The Brother HL-L2400DW is a print-only black-and-white laser printer aimed at people who mainly produce everyday documents. It combines automatic two-sided printing, Wi-Fi and USB connectivity, and a 250-sheet paper tray. What the Brother HL-L2400DW does—and what it does not
This is a monochrome laser printer, not an all-in-one. It prints documents in black and white, with no scanner or copier. How fast does it print, and does it print double-sided?
Yes. Automatic duplex printing is supported. Brother specifies up to 30 pages per minute on A4 paper, or up to 32 pages per minute on Letter, and up to 15 printed sides per minute in duplex mode (7.5 two-sided sheets per minute). These are manufacturer figures, not independently measured results for this article. Brother says actual speed varies with the document and can be slower over wireless.

The specification family lists a first print in under 8.5 seconds from Ready mode under its stated conditions, and resolution up to 1200 × 1200 dpi. These figures describe the manufacturer’s specifications; they do not establish observed print quality or speed in a particular home or office.
Paper handling and size
The standard input tray holds up to 250 sheets of 80 gsm plain paper, and the face-down output capacity is up to 150 sheets. A manual feed slot handles one sheet at a time. For automatic duplex, Brother specifies A4 plain, thin, or recycled paper from 60 to 105 g/m². The broader media support list includes heavier stock and envelopes for individual manual feeding; that does not mean those media are suitable for automatic two-sided printing.

Connections, phones, and operating-system support
Connections include Hi-Speed USB 2.0, Wi-Fi on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, and Wi-Fi Direct. Brother’s regional materials list mobile-printing options, but support depends on the device, operating-system version, app, and region. The cited UK product listing names ChromeOS, Linux, macOS, and Windows; verify that Brother currently provides a compatible driver for your exact operating-system version before buying.

Stiftung Warentest’s German listing also identifies AirPrint, Mopria, local app printing, and both Wi-Fi bands as product characteristics. Those entries corroborate listed features; they are not performance results. If Wi-Fi Direct is your intended setup, Brother’s FAQ index includes guidance on an Android Print Service Plugin issue on Android 12 or later. Toner, drum, and the cost of ownership
Brother UK lists a 700-page inbox toner cartridge and separate toner and drum units. Its UK replacement options are TN2510, with a declared yield of 1,200 pages, and TN2510XL, with a declared yield of 3,000 pages. These are manufacturer-stated yields tied to ISO/IEC 19752, not guaranteed page counts; actual yield varies with coverage and usage.

Cartridge numbers are regional. Brother’s Nordic brochure lists TN2510 and TN2510XL, while its New Zealand listing surfaces TN2530XL. Do not assume a cartridge code works worldwide: use Brother’s local supply finder or confirm compatibility on the cartridge listing for the exact printer sold in your market. What independent testing establishes
Stiftung Warentest has a database entry for the HL-L2400DW dated 2026-07-22 and identifies the underlying program as “Drucker 3/2023.” The public page describes categories including print, toner costs, handling, versatility, and environmental properties, but the model’s verdict and detailed results are behind paid access. It therefore does not support a published grade, measured speed, toner-cost figure, noise result, or handling score here. For that reason, this review treats Brother’s figures as specifications rather than test measurements. It cannot substantiate claims about real-world text or photo quality, reliability, or how the printer behaves in extended use.
