CAIS Summit 2026 AI Buildout Panels: What the Sessions Cover and Why They Matter

The CAIS Summit’s 2026 AI-buildout programming treats artificial intelligence as an investment ecosystem, not a chip-only trade. Sessions on October 12–15 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills pair an AI-stack discussion with a separate examination of the data centers, power, grids, networking and private capital needed to operate AI at scale.

What the CAIS Summit AI panel is about

The session titled “From Margin to Opportunity: Investing Across the AI Stack” is scheduled to examine where investment value may accrue across the technology layers that make AI products possible. Robert F. Smith of Vista Equity Partners and Rodrigo Liang of SambaNova Systems are scheduled to participate, with Bloomberg TV anchor Dani Burger moderating.

The phrase “AI stack” is broader than processors. The summit’s event overview places software and AI platforms alongside data centers, energy supply, networking and the private financing required to build capacity. That framing matters for investors because a surge in model use can create demand for several interdependent assets at once: computing equipment, facilities to house it, electricity generation, transmission and distribution upgrades, and software that turns hardware into commercial services.

Who is speaking and what each perspective adds

Robert F. Smith, Vista Equity Partners

Smith brings the perspective of a software-focused investment firm. In the context of the session, that seat is relevant to questions about software businesses, enterprise adoption, margins and the points in the stack where durable economics might develop. The public agenda does not provide his eventual comments or a specific investment recommendation.

Rodrigo Liang, SambaNova Systems

Liang represents an operating AI-technology company. His participation adds a view from the companies building and deploying specialized AI systems, including the practical constraints that connect model performance, hardware requirements and customer demand.

Dani Burger, moderator

Burger, a Bloomberg TV anchor, is scheduled to moderate the conversation. The published material identifies the participants and subject but does not include a transcript or final talking points.

The infrastructure session: the physical side of AI scale

A second program, “The Trillion Dollar Digital Infrastructure and Real Assets Opportunity: Powering the Global Economy,” shifts from technology platforms to the assets that support them. Brandon Freiman of KKR, Mike Forman of Blackstone and Jessica Bailey of Nuveen are scheduled to discuss digital infrastructure and real assets, moderated by Bloomberg TV anchor Romaine Bostick.

For AI, infrastructure capacity is a potential bottleneck. Data centers need reliable electricity and network connections; expanding electricity demand can require new generation, transmission and grid capacity. Financing those projects can involve long-lived private-market capital rather than only public-equity funding. The session title’s “trillion-dollar” wording is a description of the opportunity being presented by the program, not an independently validated forecast of returns or a guarantee that a specific market will reach that size.

How the two sessions differ

Comparison “From Margin to Opportunity” “Trillion Dollar Digital Infrastructure and Real Assets Opportunity”
Buildout layer AI software, platforms and technology companies Data centers, energy, grids, networking and other real assets
Central capital question Where economic value and margins may accrue across the AI stack How the physical capacity for AI and broader digital demand gets financed
Participant mix Software-investment leader and AI-company executive Executives from large alternative-asset managers focused on infrastructure and real assets
Practical relevance Portfolio exposure, software adoption and technology strategy Capacity constraints, energy demand and private-capital deployment

Why the programming matters to advisors

The summit is designed for a professional audience: independent financial advisors, alternative-asset managers and bank issuers. CAIS announced that more than 1,250 people would attend, updating an earlier figure of more than 1,200. For advisors, the paired sessions offer two ways to think about client exposure: ownership or use of AI-related technology businesses, and indirect exposure to the infrastructure investment needed to support computing growth.

That distinction can help prevent a common analytical error—treating every AI-related asset as if it had the same revenue drivers. A software company’s results may depend on customer adoption and pricing, while a data-center or power project may depend on construction costs, utilization, electricity contracts, regulation and financing terms. The summit agenda places those questions next to one another without claiming that they carry identical risks.

What CAIS says about market momentum

In its October 7, 2026 press release, CAIS reported a 53% year-over-year increase in transaction volume and a 55% increase in total platform assets during the first half of 2026. These are CAIS’s own platform metrics, not independent estimates of the AI or infrastructure markets. They help explain why the firm is emphasizing alternative investments and technology-related themes at this year’s summit.

CAIS founder and chief executive Matt Brown said, “As AI and technology reshape our industry, the need for trusted relationships and in-person connectivity has only grown.” He described the summit as a place for the independent wealth and alternative-investment communities to learn, exchange ideas and build relationships.

Event timing and what is—and is not—available publicly

CAIS Summit 2026 runs October 12–15, 2026, at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The lineup and overview establish the intended subjects and speakers. They do not establish what the panelists ultimately argued, whether they endorsed a particular asset class, or whether the sessions produced investable recommendations.

No public transcript or recording is identified in the available event information.
