Through the Jets’ first three games of 2026, Hall led Allen in carries and receptions, giving Hall the better workload and the stronger PPR floor. Hall’s thigh injury opened a possible starting opportunity for Allen, but Isaiah Davis could also see work. The injury details below reflect reports published September 28 and 30, 2026—not a current medical update.
Who should you start: Breece Hall or Braelon Allen?
With both backs available, Hall is the preferred fantasy start. The New York Jets’ official statistics through three games show Hall with 51 carries for 163 yards and one rushing touchdown, plus 10 catches for 102 yards. Allen had 19 carries for 61 yards and one rushing touchdown, plus four catches for 11 yards. Those figures favor Hall in standard formats and especially in half-PPR and PPR, where his greater receiving involvement adds a steadier path to points. How their roles and touches compare
| Through the Jets’ first three 2026 games | Breece Hall | Braelon Allen |
|---|---|---|
| Carries | 51 | 19 |
| Rushing yards | 163 | 61 |
| Rushing touchdowns | 1 | 1 |
| Receptions | 10 | 4 |
| Receiving yards | 102 | 11 |
Hall’s game-by-game workload reinforces the difference: he had 22 carries and two catches in Week 1, 16 carries and five catches in Week 2, and 13 carries and three catches in Week 3. Allen’s carries declined from 10 to five to four across those games; his catches were zero, one, and three. The numbers describe a three-game sample, not a guarantee about how the Jets will distribute touches in later weeks. (Jets: Breece Hall statistics) (Jets: Braelon Allen statistics)

Hall’s 10 catches for 102 yards give him more ways to produce than Allen’s four catches for 11 yards in the same span. That difference is particularly relevant in PPR scoring. It does not establish a guaranteed weekly reception total, but it makes Hall the stronger choice when both are active.

Hall’s 2025 season adds context, not a projection
The Jets list Hall at 243 carries for 1,065 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns in 2025, along with 36 receptions for 350 yards. That prior season shows he has handled substantial all-purpose volume, but it should not be treated as a promise of his 2026 production. (Jets: Breece Hall statistics)
What Hall’s thigh injury means for Allen
Hall left the Week 3 loss at Detroit with a thigh injury. A September 28 report described him as week-to-week and identified Allen and Isaiah Davis as backs who could cover his absence. On September 30, a fantasy update treated Hall as out for Week 4 and projected a starting opportunity for Allen while cautioning that Davis might share touches. These are dated reports, not confirmation of Hall’s status for any later game. (ESPN, September 28) (FantasyPros, September 30)

If Hall is ruled out, Allen’s fantasy value rises because he is a leading candidate for added work. But do not assume he automatically inherits Hall’s full workload: the cited reporting also names Davis as a possible contributor. The available information does not establish a stable goal-line role for Allen, either.

How to make the weekly lineup call
- If Hall is active: Start Hall over Allen in most formats, based on his lead in both carries and receptions through the first three games.
- If Hall is ruled out: Allen becomes a viable replacement, but check the latest Jets injury news and any updated information on Davis’s role before setting your lineup.
- If Hall’s status is uncertain: Avoid treating the September 30 Week 4 projection as current. Use the latest injury designation and reporting for the specific game week.
- For PPR or half-PPR: Give Hall extra preference when available because his early-season receiving volume exceeded Allen’s.
A September 30 fantasy analyst viewed Allen as a potential low-end RB2 for the Week 4 matchup with Hall out. That was a week-specific projection, not a lasting season-long ranking. The evidence covers only three games and does not establish how touches would be divided if Hall missed additional time. (FantasyPros, September 30)
