It is intended to remove moisture while also filtering air, rather than serving as a dehumidifier alone. Breville recommends it for rooms up to 60 m², but that is a manufacturer recommendation, not an independently established room-size limit. Breville’s product page uses the identifier BAD708; the official instruction book and filter page use LAD708. Check the label on your appliance and the identifier specified by the relevant document when looking up instructions or parts.

How much water can it remove?
Breville states that the unit can extract up to 25 litres of water per day when operating without the filter. This is a manufacturer claim; the public CHOICE listing repeats the claimed capacity but does not expose its measured water-removal results or energy-efficiency results. The actual extraction rate in a particular room is therefore not established by the public evidence cited here.

CHOICE identifies the LAD708 as a refrigeration dehumidifier and lists two fan speeds. Its public product record also gives a weight of 14 kg and a two-year warranty. CHOICE’s Expert Rating and measured-performance fields are members-only, so its public listing cannot be used to make a verified performance comparison.

What does the purifier and Viral Protect filter claim mean?
Breville lists a washable pre-filter, an AntiViral HEPA-13 filter and an activated-carbon filter. On its replacement-filter page, Breville says the filter material reduced SARS-CoV-2 viral particles by 99.97% and influenza A viral particles by 99.99% in testing under ISO 18184. Those are manufacturer claims about filter material; they do not establish a clinical benefit, a reduction in infection risk, or an equivalent reduction throughout a whole room.
The combined design may suit someone who wants moisture control and air filtration in one appliance, but the available public evidence does not demonstrate its real-world purification effectiveness or independently verified dehumidifying performance. Buyers prioritising either function should look for accessible independent measurements of that function rather than treating the product-page claims as measured results.

Breville lists Wi-Fi control through the Home Connect app, compatibility with Alexa and Google Assistant, a standalone purifier mode, a laundry mode and continuous drainage. The continuous-drain option uses the included 1 m hose. These are listed features, not functions independently tested here, so their practical reliability and performance are not established.
What does the LAD070 replacement filter cost and how often does it need replacing?
Breville names the LAD070 as the replacement filter for both LAD708 and LAD358. It recommends replacement every 4 to 6 months or after 2,160 hours, depending on frequency of use and air quality. The official manual says to use only the original filter intended for the appliance. Breville’s indexed Australian filter page showed AU$64.95 and out-of-stock status when checked for this article; price and availability can change. Is the Breville LAD708 worth considering?
It is worth considering if you specifically want a combined compressor dehumidifier and air purifier, and the listed app, laundry and drainage functions match your needs. The key trade-off is evidence: Breville supplies useful specifications and filter claims, but publicly accessible CHOICE information does not provide the measured extraction or energy-efficiency results needed for a firm performance verdict. Factor in the ongoing cost and availability of the LAD070 filter, and compare independent measurements where you can access them.
For a comparison with other dehumidifiers, focus on independently measured water removal and energy efficiency where available, as well as compressor type, room coverage, purification and replacement-filter costs, drainage options, laundry mode, controls, warranty and noise. The public CHOICE record for this model does not settle its measured performance on the first two criteria.
