The Bowers & Wilkins 707 Prestige Edition is a compact, passive, stand-mount speaker whose main changes over the 707 S3 are a high-gloss Santos finish and selected component updates—not a new driver layout. Its hardware and finish are documented, but the available launch information does not establish an independent listening verdict. Whether the premium is worthwhile therefore depends on current local pricing, your preference for the finish, and a properly sourced comparison with the standard 707 S3.
What is the 707 Prestige Edition?
HARMAN announced the 707 Prestige Edition on January 21, 2026, positioning it as the “ultimate Bowers & Wilkins bookshelf loudspeaker.” That is the company’s description, not an independent ranking. The speaker is a two-way, vented bookshelf/stand-mount design with a curved front baffle, intended for shelf placement or use on stands.

Its basic acoustic platform comes from the 707 S3. The manufacturer lists a 25 mm Carbon Dome tweeter and a 130 mm Continuum bass/midrange driver. It is a passive speaker, so it requires an amplifier; the launch information does not specify amplifier recommendations.

The Prestige Edition retains the standard model’s driver configuration and enclosure concept. The distinction is a combination of finish and targeted component changes, according to Bowers & Wilkins’ launch announcement.

| Area | 707 Prestige Edition | 707 S3 comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Drivers and core platform | 25 mm Carbon Dome tweeter and 130 mm Continuum bass/midrange driver; two-way vented enclosure | The Prestige is described by the manufacturer as developed from the 707 S3 platform [HARMAN launch announcement] |
| Tweeter grille and terminals | Optimized high-frequency tweeter grille mesh and upgraded low-loss speaker terminals, described as components used in the 705 S3 Signature | The launch announcement identifies these as Prestige additions; it does not establish an audible improvement [HARMAN launch announcement] |
| Finish and edition details | Santos Gloss with 12 layers of paint and lacquer, plus a special rear logo plate | The 707 S3 does not have this Prestige-specific finish and marking [HARMAN launch announcement] |
| Stands | Optional FS-700 S3 floorstands in black or silver | Stands are optional; the bookshelf/stand-mount description does not mean they are included [HARMAN launch announcement] |
The Santos Gloss finish takes inspiration from the Santos Rosewood finish of the 805 D3 Prestige Edition. The 12-layer paint-and-lacquer process and rear logo plate are concrete edition features; they are not evidence of a change in sound.
What does the manufacturer claim about sound?
Bowers & Wilkins says the grille mesh and terminals are intended “to deliver an even more refined and spacious sound than the standard model.” That is the manufacturer’s stated goal, not a measured result or independent listening conclusion. The available launch details do not show how large any difference is, or whether listeners would reliably hear one.

A 2026 Hi-Fi News search result identifies a review model as “B&W 707 S3 Prestige Edition loudspeaker” and notes the Santos Gloss finish. The result alone does not provide enough evidence to report listening impressions or measurements. What Hi-Fi?’s January 21, 2026 article is launch coverage, not a hands-on Prestige review; its author said they had not yet heard the 700 Series in that report. Consequently, this review does not present audition impressions as firsthand experience.
Launch prices and availability
HARMAN’s January 21, 2026 UK and Europe announcement listed launch prices of £1,550 and €1,750, respectively, with availability through selected retailers beginning that day. These are historical regional launch prices, not current quotes and not a US price. Check an authorized local retailer for today’s price, stock, and the exact package contents.

Japan had a separate allocation: D&M Holdings’ September 12, 2025 announcement planned 1,000 pairs for domestic import and a late-September 2025 launch; a later distributor notice said the planned allocation had reached its order limit. That Japan-specific allocation does not establish current Japanese stock or global scarcity.

There is no sound-based value verdict here without independent listening evidence and a like-for-like comparison at current prices. The best-supported reasons to consider the Prestige are its Santos Gloss appearance, edition detailing, and the specified grille and terminal changes. The standard 707 S3 is the more straightforward comparison if those finish and component distinctions do not justify the local price difference for you.
