BrenX says its 32 MWh bGen thermal-energy-storage system at Tempo Beverages produced approximately 85 tons of steam per operating day during commissioning on October 15, 2026. That is above the project’s financial-model baseline of about 70 tons per day (roughly 19,000 tons annually), but it is not yet proof of sustained commercial operation or full boiler replacement.
What BrenX reported at Tempo
The reported 85 tons per operating day is a preliminary commissioning result from the industrial steam installation at Tempo Beverages. BrenX’s project financial model assumed approximately 70 tons per operating day, so the early output is about 15 tons per day above that modeled baseline, or roughly 21% higher on a simple daily comparison.

Tempo reportedly consumes approximately 90–100 tons of steam per operating day. Comparing those figures implies an operating gap of about 5–15 tons per day between the commissioning result and the facility’s stated demand range. That is an inference from the reported ranges, not evidence that BrenX has already supplied all of Tempo’s steam.

Why exceeding the baseline matters
The project’s commercial model includes a minimum contracted, or take-or-pay, steam volume based on approximately 70 tons per operating day. If BrenX can maintain output above that minimum and Tempo takes the additional steam, the excess could create revenue above the original baseline model.

That possibility is not revenue guidance. BrenX has not disclosed a validated recurring production rate, the price paid for incremental steam, operating costs, or the duration over which the higher output must be maintained. Commissioning data can change as controls, heat-transfer equipment and customer operations are tuned.
How the bGen system is intended to work
BrenX describes bGen as a thermal-energy-storage platform. Electricity is converted into heat, the heat is stored in crushed rock, and the stored energy is dispatched as steam, hot water or hot air when the industrial customer needs it.

The Tempo project is engineered to provide continuous process steam and replace heat from fossil-fuel boilers. BrenX’s earlier project description calls it the company’s first large-scale industrial TES deployment designed, after validation, to replace 100% of on-site fossil-boiler steam production. The phrase “after validation” is important: the commissioning milestone demonstrates progress toward that goal, not completion of it.

No. The 85-ton figure is a point-in-time commissioning result. BrenX says start-up and commissioning are intended to prove reliability and operational consistency under real industrial conditions, and the company has not yet confirmed sustained steady-state performance at Tempo.
Evidence that would establish commercial durability includes a defined period of continuous operation, delivered steam measurements under changing plant demand, maintenance and availability data, and confirmation that the system can meet the contracted minimum. Until those results are reported, the appropriate description is “above-baseline commissioning output,” not validated full replacement.
What the milestone means for emissions
BrenX said in a June 2026 release that the project is expected to eliminate approximately 6,200 tons of carbon dioxide annually, subject to successful validation and operation. That figure is an expected project benefit, not a measured reduction already achieved by the commissioning run.

The broader plan described in BrenX’s September 2026 SEC-filed release combines bGen with renewable generation, battery storage, grid connectivity, energy management, asset ownership and operations and maintenance. Those elements point to an infrastructure model rather than a stand-alone heat-storage sale, but the Tempo update does not establish which parts of that model are operating at the facility or how they affect project economics.
What to watch next
- Validation: BrenX’s confirmation of sustained, repeatable steam production under normal Tempo operations.
- Demand coverage: Whether output reaches the facility’s reported 90–100-ton daily requirement often enough to support the planned replacement role.
- Contract economics: The contracted minimum, treatment of volumes above it, and any disclosed pricing or cost information.
- Availability: Operating uptime, maintenance requirements and performance during demand changes.
- Emissions accounting: Measurement supporting the expected annual reduction of approximately 6,200 tons of CO2.
How to interpret the announcement
For BrenX, the result is strategically important because it is above the project’s modeled minimum and moves the system toward its harder objective: supplying industrial process steam at a scale intended to displace a fossil-boiler system. For customers and investors, however, the key distinction is between an encouraging commissioning datapoint and a validated operating asset. The next disclosures—not the 85-ton figure alone—will determine whether the Tempo system can deliver dependable full-scale steam and revenue above its baseline assumptions.
