Is it still available, and is it worth buying?

Using and caring for the iron

Water and filling
- Use tap water. For extremely hard water, the manual recommends a 50% tap-water and 50% distilled-water mixture; it says not to use distilled water exclusively.
- Do not use additives such as starch or water collected from a tumble dryer.
- Unplug the iron before filling. Follow the garment care label and the iron’s temperature guide.
- Empty the tank after ironing.
Steam and the Precision Shot
The manual describes a steam-regulator range from 0 to 6. It recommends medium steam for ordinary ironing and maximum steam for linen or thick cotton. Use the Precision Shot at intervals of at least five seconds. Vertical steaming is possible for hanging clothes, but hot steam can also emerge from the preconditioning nozzles, so take care around the steam outlets.

Cleaning the anti-calc system
The manual says to clean the anti-calc valve regularly and describes using vinegar or lemon juice to clean that valve. It warns against commercial decalcifiers because they may damage the iron. Follow the manual’s procedure for this model rather than applying it to other irons or substituting a general descaling method.
Auto-off timing differs between sources
Braun’s TS 725 A product page advertises automatic shut-off after 1 minute in the horizontal position or 8 minutes vertically. The Type 4661 TS 725 manual instead describes about 30 seconds resting horizontally and 8 minutes upright. The accessible manual is for the TS 725 type, while Braun’s listing is for the A variant; the reason for the difference is not established. The TS 725 A has a clear conventional-iron specification: 2400 W power, a 400 ml tank, manual controls and Braun-listed steam features. Its discontinued status and the absence of public detailed test results mean the buying decision depends less on a published verdict than on the condition and terms of the particular unit. If one is available at a sensible price with a clear return option and applicable warranty, assess it against current irons using comparable specifications rather than assuming it is a current model or proven performer.
