A camera-based workflow may need an RTMP- or SRT-capable encoder compatible with the service. A cloud service that plays uploaded videos does not inherently require a local encoder.

2. Castr: documented continuous streaming and cloud playout
Castr’s Help Center says continuous live streams are supported while the subscription is active and has enough streaming bandwidth. Its platform also describes cloud playout that can schedule uploaded videos, recordings, and live streams into a continuous channel. That makes Castr a documented alternative for both live-input and prerecorded-programming workflows.
Castr’s published Starter plan is $19.99 per month, or $16.67 per month when billed annually; the pricing page lists 200 GB per month of bandwidth for Starter on monthly billing. Plans differ in bandwidth, storage, stream count, and destinations, so verify that your intended audience size and source hours fit the plan. Castr advertises a 99.9% uptime SLA on its pricing page; that is a vendor-published service commitment, not an independently measured reliability result. Castr’s guide says continuous duration depends on an active subscription and sufficient bandwidth: “Livestream 24/7 With Castr”.

3. BoxCast: established YouTube integration, but verify duration carefully
BoxCast supports YouTube as a broadcast destination, and its integration guide says YouTube Live can be used on any BoxCast plan. The account must have live streaming activated; BoxCast notes that initial activation may take 24 hours. Its setup material describes linking a YouTube account through OAuth and scheduling YouTube as a destination. These integration details do not establish monetization eligibility or copyright clearance.
BoxCast’s published Extended Broadcast Duration add-on describes broadcasts of up to 24 hours. That is useful for extended events, but it does not establish support for a single uninterrupted stream lasting multiple days or indefinitely. BoxCast’s Standard plan is listed at $109 per month with annual billing or $119 month to month, and the pricing page says each streaming plan includes at least 10,000 viewer hours monthly. Estimate the real cost, not just the starting price
A headline monthly price does not tell you whether a service covers your full stream. Compare the input hours, audience delivery, destinations, storage, concurrent streams, and support you actually need.
- Audience bandwidth: Castr lists 200 GB/month for its Starter plan on monthly billing; estimate consumption from stream bitrate and viewing hours, then check the plan’s allocation and overage terms.
- Viewer allowance: BoxCast states that plans include at least 10,000 viewer hours monthly, with tier differences. Confirm the allowance and other plan limits for the plan you are quoted.
- Source and slot needs: For a prerecorded loop, count the number of simultaneous channels and the storage required for the uploaded library. For camera production, include encoder and connectivity costs where applicable.
- Billing commitment: BoxCast’s listed Standard annual-billing rate differs from its month-to-month rate; Castr’s published Starter monthly and annual-billing rates also differ. Recheck both vendors’ current pricing before committing.
Questions to settle before subscribing
- Can this plan keep one YouTube stream running continuously, or does it only support long scheduled events?
- Does your workflow use live camera input, prerecorded playout, or both?
- How does the service behave if the source disconnects, YouTube drops the stream, a playlist ends, or a file fails?
- What bitrate, resolution, file formats, ingest protocols, storage, and destination limits apply to your plan?
- Can you link the intended YouTube channel, and is live streaming activated on it?
- Do you own or have permission to use every video, song, and other element in the broadcast? A streaming integration does not grant copyright rights or guarantee monetization.
- Does the provider’s allowance cover your expected audience delivery as well as the time your source is live?
