Combat is largely automatic, so roster choices do much of the strategic work. Treat published lineups as starting points rather than proven best teams; the available guides do not establish independently measured performance.
Start with the fight and your unlocked slots
Your roster and available team capacity change as you progress. A launch-patch beginner guide reports an eventual limit of 12 Cookies and 3 Pets, with slots unlocking through Main Stages; early players may have fewer slots. Build with the slots you actually have rather than trying to reproduce a late-game lineup.

Before choosing Cookies, identify what the encounter asks of you:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Single target: favor focused damage against one durable enemy.
- Multiple bosses or adds: consider skills that can affect several targets or help keep them in range.
- Crowded waves: favor area damage and effects suited to clustered enemies.
- Long or punishing fights: make room for recovery, shields, or other protection if your damage dealers are not surviving.
Use roles as a starting lineup, not a rule
A CRC Guide Team role template suggests one to two frontline Cookies, two to three attackers or shooters, one to two supports or healers, and zero to one flex slot. This is a guide author’s framework, not an official team requirement. Adjust it to the encounter and the Cookies you have.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Frontline: gives the rest of the team a chance to keep fighting.
- Damage dealers: choose focused damage for priority targets or area damage for waves.
- Support and healing: recovery, shields, and protective effects can help damage dealers stay active.
- Flex: use the remaining slot for a useful debuff, extra protection, or damage that suits the fight.
When comparing two possible lineups, check encounter fit, survivability, damage role, synergy supply, cooldown and buff timing, and whether the team is realistic for your current unlocks and investment. Do not remove a needed healer or frontline Cookie just to add another attacker or increase a synergy count.
Adapt a general-purpose lineup to the mode
CookieRunCrumbles.com’s general-purpose recommendation, updated September 27, 2026, combines Milk and Herb for recovery; Moon Rabbit for ATK Down and CRIT Chance Down; Scorpion, Brightseeker, and Rye for single-target damage; and Melon Soda and Strawberry Crepe for group clearing. These are published recommendations, not independently verified performance results, and you should use only the Cookies and slots available to you.

When the team is dying
The same guide suggests trading a damage Pet for Icy Birdie when the team needs more survivability. If knock-ups interrupt healing, it suggests Candy Shade Pouch. Consider these as situation-specific adjustments, not guarantees that a team will survive.
For bosses and dungeons
Do not assume the same lineup will suit every repeatable mode. The current guide separates boss and dungeon teams. For a multi-boss encounter, it describes using summons to help keep targets close enough for Scorpion’s opening poison to reach all three. For dungeons, its advice shifts some offense toward shields, healing, and protection so the main damage dealer can keep attacking. Match the idea to the actual skills and encounter behavior you see in-game.

Check synergy before investing in a damage skill
The launch-patch roster analysis by ABmonetize team identified seven synergy types: Range, Duration, Rapid Fire, Volley, Projectile Speed, Pierce, and Chain. It counted 18 synergy-providing Cookies among the 71 it tracked in 2026. That is a dated roster snapshot, not a guaranteed current count. Check the in-game skill description and current provider list: a damage skill’s scaling synergy may not help if your team has no Cookie supplying it.
CRC Guide Team describes these tactical uses for the synergy types:

- Chain: suited to groups or boss adds.
- Projectile Speed: helpful against fast or moving targets.

That guide proposes aiming for four active synergies as a practical rule of thumb, not a game requirement. Treat the count as secondary to keeping the team alive and choosing damage that fits the encounter.

What the available evidence can—and cannot—show
Published team pages offer recommendations and roster-based calculations, not established proof of an objectively best lineup. One source explicitly says its compositions were not tested in-game by its authors; the beginner guide also cautions that published in-game performance data was unavailable at the time it was reviewed. Use recommendations as hypotheses to adapt to your roster and the fight, rather than as tested guarantees.
