Why Activision may ask you to verify
Email verification helps confirm account ownership when linking accounts or changing credentials. Activision may also require some existing account holders to verify before logging in or using games that require an Activision account. Activision says players who verify their email through their account are automatically enrolled in email two-factor authentication (2FA).

If you meant to change the email address
Verifying the address already on your account is different from replacing it. Activision’s account-management instructions say an email address may be updated only once every 12 months. An update requires Authenticator App or SMS 2FA before you start, and suspicious login activity or other abnormal account behavior may delay, restrict, or prevent the change.
- In account management, choose Edit beside Email Address.
- Request the one-time code sent to your current email address and enter it.
- Choose Edit beside Email Address again, enter the new address, and save.
- Enter your Activision account password and save.
- Open the verification message sent to the new address and select Verify Your Email Address.
If you do not see an edit option, contact support. Activision says you cannot change the address through account management if you have lost access to the existing email or are enrolled in email 2FA.

If you no longer have access to the mailbox
First contact your email provider to try to recover the mailbox. If the provider cannot restore access, contact Activision Support; Activision warns it may be unable to change account details for privacy and security reasons. Its guidance also describes logging in with a linked platform account in some circumstances.
If the message or account activity looks suspicious
- You received a notice about an account you do not recognize being linked: log in, unlink that account, and update your password.
- You received a notice about an unrecognized login attempt: update your password immediately.
- Suspicious activity continues: submit an Activision Hacked Account Recovery request. The recovery flow separates hacked-account requests from ordinary account issues.
Rewards and 2FA details can change
Activision’s verification article, updated August 18, 2026, describes a promotion for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Call of Duty: Warzone: the Veiled Aurora Weapon Camo, plus five hours each of Double Level XP, Double Weapon XP, and Double Battle Pass XP. Activision says rewards should appear the next time you log in after verification. If the game was already running, restart it; contact support if that does not resolve missing rewards. This is a dated offer, so check the current official terms before relying on its availability. Activision says previously verified email addresses did not need to be verified again for the reward described there; those rewards were automatically granted.

- Officially licensed Call of Duty Ghost figure: Heavy-duty PVC construction with sturdy black base holds gaming controllers, mobile phones, remotes, and more without tipping over during intense gaming sessions
Activision’s 2FA guidance says accounts created after August 18, 2026 must use 2FA, with email 2FA enabled by default for new accounts. Account holders may enroll another method and make it primary. Email 2FA does not replace the SMS 2FA requirement for free-to-play PC accounts. For existing accounts, email 2FA enrollment occurs when verifying email to make an account change. Activision recommends an authenticator app, which generates codes within the app. Check the current 2FA guidance because account-security rules can change.
