The announcement does not publish a final count of maps, modes or weapons, so “packed” should be read as a description of the planned rollout rather than a confirmed item total.

Eligible pre-order customers receive access to the campaign before October 23. The announcement does not specify a single universal early-access start time, so the exact opening window may depend on the edition, platform and regional schedule shown at purchase.

DMZ early access
The updated DMZ mode begins early access on October 20, three days before the full game. This is separate from campaign early access and gives pre-order players an earlier way to try the refreshed extraction-style experience.

Why the first week matters
The schedule compresses several updates into the launch window. Shipment arrives four days after release, Possession follows two days later, and Infection returns before Halloween. Players who finish the launch-day playlist quickly therefore have a defined stream of near-term additions rather than waiting for the first seasonal reset.

Season 1 starts on November 6, less than two weeks after launch. Its start date is confirmed, but its maps, weapons, events, progression changes and other features were still undisclosed in the announcement. Treat the date as a support milestone, not as a complete Season 1 feature list.

Platforms and who is making the PC version
Modern Warfare 4 is planned for current-generation Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles, plus PC through Steam. Infinity Ward is leading development, while Beenox is handling the Steam PC version. The supplied announcement does not list Xbox One or PlayStation 4 versions.

PC beta requirements and security checks
The official beta guidance sets both hardware and system requirements. An SSD is required, and online beta play requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot. These security settings are separate from the graphics requirements: a sufficiently powerful PC can still be blocked from online beta access if firmware security is disabled.

Prepare Windows before the beta
- Confirm that the PC is running a 64-bit edition of Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Install the game on an SSD rather than a hard disk drive.
- In the motherboard firmware, enable TPM 2.0. On many systems this appears as Intel Platform Trust Technology or AMD firmware TPM.
- Enable Secure Boot after verifying that Windows is installed in UEFI mode. Changing firmware settings without checking the boot mode can make an existing installation fail to start.
- Update the graphics driver and leave enough free SSD space for the game and patches.
Shader preloading and patches
The beta guidance says shader preloading prepares shaders before launch. Its purpose is to reduce first-match stutters and the amount of time spent waiting after starting the game. Most Steam data patches should not require a restart; an exception is a patch delivered while the game is running, which may require closing and reopening it.

What pre-ordering changes
Pre-ordering can provide campaign early access and access to updated DMZ from October 20. A standard purchase still reaches the full game on October 23, including the planned launch multiplayer package. The practical choice is therefore about earlier access and hardware readiness, not a different launch date for the core release.
