovery and features
YouTube documents a specific discovery difference: vertical live streams can appear in the Shorts feed, where viewers can scroll among live streams; horizontal live streams do not appear in that feed. This makes vertical worth considering if reaching Shorts-feed viewers fits your content, but it does not prove that vertical streams will get recommended, watched, or subscribed to more often. Format can also affect what tools and viewing experiences are available. YouTube’s setup guidance discusses differences involving clickable links in chat or descriptions, pre-roll and mid-roll ads, and other live features. Check the current feature details in YouTube Help and choose based on your content and audience rather than assuming one orientation is universally better.
Do livestream watch hours count toward monetization?
They may count toward the 4,000-hour route if they meet YouTube’s qualification and visibility conditions. YouTube says livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to video on demand (VOD) do not count toward the qualified public watch-hour threshold. If you are relying on a stream’s viewing time, keep its replay public and available as an archive.
Subscribers and watch hours are separate outcomes: a stream might gain subscribers without producing eligible archived public watch hours, or add watch hours while few viewers choose to subscribe. Track both rather than assuming one guarantees the other. The YPP eligibility page explains the watch-hour exclusions.

How to give a stream a better chance of reaching people
Promote it before it begins
For a scheduled stream, YouTube recommends sharing the event link in advance, including at least 48 hours before going live. Promote it in places where your intended audience already follows you and make clear what viewers will get from tuning in. Promotion may help people find the event; it is not a guarantee of reach. YouTube says a public archive can increase the reach of future streams. Organize replays and useful highlight clips into playlists so viewers can find related material. If watch hours toward YPP matter to you, remember that an unlisted, deleted, or non-VOD livestream does not count toward the qualified public watch-hour threshold.
Give viewers a reason to subscribe
Make the stream’s subject and value clear, then maintain a format or schedule that gives the right audience a reason to return. Use chat and other available interaction tools to make the broadcast feel relevant to viewers. A high stream duration without an audience fit is not evidence of growth.

Check rights and channel policies before leaving content live
Before broadcasting continuously, confirm that you have the necessary rights to every video, song, image, and other material in the stream. YouTube’s live-stream guidance says creators must have the rights needed for streamed content; a loop does not make material safe to use. Also follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and monetization policies. A channel must meet applicable program requirements and pass review to join YPP.
How to test whether it is working for your channel
Run a defined experiment rather than judging by the subscriber total alone. Pick a consistent time window, record a baseline, and compare results during the test. Keep the content and promotion approach as consistent as practical so you can interpret changes.

- Note the stream format (vertical or horizontal), schedule, topic, and promotion used.
- Compare the same metrics across the chosen periods, and look for changes in both discovery and return viewing—not just hours spent live.
- Keep, adjust, or stop the approach based on whether it attracts the audience you want and supports your goals.
This is a measurement plan, not a promise that continuous streaming will improve any metric.
