Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesYes—if “offline” means you are away while the stream is still broadcasting, YouTube may serve ads and the stream may earn ad revenue. If the broadcast has ended, it can earn later only when eligible viewers watch an available, monetized replay. Neither a 24/7 schedule nor an ad-enabled stream guarantees that ads will be served or that it will make money.
What “offline” means for ad revenue
| Situation | Can ads earn revenue? |
|---|---|
| Your stream is still live, but you are not present | Potentially. A monetized channel can enable live ads while the broadcast continues. You do not have to be personally present for YouTube to serve an ad, but ad slots are not guaranteed to fill. |
| The broadcast has ended and its replay is available | Potentially. Eligible replay views may earn Watch Page ad revenue if the channel has the necessary monetization setup and the replay remains available and policy-compliant. |
| No stream is live and nobody is watching an eligible replay or other monetized video | No ad-viewing opportunity is created just because the channel previously ran a 24/7 stream. Later revenue requires eligible views of available monetized content. |
YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance says that monetized streams can trigger ads when monetization is enabled, while warning: “Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.” A replay is a separate Watch Page viewing opportunity, not an extension of the live broadcast.

What you need before a live stream or replay can earn
Qualify for YouTube ad revenue
YouTube’s YouTube Partner Program overview lists the ad-revenue eligibility thresholds as 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 valid public watch hours on long-form videos in the past 12 months or 10 million valid public Shorts views in the past 90 days. A channel must also meet other program requirements and pass YouTube’s review. Thresholds and terms can change, so check the current requirements in YouTube Studio.
Enable monetization and accept the relevant terms
For a live broadcast, enable monetization for the stream. For long-form and live-stream videos watched on the Watch Page, YouTube requires YPP partners to accept the Watch Page Monetization Module to earn ad and YouTube Premium revenue. See YouTube’s guide to choosing how to monetize. YouTube Analytics reports ad revenue from live streams and live replays.

Meet content and rights requirements
Monetization remains subject to YouTube’s channel monetization policies and advertiser-friendly content guidelines. When enabling ads, creators must have the necessary rights to the visual and audio elements in the stream. A long-running or unattended broadcast is not exempt from those requirements.
Plan for the replay before starting a 24-hour broadcast
Do not assume YouTube will automatically save one complete archive of a continuous 24-hour stream. YouTube’s archive guidance says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns, “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” If preserving a replay matters, arrange a recording or broadcast plan that keeps a copy independently; YouTube recommends a local archive backup.

That limitation matters for post-stream revenue: a replay cannot earn from views if a usable replay does not exist or is no longer available. Separate broadcasts or a recording plan may be more suitable when you need complete, viewable archives.

How much can live ads add?
YouTube reported that channels which turned on live automatic mid-roll ads saw an average “over 20% uplift in instream ad revenue per hour” compared with channels that did not, averaged across 207 countries in January 2024. This is YouTube’s reported comparison, not a guaranteed result or a causal estimate for an individual channel. Your actual revenue depends on whether ads are served and the viewing and monetization conditions for your content.
