What the 2026 Tech4Good Awards are
Organised by HT Media Group’s Mint with sponsorship from Salesforce, the awards recognise practical uses of artificial intelligence that address social and economic challenges. The programme began in India in 2024, expanded into South-East Asia in 2025 and includes Sri Lanka for the 2026 edition.

The organisers position the awards around evidence of change rather than AI adoption alone. Puneet Jain, CEO – Digital, HT Media Group, said the test is whether AI “makes a measurable difference to people’s lives.” Salesforce South Asia President and CEO Arundhati Bhattacharya likewise said AI’s success should be judged by the value it creates, with trust, responsible governance and investment in people at the centre.

A project does not need to be a consumer app. Eligible work can include systems used by schools, employers, financial-service providers, farms, hospitals, public agencies, nonprofits or community organisations, provided the technology addresses a defined human need and the applicant can explain what changed.
Categories in the 2026 edition
The programme has six main impact themes, plus two recognitions for emerging innovators:
| Category or theme | What fits |
|---|---|
| Education and livelihoods | Learning outcomes, skills, employability and income opportunities |
| Disability empowerment | Accessibility, assistive services and greater independence |
| Financial inclusion | Access to financial products, payments, credit or financial capability |
| Sustainability | Climate action, resource protection and environmental performance |
| Agriculture and food security | Farming productivity, resilient supply chains and food access |
| Health and sanitation | Healthcare delivery, prevention, public health and sanitation |
| Women AI Innovators | Recognition for women developing or leading AI-for-good work |
| Youth/Student AI Innovator | Recognition for young people and students building useful AI projects |
Two categories debut in 2026:
Best Use of Agentic AI for Social Good
This is for systems that can plan and carry out tasks with limited human input, while pursuing a social-impact objective. Explain which actions the system performs, where people retain control and how failures or unsafe decisions are handled.

- Includes Raspberry Pi 5 with 2.4Ghz 64-bit quad-core CPU (8GB RAM)
- Includes 128GB Micro SD Card pre-loaded with 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS, USB MicroSD Card Reader
- CanaKit Turbine Black Case for the Raspberry Pi 5
- CanaKit Low Noise Bearing System Fan
- Mega Heat Sink - Black Anodized
Best Use of AI for Responsible Leadership
This recognises leadership practices that make AI trustworthy, accountable and useful. Governance, oversight, transparency, staff preparation and responsible deployment matter as much as the model itself.
Each category has Gold and Silver winners.
How judging works
Top entries are scored from 1 to 10 on five dimensions:
- Impact: the significance and quality of the benefit delivered.
- Scale: the number of people reached or the potential to expand responsibly.
- Innovation: what is technically or operationally distinctive about the approach.
- Presentation: how clearly the problem, solution and evidence are communicated.
- Use of technology: whether AI is appropriate, effective and meaningfully integrated.
The strongest evidence is a clear, measurable result. Quantify outcomes such as learners completing courses, reduced processing time, increased income, improved diagnostic access, lower water use or people gaining a service they previously could not reach. State the baseline, measurement period and population covered so judges can interpret the result.

- What specific social problem are you addressing, and who experiences it?
- Why is AI needed instead of a simpler software or non-technical intervention?
- What changed after deployment, and how was that change measured?
- How many people or organisations use the system, and in which eligible country or countries?
- What is technically novel or unusually effective about the implementation?
- How were users, local organisations or affected communities involved in design and testing?
- What safeguards cover privacy, bias, security, human review and errors?
- Which named category best matches the project?
The organisers have not published a single required application word count or a more detailed scoring formula than the five 1–10 parameters. Do not pad an application to an assumed length; use concise evidence, concrete examples and accessible language instead.

Who will assess the entries
The jury includes Arundhati Bhattacharya, Mint Consulting Editor Leslie D’Monte, industry experts, government representatives and delegates from the ASEAN region. The regional panel reflects the programme’s expansion beyond India and its interest in projects that can work across different communities and operating environments.
How the awards fit the wider AI-for-good landscape
The organisers plan an AI Tech4Good Impact Report 2026 covering winning organisations, leaders, policymakers and trends in responsible, trusted and agentic AI. The awards therefore offer visibility as well as a competition result: the 2025 edition received 297 nominations, attracted more than 65,000 live viewers and reached more than 40 million people, compared with over 100 nominations in 2024.
A separate IEEE Humanitarian Technologies Tech4Good programme supports community-centred technology projects addressing local challenges. That route generally expects collaboration with a local organisation such as an NGO, school, university, government entity or clinic, along with an impact assessment. It is separate from Mint’s awards, so applicants should verify its current eligibility rules and deadline independently.
