Its three firmness options and optional Cloud Pillow Top give shoppers room to tailor the feel, but independent testing found a meaningful trade-off: the tested version offered useful pressure relief for some side sleepers while providing weaker support for many back and stomach sleepers. The results apply to one tested configuration, not every version sold.
What is the Signature Hybrid?
Brooklyn Bedding describes the Signature Hybrid as a mattress with foam comfort layers over an encased-coil support core. The standard model is listed at 13.25 inches tall; adding the optional Cloud Pillow Top brings the listed height to 14 inches. The manufacturer says the mattress is made in America using foreign and domestic components.

In the standard construction, Brooklyn Bedding lists a GlacioTex cooling cover, quilt foam, gel-swirl memory foam, responsive foam, transition foam, an 8-inch Ascension X encased-coil core with up to 760 coils, and a base foam layer. The pillow-top configuration adds a cooling cover and additional foam layers. These are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee of a particular feel or performance for every sleeper. Which firmness and configuration should you consider?
The official product page lists soft, medium, and firm, with the Cloud Pillow Top as an additional option. A useful starting point is your sleep position and whether you prioritize a more cushioned surface or a firmer feel. But the available independent results do not establish how each firmness or the pillow-top version performs, so treat this as a choice to verify against the current specifications and trial terms rather than a definitive performance ranking.

That qualification matters because RTINGS tested a unit labeled Signature Soft but said it behaved like a medium mattress. Its findings should not be read as a direct comparison of the three current firmness choices, nor as results for the pillow-top version. RTINGS’ review describes the test unit and its results.
How does it perform for different sleep positions?
RTINGS found the tested unit more promising for side sleeping than for back or stomach sleeping, but its assessment varies by sleeper weight. It reported useful pressure relief for average and heavier side sleepers, while warning that support may be inadequate for many average and heavier back and stomach sleepers. These are findings about RTINGS’ sample, not a universal fit verdict.

AARP Smart Picks reports lab testing on three Brooklyn Bedding mattresses, in queen size unless otherwise noted. It gives the Signature Hybrid above-average ratings for pressure relief and spinal alignment and includes it as a value choice in a back-pain mattress list. That is AARP’s assessment and category framing, not evidence that the mattress treats or prevents back pain. AARP’s back-pain mattress list provides its own testing context.
Cooling, motion transfer, and durability
Cooling
Brooklyn Bedding markets cooling materials, including a GlacioTex cover, but that is a product claim rather than a promise that every hot sleeper will stay comfortable. RTINGS judged cooling adequate for most people, while cautioning that it may fall short for hot sleepers who need especially strong temperature control.

Motion isolation
RTINGS found very good motion dissipation on its tested unit. That may matter to people who share a bed, though the result does not establish identical performance for every firmness and top configuration.
Longevity
RTINGS raised a durability concern based on lower-density foam layers and assigned the tested product a longevity score of 5.3. The score is RTINGS’ assessment of its reviewed sample, not a predicted lifespan for every mattress or a warranty determination.

Trial, returns, and warranty: what to check
Brooklyn Bedding advertises a 120-night comfort trial. Its FAQ says the trial starts when the mattress is received, but a return request cannot be made until after 30 days. The FAQ also lists a $99 return fee, says the comfort trial can be used once, and excludes clearance items from returns and exchanges. Brooklyn Bedding says it will help arrange pickup and disposal. Terms can change, so check the current manufacturer FAQ before ordering.

The product page advertises a limited lifetime warranty. AARP summarizes the warranty as providing full defect coverage for 10 years; that summary does not establish that every defect or ordinary wear is covered for life. Review the live warranty document for exclusions, claim requirements, and any coverage or proration after the initial period. The product page also notes that a strike-through suggested retail price may not have previously been offered by Brooklyn Bedding or other retailers. What foundation does it need?
Brooklyn Bedding says the mattress needs a solid foundation with minimal to no flex. Its listed compatible options include slatted wood or metal bases with slats no more than five inches apart, box foundations, and solid platforms. The company states that its mattresses are designed to support up to 950 pounds; this is a manufacturer-stated design capacity, not an independent performance test. Its general care advice says most of its mattresses should be rotated every six to eight months and never flipped, but the cited guidance is general, so confirm the recommendation for this model with the manufacturer before using it as a product-specific care schedule. Who is it best suited to?
- Consider it if: you want a hybrid with three listed firmness choices and an optional pillow top, and you are prepared to match the configuration to your preferred feel.
- Be cautious if: you sleep on your back or stomach and need consistently strong support; RTINGS’ tested version raised concerns for many sleepers in those positions.
- For side sleepers: RTINGS’ sample showed useful pressure relief for average and heavier side sleepers, but its soft-labeled unit felt medium and does not represent every version.
- If you sleep hot or share a bed: weigh RTINGS’ mixed cooling assessment against its favorable motion-dissipation finding; neither result was established for all configurations.
Before buying, compare the exact firmness and top option, your sleep position and body weight, the return fee and minimum break-in period, warranty terms, and the current all-in price for the chosen size. The available evidence does not identify one best configuration for everyone.
