Brave is reportedly working to add browser extensions to its Android app, but the feature has not been announced as a stable release and no shipping date is established. A PiunikaWeb report published October 1, 2026 says the first experiment is planned for Brave Canary, with a dedicated mobile interface expected in a later phase. Read the report.
What is planned for Brave on Android?
According to PiunikaWeb, Brave developer Sergey Zhukovsky described work to add Chromium’s extension API to Brave for Android. The report says users may be able to install extensions from the Chrome Web Store, an unpacked extension manager, or CRX files, and reports intended support for Manifest V2 and Manifest V3. These are reported development plans, not confirmed features in a released Android build.
The report does not establish which individual desktop extensions will work on phones, what Android permissions an extension may require, or whether Brave will impose compatibility restrictions. Extension availability should not be read as a promise that every desktop extension will run correctly on Android.
How might Android users get access?
PiunikaWeb reports that the initial experiment will require enabling a flag in Brave Canary, the browser’s experimental channel. A dedicated interface for managing extensions on mobile is described as a later phase.

Brave’s official Android installation documentation lists Google Play and Brave’s F-Droid repositories as installation routes: Brave’s installation information. In a June 2025 announcement, Brave described its F-Droid builds as identical to the Play Store builds. That does not establish whether a future experimental extension feature will arrive on both channels at the same time.
What Brave’s existing extension guidance does—and does not—confirm
Brave’s official extension guide explains how to use extensions in desktop Brave, including installing Chrome Web Store extensions and reviewing their permissions. It is not confirmation that Android support is already available. Brave also cautions: “Brave cannot vouch for the security or privacy of third-party extensions, or how they’ll handle your data.” That warning applies to third-party extensions generally, not to a finalized Android permission experience. See Brave’s extension guide.

Why older status information may look different
Brave’s long-running Android extension tracking issue documents an upstream Chromium dependency and says the work was not scheduled when that issue status was set. It is useful historical context, but it does not override the newer development report or establish the current implementation status. View the tracking issue.
Requests for mobile extensions have appeared in Brave’s public issue and community discussions, including questions such as whether the team plans to add support on Android or bring extensions to Android and iOS. Such requests show the question users are asking; they do not establish a release date or indicate support for iOS. Read a community discussion.
