Breville’s instruction manual covers the LAD200 and LAD300. Retail and review pages use the designation LAD200WHT for the white version of the LAD200. The two names appear to describe the same retail model, but check the SKU on any live listing before you buy, because the suffix is the only thing that ties a listing to the figures below.

The table below uses the figures from Breville’s LAD200/LAD300 instruction manual, which is dated around 2019 in the sources reviewed. These are manufacturer specifications, not results from independent testing.

Retailer and review listings add or vary some details. Appliances Online lists a 20–30 m² room range, two fan speeds, touch controls, continuous drainage, a night mode, a laundry mode, a timer and a child lock. It gives a 10 L/day figure without the test conditions. CHOICE lists a claimed 10 L/day, a 30 m² room, a weight of 10 kg and a two-year warranty. The 10 kg weight differs from the 9.5 kg in the manual, so treat the manual figure as the reference.
Reading the capacity figure correctly
A dehumidifier pulls more water from warmer, wetter air, so the two manual figures describe two different jobs. The 10 L/day rating applies at 30°C and 80% relative humidity. The 5 L/day rating applies at 27°C and 60% relative humidity, which is closer to a room that has been dried down to a comfortable level.

For a bathroom or laundry that is steaming up, the higher figure is a reasonable ceiling to plan around. For a bedroom you want to hold at a steady, lower humidity, the 5 L/day figure is the one to plan around. Neither figure is an independent measurement of how much water the unit removes in a real home. Two retailer or review numbers of 10 L/day are not directly comparable with each other or with the manual’s 5 L/day condition, because the test conditions are missing.
Room size, noise and footprint
- Room size: The manual suggests up to 30 m². Appliances Online lists 20–30 m². Use the lower figure for a very damp room, because a unit sized at the top of its range will take longer to bring humidity down.
- Noise: The manual gives 40 dB. The sources reviewed contain no independent noise measurement. The night mode listed by Appliances Online is the feature most relevant to a bedroom, but it is retailer-listed information, and its effect on sound level is not quantified in the sources reviewed.
- Power: 220 W, which is modest for a dehumidifier of this class.
- Footprint: 250 × 250 × 460 mm, so it is a tall, narrow unit that fits a corner or a laundry bench. At 9.5 kg, it is light enough to move between rooms, though the tank must be emptied before lifting.
Continuous drainage and the tank
The 2.5 L tank is the main limit on unattended use. When the tank fills, the unit stops until it is emptied, unless it is connected to a drain. The manual describes gravity-fed continuous drainage through a hose. The manual does not give a hose diameter, and the sources reviewed do not confirm third-party fittings, so check the connection requirements against the manual before buying a hose.

If the unit tips while the reservoir is full, unplug it and make sure it is thoroughly dry before running it again. The manual says servicing should be carried out by qualified personnel.
The manual also warns: “Water in the water tank is not suitable for drinking.” Do not use tank water for drinking, for animals, or for watering plants.

Cleaning and filter care
The manual asks for the filters to be cleaned at least monthly, and more often when the unit runs most days. The two filters sit behind the rear inlet grille.

- Switch the unit off and unplug it before opening the rear inlet grille.
- Remove the grille and take out the mesh dust filter. Vacuum or tap dust from it. If it is dirty, hand-wash it in warm soapy water, rinse, and dry it fully before refitting.
- Remove the black carbon filter and vacuum or tap dust from it. Never wet the carbon filter.
- Empty the tank and rinse it with clean water. Dispose of the water; do not drink it or use it on plants.
- Refit both filters only when they are completely dry, then refit the grille.
The manual does not give a replacement filter part number in the sources reviewed, so confirm the fit with the model number before ordering a replacement.

Taken together, this is enough to say that buyers who reviewed the unit were broadly satisfied, and not enough to say how the unit ranks against its competitors.
Warranty, price and availability
- Warranty: Appliances Online states a two-year domestic parts-and-labour warranty, and CHOICE lists a two-year warranty. Breville’s North American limited warranty applies to products purchased and used in the United States or Canada and directs customers to their country’s product page for the warranty period. That does not establish coverage for an Australian purchase, so check the product page for your country.
- Price: CHOICE’s page shows a price of $379. That is a historical snapshot tied to its review, not a current price, so check the live listing before you buy.
- Availability: CHOICE marks the model as discontinued. Confirm stock with the seller and check that the listed model matches the manual’s specifications.
How it compares with the LAD300 and other options
The LAD300 is the larger sibling in the same manual. The manual’s figures put it in a higher capacity and room-size class, but they do not establish which unit performs better in real homes.

If the LAD200WHT is no longer available, compare any alternative on the same axes: extraction rate at a stated temperature and humidity, the room-size recommendation, noise, tank size, continuous drainage, power draw, filter maintenance, dimensions and weight, warranty, and current price. An alternative advertised at 10 L/day is not comparable unless its test condition is stated too.

Who should consider it
- A good fit: a small damp room of up to about 30 m², such as a bathroom, laundry or bedroom, where a compact unit with continuous drainage and a night mode is useful.
- A weaker fit: a large or very damp space, where the LAD300’s larger tank and higher stated capacity matter more, or a noise-sensitive room, where 40 dB is only a manufacturer figure with no independent measurement behind it.
- Not a safe buy without checks: any purchase that relies on a discontinued listing, a historical price, or a 10 L/day figure without its test conditions.
