The Breville Oracle Dual Boiler BES995 is a premium home espresso machine for people who want the machine to grind, dose and tamp automatically, guide drink preparation on a touchscreen, and still offer a manual mode. Its defining hardware advantage is that its dual boilers are designed to brew espresso and steam milk at the same time. The tradeoff is size and cost, along with a roast-preference question: in one hands-on review, light-roast dialing-in proved frustrating while a dark roast was easier to manage.
What the Oracle Dual Boiler BES995 does
Breville positions the BES995 as its most advanced Oracle model. It combines an integrated grinder and automatic puck preparation with a 5.7-inch touchscreen, guided workflows, and manual operation. The manufacturer also describes an Auto Dial-In system that monitors extractions and adjusts settings to help improve the next shot. Those are product features and claims, not a guarantee that every coffee or user will get a particular result.

- Auto mode: Guided machine workflows manage grinding, dosing and tamping.
- Manual mode: You can take a more hands-on approach rather than relying only on automated workflows.
- Dual boilers: Breville says the stainless-steel boilers, triple heating system and PID temperature control support espresso extraction and milk steaming at the same time.
Can it brew espresso and steam milk at the same time?
Yes. Simultaneous extraction and steaming are a central advantage of the BES995’s dual-boiler design. Tom’s Guide reviewer Erin Bashford found it straightforward to extract espresso and steam milk simultaneously during her hands-on testing, and praised the steam wand. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a controlled comparison or a promise of identical results for every drink and setup. Even with guided recipes, you still assemble the drink yourself.
Does it grind, dose and tamp automatically?
Yes. The grinder is integrated into the machine, and Breville describes the system as grinding, dosing and tamping the coffee into the portafilter. Breville specifies Baratza European Precision burrs with 45 settings, a 58 mm stainless-steel portafilter and a stated 22 g dose. These are manufacturer specifications; they do not independently establish grind consistency or espresso quality.
#1 Best Overall
- Enjoy your coffee, your way with Breville’s most advanced Oracle ever
- With more processing power and advanced sensors, this machine delivers an intelligently automated experience and seamless performance, all through a highly responsive, 5
- 7" touch screen
- Stainless steel dual boilers give you the best of both worlds, allowing you to extract the perfect espresso while simultaneously steaming milk
- The triple-heating system features PID temperature control, maintaining an optimal extraction temperature that can be adjusted precisely to suit your taste
The integration can reduce separate steps and equipment for someone who wants a guided, repeatable workflow. It is less compelling if you specifically want to choose a separate grinder, or prefer to control each preparation step yourself. In that case, compare it with Breville’s non-Oracle Dual Boiler, which Tom’s Guide describes as lacking the Oracle’s integrated grinder and puck-preparation automation.
How well does it handle different roasts?
Roast preference is the most important qualification in the available hands-on account. In a review published September 23, 2025, Tom’s Guide reported that dialing in light-roast beans was frustrating, while a dark roast was easier and more consistent for the reviewer. The reviewer used a 250 g bag during the light-roast dialing-in attempt; that is an individual test detail, not a general performance statistic.

- AUTO MILQ: Silky smooth microfoam with settings optimized for dairy, soy, almond, and oat milk; Cappuccino and latte machine microfoam settings feature adjustable temperatures (104 F to 167 F) and 8 texture levels
- SWIPE AND SELECT: Versatility with Cold Brew and Cold Espresso; Home espresso machine transforms into a cold brew coffee maker; Extracting at lower temperatures reduces acidic notes, producing a light and smooth flavor profile
- BARATZA BURRS: Espresso machine with built-in grinder allows you to auto grind, dose and tamp with Baratza European Precision Burrs; Fully-integrated high carbon hardened steel precision burr grinder has 45 grind settings
- RECEIVE 2 FREE BAGS OF SPECIALTY COFFEE: Included when you purchase and register any Breville coffee machine; T&Cs apply
- THERMOJET HEATING SYSTEM: Powered by ThermoJet heating system which provides fast heat up and is up to 32% more energy efficient* (Compared to a Thermoblock heating system. Based on internal benchmark testing as of November 2022.)
This is a reason for light-roast drinkers to seek additional independent testing or try their usual beans before committing, not proof that all light roasts will perform poorly. If dark roasts are your usual choice, the reviewer’s experience is more encouraging, but it still should not be treated as a universal result. The report is at Tom’s Guide’s BES995 review.
