Neon Plaza, MyZubster’s shared social space, has some safety boundaries that the project has described as in place and several core abuse controls that the project itself said were incomplete. In its October 2026 project update, MyZubster reported that presence expires after 90 seconds of inactivity, public chat expires after one hour, and permanent movement history is not collected. The same update said distributed rate limiting, spam detection, mute, block, reporting, moderator auditing, and formal deletion procedures were not complete at that time. These are the project’s own statements, not the findings of an independent security audit, and the current state may have changed since.
What Neon Plaza is and who can enter it
According to the October 2026 project update, Neon Plaza is a shared environment built on MongoDB-backed presence. Visitors move with keyboard or touch input, can use public chat and emotes, and see other people nearby through proximity awareness. The space includes portals to other MyZubster areas.

Entry is described in two forms. Guests can join without an account, and account-linked characters are resolved through MyZubster accounts. The update also states that client-provided identity claims are not treated as verified. In practical terms, a name or identity shown by a visitor’s own app is not a trusted credential; only the account-linked path carries identity from MyZubster’s side.
The update does not describe a private, invite-only, or locked mode for Neon Plaza. Readers should assume the space is open to any visitor who can reach it unless the project later documents otherwise.

What MyZubster says it keeps, and for how long
The update gives the most concrete retention and privacy statements in the project’s own words. The table below lists them as reported. None of these rows is an independently verified audit result.
| Data or behavior | Reported treatment | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Presence (who is currently in the space) | Expires after 90 seconds of inactivity | Project-reported, October 2026 update |
| Public chat messages | Expire after one hour | Project-reported, October 2026 update |
| Logs | Exclude chat content, tokens, and session identifiers | Project-reported, October 2026 update |
| Movement history | Permanent movement history is not collected | Project-reported, October 2026 update |
| Identity | Account-linked characters resolve through MyZubster accounts; client-provided identity claims are not treated as verified | Project-reported, October 2026 update |
| Deletion requests | Formal deletion procedures were not complete at that time | Project-reported, October 2026 update |
The short retention windows mean that presence and chat are designed to be ephemeral. They do not, by themselves, answer what happens to account records or what a user can request to have removed. The deletion row is the gap to watch.
Which controls are described as in place and which are not
Separating shipped behavior from planned or incomplete work is the most important part of judging Neon Plaza’s safety. The October 2026 update sorts the points into these groups.

| Safeguard | Status in the October 2026 update |
|---|---|
| Presence expiry after 90 seconds of inactivity | Described as in place |
| Public chat expiry after one hour | Described as in place |
| Sanitized, length-limited user inputs | Described as in place |

| Mute | Not complete at that time |
| Block | Not complete at that time |
| User reporting | Not complete at that time |
| Moderator auditing | Not complete at that time |
| Formal deletion procedures | Not complete at that time |
Because mute, block, and reporting are the controls a person would use during a bad encounter, their absence matters most. The update does not describe a working version of any of them, so a visitor should not assume these tools exist in Neon Plaza until the project documents them as live.
Synchronization and the planned technology
The update says the current synchronization model uses shared polling. It describes WebSockets, 3D and WebXR rendering, and spatial voice as future roadmap work. That has a direct safety consequence: spatial voice, a common source of harassment in social spaces, is not part of the present experience as described. The update also confirms that the environment is currently operated through keyboard and touch rather than a VR headset, so a headset is not a requirement for the current space.
What happens when someone reports abuse
The October 2026 update does not describe an operating reporting path, a moderator queue, or a response timeline for Neon Plaza. It lists reporting and moderator auditing as incomplete. Readers and parents should treat the answer to “what happens after I report someone” as unestablished for now, not as a process that works but is undocumented.

Meta’s developer platform offers a reference point for what a discoverable reporting mechanism looks like. Meta’s VR developer post Updates to User Reporting Requirements and Developer Tools in VR, published November 15, 2022 and later updated, says multiplayer apps with user-generated content must provide an in-app reporting mechanism accessible from a designated menu under the VRC guidelines, effective May 31, 2023. That requirement is scoped to apps covered by Meta’s VR platform rules. It is a benchmark, not evidence that MyZubster is bound by it or that it has implemented a similar feature.

The same post frames responsibility as shared: “Managing the metaverse will be a shared responsibility between these groups—and as the metaverse evolves, we’re working closely with you, our developer community, to help ensure your apps are safe and engaging.”
A five-part test for judging safety in a social space
Use the following axes to evaluate Neon Plaza or any similar space. They draw on the project update and on Meta’s developer guidance, which recommends minimizing data collection, explaining why data is requested and how it will be used, and giving people control over who they interact with, such as public versus invite-only lobbies and quick microphone muting.

- Access and identity assurance. Can a visitor be tied to a verified account, and is identity claimed by the client ever trusted? Neon Plaza’s account-linked path answers part of this; the unverified client-claim rule is a stated limit.
- User controls. Are mute, block, and private or invite-only access available? For Neon Plaza, the update does not describe any of these as live.
- Reporting, response, and accountability. Is there a visible report path, a documented response process, and moderator auditing? These were listed as incomplete.
- Data minimization, retention, and deletion. What is stored, for how long, and how is it removed? Presence, chat, and logs have stated limits; deletion procedures were not complete.
- Implementation maturity. Is the behavior shipped and tested, or on a roadmap? Keep these separate in every claim.
Meta’s developer guidance states: “Keeping the metaverse safe and private is a responsibility shared by Meta and developers.” (Meta Horizon OS Developers, Designing for privacy, updated October 6, 2025.) That guidance is written for developers on Meta’s platform. Its privacy-policy requirements do not automatically bind MyZubster, and they should not be presented as universal law.

The World Economic Forum’s 2023 report Metaverse Privacy and Safety discusses the tension between privacy and real-time moderation. It notes that private spaces may call for different moderation approaches than public ones, and that jurisdictional differences affect the answer. Neon Plaza is a public, open space with public chat, so the report’s framing points toward stronger moderation tools being needed in exactly the area the update lists as incomplete. The report is a framework for design trade-offs, not evidence about MyZubster’s own policies.

Best Value
- 256GB Storage Capacity
- Top VR Experience: Oculus Quest 2 features a blazing-fast processor, top hand-tracking system, and 1832 x 1920 Pixels Per Eye high-resolution display, offering an incredibly immersive and smooth VR gaming experience.
- Anti-Slip Controller Grip Covers: grip covers are made of nice silicone material that effectively prevents sweat, dust, and scratches. Anti-slip bumps enhance the handgrip and feel.
- Adjustable Knuckle Straps: knuckle straps make it possible to relax your hands without dropping the controllers. High-quality PU material offers extra durability and velcro design makes it easy to adjust the strap length to different needs.
- Read the project’s own repository documentation and changelog for entries dated after the October 2026 update that mention rate limiting, spam detection, mute, block, reporting, moderator auditing, or deletion.
- Open Neon Plaza and look for a visible report, mute, or block option in the interface. If none appears, the control is not established for practical purposes.
- Check presence expiry directly: open a second session, go idle, and count whether that visitor disappears from the nearby-presence view within about 90 seconds.
- Ask the project in writing what happens to account data and chat after a deletion request, and whether a documented procedure exists.
Only report a control as current when a project document or your own observation of the live space confirms it.
What readers can conclude now
Neon Plaza’s safety design has real, stated boundaries: short presence and chat windows, account-linked identity, and a no-movement-history commitment. Its abuse-response layer, the part people rely on during a bad encounter, was described as incomplete in October 2026. Until the project documents mute, block, reporting, moderation, and deletion as live, a visitor’s protection rests mostly on the limits of what is stored, not on tools to stop or report someone.
The Bottom Line
As of the project’s October 2026 update, Neon Plaza’s documented protections are short retention windows, account-linked identity, and sanitized inputs. Mute, block, reporting, moderator auditing, spam detection, rate limiting, and deletion procedures were reported as incomplete, so treat them as unavailable until current project documentation or the live space shows otherwise.
