Burning Sword: Death Sun has a new free demo available on Steam, according to an official announcement from Nomadic Games and publisher Rising Tide on October 1, 2026. The upcoming wuxia hack-and-slash keeps its demanding martial-arts combat and adds light roguelite elements that vary play between attempts. The full game is still listed as coming soon.
What’s in the new demo?
The developers describe the demo as a return to the game’s hardcore, wuxia-film-inspired combat, with light roguelite variation changing the playstyle from one attempt to the next. The announcement lists these features:

- Qi Drain: Steal life and Qi from enemies.
- Rebound: Send objects in the arena into enemies.
- Qinggong: Run up walls and float through the air.
- Boss duels: Face martial artists including chain fighters and masked assassins.
These are descriptions from the developers, not independently verified gameplay findings. The official announcement says the new demo is free for everyone to try: Steam Community announcement.
Is this the same demo that was removed?
The game previously had a prologue demo period in June 2025, with earlier posts discussing its martial-artist encounters and arena-object combat. That history helps explain questions about a demo that had been removed or was unavailable. The October 1, 2026 announcement describes the current build as a brand-new demo and says it is live now. Check the Steam store page for its current availability.
