Short answer: Pickaxe Power is the damage dealt to an egg on each swing; it is not movement Speed. No published game information confirms a durability meter, wear, repairs, or breakage, so treat those mechanics as unverified. Buy pickaxes with in-game Cash at the Pickaxe Shop in the Safe Zone, beside the Animal Merging machine on the left side of spawn. Upgrade Power when eggs are slowing you down, Speed when guards or long routes are the problem, and satchel capacity when you run out of carrying room.
What the pickaxe does in Break and Steal an Egg
The core loop described in Roblox’s ILGames x Eggs listing is: “Break eggs to hatch rare animals,” “Steal them and escape the guards,” “Place them in your base to earn cash,” “Upgrade your speed and pickaxe,” and “Collect them all in the Index!” The pickaxe affects the first part of that loop: breaking the egg.

Pickaxe Power is the damage dealt per swing. If an egg has 30 million health and your pickaxe has 15 million Power, the published example says it takes two hits. In general, the minimum number of swings is the egg’s health divided by Power, rounded up to a whole swing. Fewer swings mean less time standing beside an egg and a shorter window in which a guard can catch you.
Power does not make your character run faster. Movement Speed is a separate upgrade. A powerful pickaxe can shorten the breaking phase while leaving your escape speed unchanged; conversely, a fast character may still spend too long damaging a high-health egg if Power is low.

Does a pickaxe break or lose durability?
No currently documented source establishes that pickaxes wear out. The available descriptions publish Power values, but they do not publish a durability bar, wear rate, repair price, repair location, or a condition under which a pickaxe breaks. That means you should not assume either that a tool lasts forever or that it will eventually need repairs.
What to check in the live game
When you equip a pickaxe, look for a condition percentage, a damaged-item warning, a repair button, or a replacement prompt in the inventory and shop interfaces. If none appears, the client is not exposing a confirmed durability system. An interface change or an official developer announcement could add one later, so use the mechanics shown in your current server rather than an old video or list.
Power and durability answer different questions. Power tells you how quickly an egg loses health. It does not, by itself, indicate how many swings a tool can perform before it stops working.

The Pickaxe Shop is in the Safe Zone, beside the Animal Merging machine on the left side of spawn. Pickaxes are bought with the game’s Cash currency and then equipped; the guide covering the shop says a Roblox gift card or Robux is not required for these purchases.

Buying and equipping a pickaxe
- Return to spawn and enter the Safe Zone.
- Move to the left side of spawn and find the Animal Merging machine.
- Open the Pickaxe Shop next to that machine.
- Select a tool whose displayed Cash price you can afford.
- Click the displayed Cash price to buy it.
- Use the shop or inventory’s equip control before heading back to the egg area.
Prices and stock shown in the live shop take priority over a screenshot or a third-party table. The two published tables currently disagree, particularly at the top end.
Which upgrade should you buy?
Choose the upgrade that fixes the step currently limiting a successful run. This is a practical decision rule, not a guaranteed return-on-investment calculation.
Buy a stronger pickaxe when eggs are the bottleneck
- You need many swings to finish an egg.
- You are exposed to guards while breaking rather than while carrying.
- Your route is safe, but each egg takes too long to damage.
Higher Power raises damage per swing. Before buying, compare the egg’s health with the candidate tool’s Power and estimate the number of swings each would require. A small increase that crosses an egg-health threshold can remove an entire swing, while a larger-looking increase may not change the count for the egg you are farming.

- Guards catch you after the egg is already broken.
- You can carry the animal, but the route back to base takes too long.
- Your break time is acceptable and the danger begins during movement.
Pickaxe Power does not substitute for Speed. If the failed part of the run is the chase, spend on movement rather than assuming a stronger tool will make your character faster.

Increase satchel capacity when carrying room runs out
- You reach your carrying limit before you can make a worthwhile trip.
- The egg-breaking and escape portions are efficient, but you must return to base too often.
- You leave potential animals behind because the satchel is full.
Capacity is a separate constraint from both Power and Speed. Improving it can increase the value of a safe route even when your pickaxe and movement are already adequate.

A fan-wiki snapshot published between September 28 and October 1, 2026 lists 18 tools. The values below are that snapshot’s figures, not an official guarantee. Prices use the abbreviations displayed in the table (K = thousand, M = million, B = billion, T = trillion, Qa = quadrillion).

These tables cannot both be treated as a single definitive progression. The earlier snapshot ends at Celestial with 25B Power and $20Qa, while the October 16 list reaches Enchanted at 250B Power and $200Qa. The live Pickaxe Shop on your server is the authority for the name, price, and Power currently available. Check the displayed values immediately before spending, especially if you are saving for a high-tier tool.

How to use Power efficiently
Count swings instead of judging only the label
For a target egg, divide its displayed health by the candidate pickaxe’s Power and round up. For example, a 30-million-health egg needs two swings from a 15-million-Power Hacker Pickaxe. If another tool reduces that result from two swings to one, it removes a complete attack cycle; if both tools still require two swings, the extra Power may not improve that particular run.
Account for exposure, not just speed
Every additional swing is another moment in the egg area. When guards are the main threat during breaking, a Power upgrade can improve survival even if your movement route is unchanged. When guards appear only after you start carrying, Speed usually addresses the risk more directly.
Recheck after an update
Names, prices, and the number of tools have changed between the dated tables above. Reopen the shop after a game update, compare the live Power and Cash values, and do not rely on an old progression chart for a purchase decision.
Can you trade pickaxes or animals?
Trading is unverified. The official game listing and the guides covering the shop do not document a player-to-player trading menu, eligibility requirement, trade currency, or procedure for exchanging pickaxes or animals. There is therefore no confirmed step-by-step method to publish.

How to verify a trading claim safely
- Look for a trade button or menu in the current Roblox client, not just a chat message or video.
- Check whether the interface identifies the item, quantity, and both players before confirmation.
- Look for an official developer announcement if a new trading feature appears.
- Do not give an animal, Cash, or pickaxe to another player in exchange for a promise of a later return.
If the live interface has no trade panel, assume that player-to-player trading is unavailable or unsupported until an official update says otherwise. A claim that a pickaxe can be traded is not evidence that the game has a protected trade system.
Quick troubleshooting by failure point
“The egg takes too long to break.”
Confirm that the new pickaxe is equipped, then compare its Power with the egg’s health. If the swing count remains high, the next Power tier is the relevant upgrade; Speed will not change egg damage.
“I break the egg but guards catch me.”
Separate the timing: if the guard reaches you while the egg is still being damaged, increase Power; if the chase starts after you pick up the animal, increase Speed and review the route through the Safe Zone.

Increase satchel capacity or make shorter deposit trips. A higher-Power pickaxe does not expand the satchel.
“The shop price does not match a guide.”
Use the live shop’s displayed Cash price and Power. Dated third-party tables disagree, and the October 16, 2026 list is not the same as the September 28–October 1 snapshot.
“My pickaxe shows damage or needs repair.”
Record the exact client message and check whether the shop or inventory provides a repair action. A published durability rule, repair cost, and breakage threshold are not established, so do not infer a universal mechanic from one player’s interface without confirmation.
