Short answer: Bramblin and Brambleghast are Grass/Ghost species, but the currently surfaced database information is not enough to prove either one is a strong raid attacker or Trainer Battle choice. Use the listed moves as a starting point, treat the evolution condition as a database report, and verify availability, move pools, and the live evolution button in your Pokémon GO account before spending resources.
At-a-glance comparison
| Species | Type | Pokémon GO data surfaced by Pokémon GO Hub | Maximum CP | Displayed recommended moves |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bramblin | Grass/Ghost | 121 Attack; 64 Defense | 991 | Astonish / Power Whip |
| Brambleghast | Grass/Ghost | No Attack or Defense values were included on the surfaced entry | 2745 | Hex / Power Whip |
These are database values attributed to Pokémon GO Hub, accessed in 2026, rather than independent in-game testing. See the Bramblin database entry and Brambleghast database entry for the underlying pages.

The table is useful for orientation, not for declaring a winner. Bramblin’s 991 maximum CP and Brambleghast’s 2745 maximum CP describe the upper limits listed for each species. They do not tell you how common either Pokémon is, whether a specimen has good individual values, or how either performs against a particular raid boss or Trainer Battle team.
What Bramblin and Brambleghast are in Pokémon GO
Both species use the Grass/Ghost typing. The official Pokémon Pokédex also identifies Bramblin as a Grass/Ghost Pokémon and records its evolution relationship with Brambleghast. That establishes the species identity, not their performance in Pokémon GO battles; Pokémon GO uses its own combat calculations and move implementation.

The dual typing matters when you are choosing a defender, raid counter, or Trainer Battle switch. According to the Pokémon GO Hub entries, both species are listed as weak to Dark, Fire, Flying, Ghost, and Ice attacks. The pages do not provide a complete resistance or damage table, so do not infer additional matchup claims from the type alone. A weakness list tells you which attack categories require caution; it does not predict the duration of a battle, the number of charged moves an opponent can use, or whether a team will win.
Grass/Ghost is also a reminder to separate species flavor from battle role. The official Pokédex relationship explains what Bramblin evolves into, while the Pokémon GO database supplies CP, moves, and weakness references. Neither source, by itself, establishes a raid ranking or a league placement.
Bramblin’s surfaced stats and moves
What the listed numbers mean
The surfaced Bramblin entry lists 121 Attack, 64 Defense, and a maximum CP of 991. Maximum CP is a ceiling for that species in the database; it is not a guarantee that every Bramblin reaches that value, nor does it by itself establish raid or league usefulness. Individual appraisal, level, IVs, and the current game balance would still affect a particular specimen.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Attack and Defense are species-level reference values in the Pokémon GO database. They are not the same thing as the appraisal bars shown for one caught Pokémon. A high appraisal does not change the published species identity, and a low appraisal does not make the species’ maximum CP figure incorrect. When comparing two candidates, inspect each Pokémon’s appraisal and CP in the app instead of assuming that every Bramblin has identical battle performance.
No Bramblin HP, stamina, energy-generation, damage-per-second, or matchup ranking was supplied. Avoid filling those gaps with the main-series base stats shown on other websites: those values describe a different game system.
Displayed moveset
Pokémon GO Hub displays Astonish / Power Whip as Bramblin’s recommended combination. “Recommended” here means the database’s displayed recommendation. The page does not explain the methodology, test conditions, or whether the pair is intended for raids, gyms, or a specific Trainer Battle league. Check the current in-game move list and a current battle simulator before using TMs or investing Stardust.
Read the notation as a two-part moveset: Astonish is the listed fast-move choice and Power Whip is the listed charged-move choice. That shorthand does not establish the move’s current energy cost, damage, timing, or availability on every individual Bramblin. Event moves, rebalance changes, or a later update could alter what appears in the app. If the in-game move screen does not match the database display, the live move screen is the one to follow.

Practical role today
With a maximum CP below the ceiling listed for Brambleghast, Bramblin is best approached as an evolution project, collection entry, or temporary placeholder until live performance data is available. That is a resource-management conclusion, not a claim that the species cannot win a particular battle. A low maximum CP can also make a specimen less convenient for some formats, but league eligibility and actual stat product still need to be checked for the individual Pokémon.
If you are short on storage, keep the Bramblin with the best appraisal or the one that fits your intended league research rather than transferring every copy immediately. If you are collecting, retain a candidate with a useful name or label so you can identify which Pokémon has completed the Buddy requirement and which one is still being evaluated.
Brambleghast’s surfaced stats and moves
What is established
The Brambleghast entry lists a maximum CP of 2745 and recommends Hex / Power Whip. The surfaced page does not include Attack and Defense values for Brambleghast, so there is no complete stat comparison with Bramblin in the available evidence. The higher listed CP is therefore a reference point, not proof that Brambleghast is stronger in every format.
Hex / Power Whip follows the same notation as Bramblin’s recommendation: one listed fast move and one listed charged move. It does not tell you whether the pair is optimal for raids, gyms, or a particular league. Before spending a Charged TM, Fast TM, Elite TM, or Stardust, open the Pokémon’s move screen and confirm what is currently available.
Why the moveset is not a proven ranking
The surfaced Brambleghast page labels both its PvE and PvP analysis as “Not yet analysed.” Consequently, Hex / Power Whip should be treated as a starting point for checking the live move pool, not as proof that Brambleghast is a strong raid attacker, gym defender, or league pick. A serious investment decision requires current move availability, energy costs, damage data, league-specific simulations, and an assessment of the opportunity cost versus other Grass- or Ghost-type Pokémon.
Keep PvE and PvP questions separate. A raid attacker is judged by damage output, survival, and relobby or team timing, while a Trainer Battle candidate is judged by CP limits, stat product, shield pressure, move timing, and matchup spread. The database recommendation does not identify which of those jobs it is meant to serve.
When to hold off on powering up
- Wait if you need a verified raid counter or a ranked Great, Ultra, or Master League option.
- Do not use Elite TMs solely because the database displays a recommended pair; the evidence does not establish an exclusive or legacy move.
- Keep a good specimen unevolved if you are collecting or if a future event could change the move pool, Candy cost, or availability.
- Do not spend Rare Candy or large amounts of Stardust until you know which format you intend to play and whether the species has current analysis for it.
How to evolve Bramblin into Brambleghast
The Brambleghast database page lists an evolution cost of 50 Candy plus a 20 km walk with Bramblin as your Buddy. This is a database-listed requirement, not an independently verified live-game test. Because evolution requirements can change with releases or events, confirm that the evolution button in Pokémon GO shows the same condition before committing your Candy.

- Confirm that Bramblin is available in your account. The database pages currently report the species as unreleased; availability is covered in the next section, and the live game is the authority.
- Choose the Bramblin you intend to keep. Check its appraisal, level, IVs, and any league-specific needs before assigning it as a Buddy. If you are undecided, do not transfer your best candidate.
- Set Bramblin as your Buddy. Open the Pokémon’s detail screen, use the Buddy option, and verify that the game is tracking distance for that Bramblin.
- Walk the listed distance. The database condition is 20 km with Bramblin as Buddy. Keep the game’s Buddy distance counter visible and allow for the possibility that the live requirement differs.
- Accumulate 50 Bramblin Candy. Candy can come from catches and other normal in-game sources, but the exact availability of those sources depends on the species’ release and event status.
- Reopen the detail screen and inspect the Evolve button. Evolve only when the button is active and displays the requirement you expect. If the button is unavailable, follow the reason shown in-game rather than relying on an older database page.
The order matters for resource planning. Choosing the specimen first prevents you from walking a candidate and then discovering that another Bramblin has a better appraisal or a more suitable CP. Checking the button at the end also catches changes to the Candy amount or Buddy condition before the cost is paid.
If the evolution button is still locked
- Check that Bramblin is still the active Buddy and that the distance counter has completed the required amount.
- Make sure the Candy total is at least the amount displayed by the live button.
- Restart or refresh the app if the counter has updated but the button has not; then recheck the Pokémon detail screen.
- Confirm that you are looking at Bramblin, not an unintended duplicate, and that the Pokémon is not otherwise restricted from evolving.
- If the live screen shows a different condition from the database, follow the live screen and treat the database value as outdated for your account.
A Buddy walk is tied to the selected Bramblin, so switching Buddies can interrupt your practical tracking plan even if the Candy requirement is unchanged. Keep a note of which specimen you selected, and verify the counter after any Buddy change or event-related update.
Weaknesses and matchup planning
Pokémon GO Hub lists Dark, Fire, Flying, Ghost, and Ice as weaknesses for both Grass/Ghost species. Use that list to anticipate unfavorable matchups, but do not turn it into a full counter guide: the pages do not provide damage multipliers, resistance details, breakpoints, or recommended opposing Pokémon.
| Weakness listed for both species | How to use the information |
|---|---|
| Dark | Expect Dark-type attacks to be a concern; check the specific attacker and move before choosing a counter. |
| Fire | Keep Fire matchups in mind when deciding whether to leave either species defending or in a battle lineup. |
| Flying | Review the opposing Pokémon’s actual moves, since typing alone does not tell you the result of a matchup. |
| Ghost | Mirror-type interactions can be unfavorable; use current battle data rather than assumptions. |
| Ice | Ice-type coverage is another listed vulnerability to account for when planning a team. |
The table describes the weakness categories reported by the database. It does not establish how quickly any particular Pokémon will faint or whether a matchup is unwinnable. A move’s typing, the attacker’s stats, shields, weather or other battle conditions, and the format can all affect the result. Use the weakness list as a screening step, then check the specific encounter.
Is Brambleghast good in Pokémon GO?
There is not enough evidence to answer “good” with a reliable yes or no for raids or Trainer Battles. The surfaced Brambleghast page says that PvE and PvP analysis is not yet available, and no independent battle ranking or test result was provided. Its listed maximum CP and recommended moves are useful reference points, but they do not demonstrate a competitive role.
Recommended Free Tools
Use the following decision framework:
- For collection: evolve one when the live requirement is confirmed and keep additional candidates if you want different appraisals or moves.
- For immediate raids: wait for verified damage calculations and a current move assessment before spending rare resources.
- For Trainer Battles: check the exact league CP cap, stat product, move costs, and current rankings in a maintained simulator. The database page does not provide those results.
- For gyms: compare its actual stamina, defensive move performance, and placement rules in the live game; none of those measurements is established here.
- For future updates: keep a high-quality Bramblin if you have the storage space, since a later move change or event could alter its value.
“Good” is also relative to your roster. If you already have tested Grass- or Ghost-type attackers, Brambleghast would need a clear damage, bulk, or coverage advantage to justify replacing them. If you are a collector with no immediate battle plan, the 50-Candy and 20-km condition can be treated as a long-term project rather than an urgent power-up target.
Availability and shiny-status caveat
The surfaced Pokémon GO Hub pages report that Bramblin, Brambleghast, and their shiny forms are unreleased. That statement was not confirmed by a current official release announcement. Release schedules can vary by event, region, or later update, so verify the Pokédex, encounter screen, and official in-game news before declaring either species unavailable.

If Bramblin is not yet obtainable when you read this, the evolution instructions are preparation rather than an immediately usable route. If it has appeared through an event, check whether the event changes encounter rates, Candy, distance, or shiny availability. An event appearance may also alter which moves can be obtained, so record the move shown on the individual Pokémon instead of assuming the database recommendation is unchanged.
Shiny status should be checked independently for each species. A report that the standard form and shiny form are unreleased is a database status, not a promise about a future event date. Do not trade, spend Premium resources, or plan a community-day strategy around an unannounced release.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesDo not confuse Pokémon GO data with main-series base stats
Pokémon Database lists Bramblin’s main-series base stats as HP 40, Attack 65, Defense 30, Special Attack 45, Special Defense 35, and Speed 60. Those six values belong to the main-series games and should not be copied into a Pokémon GO appraisal, CP calculation, or battle recommendation. The Pokémon GO Hub entry’s 121 Attack, 64 Defense, and 991 maximum CP are separate Pokémon GO database values.
Keeping the scopes separate prevents a common error: using a main-series stat block to infer Pokémon GO bulk or damage. For Pokémon GO decisions, use the live app’s appraisal and CP, then consult current Pokémon GO-specific simulations. Main-series Speed, Special Attack, and Special Defense do not appear as direct appraisal fields in Pokémon GO, so they cannot be substituted for missing Pokémon GO data.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to verify the information before spending resources
- Open the live Pokédex entry. Confirm that Bramblin or Brambleghast can actually be encountered in your region and version of the game.
- Inspect the move list. Verify that Astonish / Power Whip or Hex / Power Whip is available on the individual Pokémon and note any event or legacy notation.
- Check the Evolve button. Compare the displayed Candy and Buddy-distance requirement with the database-listed condition.
- Record the current CP and appraisal. Use the Pokémon’s in-game values rather than importing main-series stats.
- Run current battle simulations. Separate PvE raid results from PvP league results; a move pair that is useful in one format may be poor in another.
- Recheck after updates. Move rebalance passes, event bonuses, and release changes can make an old recommendation stale.
For a fair comparison, write down the same fields for every candidate: species, CP, appraisal, intended league or raid role, available fast and charged moves, Stardust and Candy cost, and whether the Pokémon requires an Elite TM. This avoids comparing a fully powered specimen with an unevolved one or treating a database move label as a battle test.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming maximum CP equals usefulness: CP is a ceiling, not a raid ranking or a guarantee of good Trainer Battle performance.
- Reading “recommended” as “best in every format”: the Pokémon GO Hub pages do not state a testing method or format for the displayed pair.
- Using main-series stats in Pokémon GO: Bramblin’s six base stats from Pokémon Database belong to another battle system.
- Spending Candy before selecting a specimen: choose the Bramblin you want to evolve first, then complete the Buddy requirement.
- Assuming release status is permanent: database availability labels can become outdated after an event or game update.
- Turning a weakness list into a complete counter chart: the listed categories do not supply damage timing, breakpoints, or a guaranteed winner.
Bottom-line resource plan
Save a strong Bramblin, confirm the live availability and evolution button, and complete the listed Buddy walk and Candy requirement only when you are satisfied with the specimen. Treat Astonish / Power Whip for Bramblin and Hex / Power Whip for Brambleghast as database starting points, not tested best-in-slot builds. Until current PvE and PvP analysis exists, Brambleghast is a collection or watch-list project rather than a proven replacement for established raid or league Pokémon.

In practical terms, avoid irreversible spending based only on the 991 or 2745 CP figures. Verify the current move pool, check the exact evolution prompt, and revisit the decision after any release or rebalance. That approach preserves Candy, Stardust, and Elite TMs while still letting you prepare a candidate for the eventual evolution.
