Brave currently advertises plans at $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year, a seven-day trial, and protection for up to ten devices. Those are vendor-published terms, not a substitute for independent performance testing. The available evidence does not establish a year of personal use, so this review assesses the documented product and identifies what remains unverified.
What Brave Firewall + VPN does
Brave describes Firewall + VPN as network-level protection for a device: it is intended to cover traffic from other apps as well as Brave Browser. Brave Browser must be installed on supported devices. That makes the product broader than a browser proxy, while tying access to Brave’s browser ecosystem. Brave lists Android, iOS, macOS and Windows as supported platforms. Brave’s product page and its VPN FAQ provide the current platform and service details.

What it costs and what the subscription includes
Brave’s product page, accessed October 7, 2026, advertises $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year, a seven-day free trial and coverage for up to ten devices. These are current advertised figures, not a guarantee of the amount charged in every country or purchase channel. Check the checkout screen for applicable taxes, renewal price, trial conversion and cancellation terms before subscribing. Brave Firewall + VPN pricing
The annual advertised amount is lower than paying the advertised monthly rate for twelve months, but that arithmetic does not establish whether a subscription will suit you: the trial, renewal and cancellation terms matter, as does whether you need protection on several devices.

How multi-device setup works
Although Brave advertises up to ten protected devices, sharing a mobile-purchased subscription can require an additional account-linking step. Brave’s Help Center says a mobile purchase does not automatically create a Brave account, and that the mobile subscription remains separate from an account subscription until linked. An account is needed to share the subscription across devices. Follow Brave’s multi-device setup instructions if you plan to use one subscription across platforms.
What Brave says about its network and protocols
Brave’s current product page lists 300+ servers across 40+ regions. These are vendor-published figures; they do not establish current server availability in a particular city or how performance will compare from your location. Brave’s product page

In an October 30, 2024 announcement, Brave described hundreds of servers in more than 40 countries and regions, city-level server selection, WireGuard and IKEv2 protocol support, DNS leak protection and unlimited bandwidth. The announcement is a dated description, not proof that the network layout or every technical detail remains unchanged. Brave’s October 30, 2024 update
What is established about privacy—and what is not
Brave says Guardian powers the service and describes a no-logs policy. Brave also says its account-authentication method prevents Brave from knowing whether a subscriber actually used the VPN. These are company statements about the product and its data handling; they should not be mistaken for independently verified guarantees about every current implementation or use case. Brave dates its initial software security audit to February 2024 and its initial infrastructure security audit to April 2024. In its October 2024 announcement, Brave said a second phase of an independent audit through Assured was complete and included verification of the no-logs policy. The underlying reports, detailed scope, exceptions and any later renewal are not established by those announcements alone. An audit announcement is useful context, but readers who need to assess assurance should consult the full reports and their scope rather than treating the announcement as a current independent confirmation. No speed, latency, DNS or IP leak, kill-switch, reconnect or streaming tests were conducted for this review. Brave’s server, protocol and bandwidth descriptions are product claims, not measured results. A 2026 Gizmodo review search result reports that its reviewer found speeds lagged competitors, streaming support was limited and device compatibility was limited. That is a secondary reviewer’s assessment; the available result does not provide enough test method or raw data to treat it as a reproducible benchmark, and it is not a finding from this review. For a meaningful hands-on assessment, results would need to identify the test date, device and operating system, Brave version, exposed VPN protocol, baseline internet connection, server locations, repeated throughput and latency readings, leak checks, reconnect and kill-switch behavior, and the specific streaming services and regions attempted. Without that information, claims that the service is fast, leak-proof or reliable for a particular streaming catalog would go beyond the evidence.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- Next-Gen Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Speeds: 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz bands ensure smoother streaming and faster downloads; support VPN server and VPN client¹
- A More Responsive Experience: Enjoy smooth gaming, video streaming, and live feeds simultaneously. OFDMA makes your Wi-Fi stronger by allowing multiple clients to share one band at the same time, cutting latency and jitter.²
- Expanded Wi-Fi Coverage: 4 high-gain external antennas and Beamforming technology combine to extend strong, reliable, Wi-Fi throughout your home.
- Improved Battery Life: Target Wake Time helps your devices to communicate efficiently while consuming less power.
- Improved Cooling Design: No heat ups, no throttles. A larger heat sink and redefined case design cools the WiFi 6 system and enables your network to stay at top speeds in more versatile environments.
Who it may suit—and who should look elsewhere
- Potentially a fit: Brave users who want one subscription intended to cover browser and other app traffic, and who value the advertised ten-device allowance enough to complete any required account linking.
- Less clearly a fit: People choosing primarily on verified speed, latency, streaming access or current independent privacy assurance. The documented material here does not establish those outcomes.
- Before buying: Confirm the price and renewal terms in your region, supported devices, account setup requirements, and whether the service’s stated privacy and technical details meet your needs.
