The best Sword x Staff Fantomon is the one that fills your team’s current need—not automatically the one with the highest tier ranking. For a flexible starting point, consider Pandarial for opening tempo and support, Nyxarchon for damage, or Aegiswing for a particular PvP use case. Before spending scarce materials, understand how the stat slot, combat pet, and four-pet resonance work: they are related, but not the same choice.
How to choose a Fantomon for your team
Choose by role, combat loop, and mode first; treat tier lists as a shortlist rather than a universal answer. Rankings are editorial judgments that can shift with updates and progression. The community-maintained Sword x Staff Wiki tier list, for example, says its rankings account for consistency, survivability, uptime, flexibility, and progression value.

- Damage: Look for direct damage or effects that improve your damage loop, such as Defense Reduction or Fragility.
- Support and healing: Consider healing, shields, defensive effects, or dispels if survival is the bottleneck.
- Opening tempo: A cooldown reduction at the start of battle can bring a key Technique online sooner.
- Mode: A pick useful for general progression may not be the best answer for a boss, farming, or PvP encounter.
- Investment: A lower-cost damage option can be a practical stopgap if you lack the materials or duplicate needed for a more developed build.
The following tier placements are BlueStacks’ editorial ranking, not an official or timeless developer ranking. Its guide places Pandarial, Nyxarchon, and Aegiswing in S tier; Kels, Zeioletus, Sylvaerie, and Terragon in A tier; and Armopi, Chomusuke, Mandragora, Herbote, Boaro, and Falko in B tier. See its Fantomon guide for the ranking and the guide’s descriptions of individual skills.
Which Fantomon fits which combat need?
Pandarial: opening tempo with support utility
BlueStacks describes Pandarial’s Ink Burst as reducing every Technique cooldown by one turn at battle start and granting a damage boost. After Materialization, its guide describes Verdant Spikes applying Fragility and Emerald Dew healing nearby allies. That mix makes Pandarial a flexible candidate when you want a faster opening as well as damage and support utility. The same guide says Pandarial joined the Summon Crystal exchange on August 18, 2026; availability can change, so check the in-game exchange.

Nyxarchon: a damage-oriented alternative
BlueStacks describes Nyxarchon’s Requiem Blast as dealing Dark damage after damaging Techniques and stacking Defense Reduction. Consider it when you want an offensive option and its described effect fits your combat loop. Prydwen’s Prophet build also identifies Nyxarchon as a damage alternative to Pandarial.
Aegiswing: a specific PvP option
Prydwen’s Prophet build recommends Aegiswing for a particular PvP use case, not as a blanket best pick for every mode. Check whether the encounter calls for its role before making it your primary investment.

Other situational choices
Prydwen’s Prophet build also discusses Zeioletus and Sylvaerie as less costly DPS alternatives, Mandragora for additional healing, and Terragon for an attack-lowering debuff. These can make sense when they address a specific team weakness or when a higher-investment choice is out of reach. The guide is a Prophet build, so its recommendations should not be treated as a universal class guide. See Prydwen’s Prophet build guide for the context behind those suggestions.

Separate your stat contributor from your combat pet
Your main deployed Fantomon contributes 100% of its stats, while each of the other three deployed Fantomons contributes 50%. Fantomons elsewhere in your collection contribute 20% each, according to Prydwen’s Fantomon guide, last updated May 19, 2026. The pet you send into combat does not have to be the one occupying the main stat-contributor slot.

This separation lets you use one Fantomon to strengthen your character’s stats while choosing another for the combat skill or support effect your team needs. When choosing the main slot, compare the stat contribution; when choosing the combat pet, compare its role and skill utility.
Keep the deployed quartet close in level
The lowest level among your four deployed Fantomons sets the resonance level for all other Fantomons. One underleveled pet can therefore hold down the effective level of the wider roster. Keep the four deployed pets reasonably even rather than pouring all leveling resources into a single favorite.

Spend aptitude materials on the lineup you actually deploy
Aptitude improves both an individual Fantomon’s stats and your character’s stats. Because the materials are limited, Prydwen recommends investing in the four deployed Fantomons. The guide also says aptitude can be reset if your lineup changes, so a roster shift does not have to lock you into an old allocation.
Best Value

Know what evolution and Materialization change
Evolution is a later progression milestone, not an early shortcut. Prydwen lists these requirements: Mythic rarity, level 108, Numbuville unlocked, and a duplicate. After Materialization, a battle energy ring fills; when it activates, Battle Skills replace Assist Skills until that Fantomon faints. In its unmaterialized form, the Fantomon uses Assist Skills instead. Plan around the form and skills you can currently access, rather than assuming an evolved skill is available immediately.
Build your team in a low-waste order
- Unlock Fantomons: BlueStacks says Fantomons unlock at account level 50 through the large tree at your home base.
- Identify the bottleneck: Decide whether your current need is damage, opening tempo, healing, defense, or a mode-specific effect.
- Pick the combat pet for that job: Use the role recommendations above as candidates, then check that the pet’s described skill works with your character and encounter.
- Set the main stat contributor separately: Put the Fantomon with the most useful stat contribution in the main deployed slot; it need not be your combat pet.
- Keep all four deployed pets level-balanced: The lowest level among them sets the resonance level for the others.
- Prioritize aptitude on the deployed four: Save scarce aptitude materials for the lineup you use, while remembering that aptitude can be reset if it changes.
- Consider evolution when eligible: Check rarity, level, Numbuville access, and duplicate availability before planning around Materialization skills.
What to check when a pick stops working
- Your lineup feels underleveled: Check the lowest-level pet among the four deployed; resonance follows that pet.
- Your character needs stats, but the combat pick is right: Revisit the main stat-contributor slot separately instead of replacing the combat pet.
- Your damage is not improving: Check whether you need more direct damage, an effect such as Defense Reduction or Fragility, or simply a different mode-specific pick.
- A skill you expected is missing: Check whether the Fantomon has been Materialized; Battle Skills replace Assist Skills only after Materialization activates in battle.
