Yes—but streaming 24/7 does not bypass YouTube’s monetization requirements. To receive a share of Watch Page ad revenue, a channel must meet YouTube’s higher YouTube Partner Program (YPP) eligibility threshold, pass channel review, follow monetization policies, and accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. Ads appearing on a stream do not, by themselves, mean its creator is earning.
As of October 3, 2026, the published threshold is 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the previous 90 days. These are eligibility thresholds, not a promise of approval or income.

What a small audience means for ad eligibility
YouTube’s listed eligibility rules do not provide a separate exemption for small channels. A channel with a small audience can qualify if it meets the subscriber and watch-time or Shorts-view threshold, satisfies the other enrollment requirements, and passes YouTube’s review. Keeping a stream running continuously is not itself a qualification.

Meeting a threshold lets a channel apply for review; it does not guarantee acceptance. YouTube also lists enrollment conditions including availability in a supported region, no active Community Guidelines strikes, 2-Step Verification, access to advanced features, and a linked or configured AdSense for YouTube account. When livestream watch hours count
Livestream viewing can contribute to the public watch-hour route, but YouTube excludes livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to video on demand (VOD) from qualified public watch hours. If you are relying on stream viewing time toward the threshold, keep the broadcast public and retain its VOD. The hours must still meet YouTube’s other qualification rules.
Private, unlisted, deleted, ad-campaign, and Shorts watch hours do not count toward the long-form public watch-hour threshold. YouTube explains the exclusions on its YPP eligibility page.

Ads on a stream do not prove the creator is being paid
YouTube may serve ads on content even when its creator has not met the higher YPP eligibility criteria. YouTube’s policy explanation is explicit: “If you do not currently meet the higher eligibility criteria of YPP you may still see ads being served on your content. In this case, you are not yet eligible to receive a share of the revenue.” Therefore, seeing an ad on a live broadcast or its replay is not evidence that the channel owner receives a share.
What must happen after a channel qualifies
- Meet the threshold and enrollment conditions. The subscriber and qualifying activity requirements are only part of the application; the channel must also meet YouTube’s other stated requirements.
- Pass YouTube’s channel review. Reaching the numbers does not automatically enroll a channel in YPP.
- Accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. YouTube requires this module for ad and YouTube Premium revenue on eligible long-form and live videos watched on a Watch Page or embedded in the YouTube player. See Choose how you want to monetize.
- Comply with monetization and advertiser-friendly policies. Eligibility does not make every video suitable for ads; YouTube’s channel monetization policies cover livestreams and monetized content.
How much can a small 24/7 stream earn?
YouTube’s official eligibility and monetization information does not establish an earnings estimate for an individual small-audience 24/7 livestream. Runtime alone cannot support a reliable revenue prediction. Actual ad appearances do not establish that the creator qualifies for a share, and the cited policy pages do not provide a dependable per-view or monthly amount for this case. Treat any specific income promise as unverified unless it is supported by evidence relevant to that channel.

Announced threshold change for February 1, 2027
YouTube’s change notice, accessed October 3, 2026, says new entry thresholds for creators seeking ads and YouTube Premium revenue are scheduled to take effect February 1, 2027: 1,000 subscribers plus either 8,000 qualified watch hours in the previous 365 days or 20 million qualified Shorts views in the previous 90 days. These are announced future thresholds, not the current published requirements as of October 3, 2026. Check YouTube’s change notice for updates, especially if applying on or after the effective date.
